RECEPTIVE STRUCTURE. La Colombaia is an old farmhouse set in the heart of Florentine Chianti, 30 km from Florence, among the splendid hills surrounding Montespertoli, a well-known “wine town”. In 2002 the owners began renovation work on the old farmhouse, used in recent years as a storehouse for the estate. The salvage work was very thorough, maintaining and reusing the original structures and materials, bringing back a farmhouse which today greets guests with terracotta floors and ceilings, chestnut beams, sandstone fireplaces and stairs, walls hand-painted by spatula, wrought iron railings and accessories, the typical décor of the Tuscan countryside. The villa is surrounded by a wonderful park, at complete disposal of the guests, with a panoramic pool, the ideal spot for spending the hot summer days. La Colombaia is an excellent departure point for visiting the most beautiful attractions in Tuscany, from famous art cities like Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra and San Gimignano to not less famous little Chianti towns like Greve in Chianti, Castellina in Chianti and Gaiole in Chianti. NOTE: THE BUILDING NEXT TO THE HOUSE IS NOT AT CLIENTS USE AS THIS IS A PRIVATE STOREHOUSE USED BY THE OWNERS. NO OTHER GUESTS WILL BE ONSITE
The villa has two floors plus a tower. The ground floor is divided into two wings, the first composed of a sitting room with fireplace, a dining room, a kitchen and a bathroom with shower. The second wing is divided into a sitting room with fireplace, a large kitchen and a toilet. The two wings are independent but they can be connected through an internal staircase which leads from the right wing up to the first floor and then descends to the left wing, or else through the French windows of the two kitchens on the ground floor which are next to each other. The second floor, reached by a staircase from both the right and left wings, is composed of a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower, a twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower, a double bedroom, two twin bedrooms and two bathrooms with shower. From this floor a staircase leads up to the tower with a double bedroom.
La Colombaia is surrounded by a 2.000 sq m. garden, a carpet of green grass framed by rose bushes, laurel and herbs. In various corners of the garden you can cool off in the shade of large trees, cypresses, lime and mulberry trees. You can enjoy the panorama, sitting in the garden or around the pool, which makes this property unique and appreciated by all those who love the beauty of the landscape and nature. But it will be just as pleasant to spend time with friends savouring the typical dishes and good wine in the open air, dining in the large stone-paved courtyard outside the two kitchens of the house.
The pool, situated 10 metres from the house, is reached along six steps. Of rectangular shape, it measures 12 x 6 m with a varying depth from 1.30 to 1.60 m; it is purified with chlorine and is lined in grey PVC which blends well with the surrounding landscape. Access to the water is by large steps. The border is paved in terracotta and the solarium area is lawn, furnished with sunbeds, deckchairs, small tables and sun umbrellas. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October.

A wide range of restaurants, winebars and trattorias for all budgets and tastes offers traditional peasant dishes prepared with the typical local products certified PDO and PGI. The oil and wine remain, however, the most famous and popular products of the territory. From here in less than an hour you can reach the famous Tuscan towns of Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Lucca and Pisa.
