Offering a real sense of holiday nostalgia, this pretty 2 bed cottage enjoys a timeless setting within the highly-desirable coastal charms of Shaldon.

Nestled close to the river amongst a row of historical cottages, with an authentic local pub on the doorstep and the local village amenities all within easy reach, families and groups of 4 can easily savour a sedate and memorable stay here.

The cottage interior faithfully retains a lovely sense of simple country living, with an inviting beamed open plan living area to greet guests upon arrival. For guests’ further entertainment, the cottage is equipped with free Wi-Fi. Bright and airy, the room offers a restful and welcoming spot throughout the day.

A cosy sofa suite with a gas fire, a flat screen TV and DVD player enables guests to easily feel at home, whilst the open plan kitchen diner allows guests to rustle up delicious meals in a relaxed and sociable setting.

The pretty country-style kitchen is equipped with all the must-have appliances, such as a gas cooker hob, oven, toaster and kettle alongside all the necessary cooking utensils and cutlery. A charming dining area for 4 allows guests to easily soak up a lazy morning coffee or relaxed evening meal here.

Outside to the front, a sunny private terrace complemented by outdoor dining furniture offers the perfect excuse to enjoy an alfresco meal in the warmer months.

Adjoining the kitchen diner is a bright and spacious utility room. Guests will find a microwave, washing machine and fridge freezer here alongside convenient laundry facilities and an iron with ironing board. Under the stairs of the ground floor, a lovely contemporary shower room fitted with a power shower and wash basin features. A coastal themed WC & hand basin can be found to the first floor of the period cottage.

Upstairs the charming cottage reveals two bright and spacious bedrooms. Equally welcoming and furnished to a comfortable and tasteful standard, the arrangement is ideal for groups of 4; comprising a king bed perfect for couples and a single bedroom with a pull-out single bed (to the same height and of good quality) to sleep 2. A wardrobe features, drawers and TV to the master bedroom and another built in wardrobe and dressing table areas to the second bedroom.

Guests are pleased asked to note that bed linen & bath towels are included in the tariff. The accommodation is also conveniently pet-friendly, ensuring you can easily bring along your four-legged friend for a holiday!

Free public road parking is up Salty Lane which is within easy walking distance of the cottage.

The picturesque village surroundings of Shaldon are ideal for embracing a carefree getaway, with bakeries on hand alongside a wealth of shops and local amenities. Jam packed with lively cafés, eateries and pubs, Shaldon boasts some highly acclaimed foodie hotspots; from the Michelin star Ode Restaurant and its little sister, Ode Café to the equally impressive No. 1 café and the charming Clipper Café.

Providing a wonderful base for exploring the delights of Shaldon, guests can easily savour a local tipple, family roast or tasty crab sandwich at the local pub, which features to the end of the terrace row. Oozing country charm throughout, with roaring fires, a pool table and a sunny pub garden, the friendly pub offers a great bonus during your stay!

The lane also leads to the idyllic riverside walkway which leads in turn to a large children’s playground and football pitch.

Conveying a sedate and timeless quality from its authentic fisherman village charm, guests can easily picture the bygone age that made the area renowned for fishing, boat building and supporting the country through the zealous might of the industrial age.

Shaldon today is home to a 9-hole golf course, small zoo, lovely beaches and the Homeyards Botanical Gardens. In the August time the Shaldon Regatta offers a wonderful opportunity for coastal fans to descend here to enjoy this lively seaside spot.

The coastal village also operates a charming passenger ferry service to the Victorian seaside resort of Teignmouth and in turn a train operates from there to nearby Exeter, Plymouth & London. By car, guests are within easy reach of the lively delights and amenities of Torquay (just 20 minutes away).

Guests are spoilt for choice for things to do in this delightful part of South Devon, with a wide range of activities and attractions open to all ages and interests.

The passing South West Coastal Path allows a breath taking range of coastal and countryside walks on the doorstep; with nature trails, bird watching and forest walks accompanying most of the routes. The area is also home to a treasure trove of National Trust attractions; making this ideal for days out in all seasons!

Children will find adventure around every corner, from a day at the Zoo, discovering sea life at Living Coasts in Torquay to exploring the smugglers tunnel which leads to the secluded Ness Cove and splashing about at the local beach and scenic Labrador Bay.

There is also a vast range of opportunity to get out and about on the water, with boating trips, water sport activities and sailing clubs. Nearby Dartmoor also offers the perfect chance to enjoy the great outdoors with mountain biking, wild swimming and extreme sports.

Review by Nadia, Mark and Radley the Dog: "Thank you for a lovely break! The cottage had absolutely everything we needed and was in a great location. We didn't need to bring anything as the kitchen was so well equipped and there were lots of tourist brochures in the living room which have us some good ideas for days out. We were quite unlucky with the weather (although it is a British summer so it is to be expected!) but luckily the living room had a DVD player so we had some entertainment during the wet evenings! The pub next door also has new owners who are really lovely, the pub is dog friendly and the food was great. It was a lovely break, thank you for letting us use the cottage!"
