While the villa feels remote, it's actually quite well connected, and puts you in easy reach of numerous activities. To start with, your local village is Lamalou Les Bains - a 15 minute walk away. Here you'll find plenty of cafes, restaurants and facilities - including a small casino, a large open spa retreat, local cinema and weekly markets. The area is famous for its healing waters and the town is largely populated by visitors making the most of these facilites. The area is also well known for it's wine - with many wineries open for tastings and visits. For the more active visitor, there is a 9 hole golf course - complemented by an elegant restaurant and whitewater rafting, kayaking and rock climbing nearby. There are also walking tracks through the mountains, and several old churches and monasteries, accessible either by car or on foot. Find out more about Lamalou on the regional website:
A little further afield - about 20 mins by car, Gorges D'heric is a famous mountain climbing location - but for tourists it's just a lovely wonderful way to spend an afternoon; rock pools, waterfalls and a gentle winding path that leads to a tiny cafe on a mountain top. It's very family friendly and the path is fine for a buggy.
We also run a 4 night yoga retreat in September which will be continuing in March - May 2019 so if you're interested in this, please also message us or look at Villa st Michel yoga retreat on Instagram or Facebook.
There's so much to do in this region, from Chateau and winery tours, to the beach and Aqualand in Cap d'Agde (about 40 mins drive) - and you can even drive to Spain on a day trip! The Spanish border is about 1.5 hours away.
Getting here: The closest airport is Beziers, about 45 mins from the villa. Alternatively, you can go to Montpellier, Perpignan or Carcassonne, which are all about 1.5 hours away. While you can enjoy the local area on foot - and there are plenty of taxis, having a car does open up the area for exploration - the easiest option is to pick up a car at the airport.
