Welcome to Casa Azul, completely renovated and updated to Western standards, very comfortable home. House sits on a quiet cul-de-sac, yet just minutes walking to all the attractions, cafes, restaurants, recreation facilities, pharmacy and even the hospital. If you are looking for a tranquil oasis in the middle of a bustling town, then look no further.
There is the living room with large TV, cable and fast and unlimited Wi-Fi in the entire house, dining room for six, new and contemporary kitchen with granite counter tops, eating island with adjustable, bar chairs, two doors, large refrigerator, microwave, Panini maker, blender and all your needs for the daily cooking. Downstairs, there is also a large bedroom with its own bathroom and wide, sliding door out to the swimming pool and the arched, covered patio. There is also half bath next to the kitchen. Pool, next to a tropical garden has its LED light, automatic filtration system, and two decorative, Mayan gargoyles blowing the water. Covered patio has a ceiling fan, garden furniture and Spanish fountain with underwater light for the evening ambiance. Upstairs there are two spacious bedrooms with large closets and entrance to a common balcony. There is also a family room, full bathroom and big roof terrace for your sun bathing. Last but not least, there is a laundry with a new 18 kg capacity washing machine. All three bedrooms have ceiling fans and A/C.
The house is located in the heart of Merida's Hotel Zone along with Hyatt Regency, Holiday Inn, and magnificent colonial Fiesta Americana Hotel. You will have very convenient access to all city attractions and only 5 minutes walking to the main Merida's street, beautiful boardwalk of Avenida Paseo de Montejo, which is often compared to Paris famous Champs-Élysées. Just a few minutes north is Montejo Starbucks Coffee situated in a grand colonial building and across from the convenient Walmart shopping center. Venturing further, you can take a picturesque Av del Deportista to the largest Sport's Complex in town - Estadio Gral. Salvador Alvarado built in February 1939. The facility is free of charge and open between 5 am - 11 pm. I recommend taking a stroll alongside the walled perimeter for a loop of around 1 km among the mature tropical trees forming green arch above your head. Great place to keep fit with full size football field, full 400 m race track, 6 tennis courts, volleyball and basketball courts, squash and gym equipment, Olympic size swimming pool and plenty of exercise equipment. If you are lucky, you can join the crowd for a fun zoomba dance and exercise. Along the path are vending machines serving cooled, bottled water but you can also purchase drinks and snacks from local vendors by the gates.
Heading south on Paseo Montejo will take you to the best parts of town, Barrio Santa Ana, Santa Lucia Park with free serenade concerts each Thursday and then walking along Street (Calle) 60 you will reach main square - Plaza Grande with the magnificent cathedral and all the night action, fine dining, museums and many outdoor venues including Jarana, the traditional Mayan performances every weekend of the year. Did I mention neighborhood Irish Pub, a hub for local expats community and a 100 m down the road “Noche Mexicana” performances each Saturday, starting at 8 pm and ending at the wee hours of the night. There are food vendors and craft stalls at the venue.
I hope you will enjoy you Mexican experience at Casa Azul. Wishing you wonderful vacation under the “azul” Yucatecan sun. Did I mention that a neighborhood corner store with a cold beer, sandwiched and snacks is just around the corner.
