Now you know how it feels to be a landlord

  • 5 of 5

If you ever want to know how it is to be in Burgundy this is the place. Right in the middle of the authentic village Puligny Montrachet, the best white wine in the world is at literally at the doorstep of the Chateau. We spend a long weekend with friends is this beautiful and tasteful furnished house, where it feels going back in French history. But now with all the luxury you can think of. We took the opportunity to upgrade our own culinary skills by going the lovely food market in the medievel city of Beaune. Here we found the best fresh ingredients for a home made and haute cuisine meal, all made in the fantastic kitchen. We had dinner in the open courtyard, could not be better. In order to stay in good shape we did a couple of hikes right through the most famous vineyards. If you see how small they can be you'll appreciate your next glass of Burgundy even more. The most sporty guest rented mountainbikes and learned that the Cote d'Or is not only beautiful, but also pretty steep. We will come back!

Prachtig gelegen landhuis

  • 5 of 5

Own private 5* hotel you could say, but better!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our return to Le Vieux Chateau 2015!

So to set the scene, we stayed here the 3rd week in November last year with friends and after the best weekend ever - we blocked out the weekend 20-22 November 2015 for our annual weekend away together.

This property is extremly well presented, accomodates easily 6 couples each with en suite bathroom - 'Your own private hotel' you could say but better! Le Vieux Chateau is the 'Stage' for you to enjoy company, life and the best Burgundy has to offer...What we got up to...

Fabulous Friday night - afterwork aperitif dinatoire upon arrival - kicked off the weekend and put us all in good humour!

A few snowflakes fell on the vines at breakfast Saturday morning and off we went for lunch in Beaune, afternoon visit & tasting @ Le moutarderie Falot, and finally back to the Chateau to prepare for the evening. We met in the impressive Oak beam Dormatory for a glass of champagne, while M HUEZ set up downstairs with staff and at 7.45 out 'surprise' for the evening: A pianiste set up -

At 8pm we came down the stairs ( like kings & queens dressed up in cocktail attire!), entered the Salon to the jazz pianiste who played non stop for our cocktail hour 8-9pm Champagne & Hors d'oeuvres... This was a huge suprise to our guests who were completely bowled over and were stunned - 9.30pm dinner was served and as last year, fabulous food, and very well looked after by Mr HUEZ and server.

Sunday breakfast, some people went out for a run, others relaxed and enjoyed a coffee...

To round off the weekend our last luch together - Oysters and Crevettes with ice cold white wine for lunch followed by plateau of Charcuterie & Fromage.

A fabulous weekend with friends, who left as last year - fully content, with great memories and an apetite to return next year the same weekend!!!! 2016....What will get up to?!...

Awesome experience. Felt like we had moved to France and someone had unpacked for us.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week in the Chateau with family and friends. The chateau is very well equipped with all the necessary thins for a house party. The rooms and bathrooms are all modern with some antique furniture - lovely touches. The wine cellar was a very nice surprise for our guests. The village is small but has some lovely shops for daily shopping. The bakery is a true gem. Beaune is nearby for the tourist outings and Mersault is an easy walk . We had a caterer for our celebration dinner, and the kitchen is very well equipped if you want to do it yourself. Looking for an excuse to return.

Our "minibreak" - long weekend with friends...

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous weekend, fabulous weather, fabulous setting, fabulous food & wine, & fabulous company!!! Everybody had a lovely time all round.

We had a big aperifif dinatoire (hors d'oeuves) Friday evening, everyone brought along their own aperitif specialities: which was great fun!

Saturday morning, the boys had Oysters & white wine on the terrace in full shunshine; then off we went to Beaune market & lunch in a bistro. Late afternoon -relaxing at the chateau.

Saturday evening, BourgogneMaison (the management Co) had fabulously orgnanised and co-ordinated our private dinner - chef & owner of HUEZ Olivier (very agreeable guy) was ours for the night with server who was discreet & very pleasant. Aperitif was served in the lounge in front of the fire at 20h, dinner in the dining room around 21h - The food was exceptional, each course was presented by the chef upon serving, and very reasonabley priced. Kitchen was all cleared up dishes/glasses all taken care of.A BIG SUCCESS & one of the high points of the weekend!!

To let you know, It was 65 euros a head for aperitif, dinner, service bread & water included. Amazing to have such good food, 'sur place' no one needing to drive and allowed you to enjoy the 'cadre' of the chateau. Hat of to BourgogneMaison - they really do know the area well and have great contacts!

After dinner splash in the hot tub with Champagne...ummm.

Sunday morning, bike ride through the vineyards & villages, we ended up in Beaune for 12 noon - brasserie Carnot for ice cold bottle of Saint Veran & seafood!

We then had to peddle the 15kms back!!! Lazy lunch at chateau, clean up & home time thereafter...All good things come to an end!

We ALL had a really relaxing weekend and everyone was very impressed with the property & your beautiful renovation.

Definetly, it's a 'to do again' even if we were just 2/3 couples for a quick last minute weekend.

A very good experience from start to finish and no problems at all with the team at BourgogneMaison-they're fab! and contrary to the previous comment - all fees are explained upon reservation.
