This condo comfortably sleeps 2-6 people in the bedrooms......in beds! No inconvenient living room hide-a-beds etc. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and private bathroom/vanity (sleeps 2). The second bedroom has TWO full-size beds PLUS a twin bunk, TV, and private access to 2nd bathroom (sleeps 4 easily) for a total of 6. Plus NEW cabinets and counter tops. LARGER Group? RENT ALL 3! Coin-operated laundry room is just down the hall, steps away for easy access.
Elevator access makes for easy coming and going. Walk thirty feet to sandy beach, pool, hot tub, the beautifully manicure gardens, tennis courts, croquet court, barbecue/picnic areas, volleyball, fitness center, and shuffle board. Take a short walk from the resort for great island boutique shopping, food, and recreation in historic Kapaa.

We have seven children and 15 grandchildren. Farrah and Rachel (our daughters) manage the rentals for us and will do everything possible to make your Kauai visit a wonderful experience.

We love Kauai and especially Kapaa and Pono Kai. The resort is in a perfect location on the island and is very family friendly. The sunrises are spectacular!!! Our kids love to come vacation here year after year. We always find something new on the island. There are truly 101 things to do!!! We have purchased and furnished THREE beautiful condos for rental and personal use.
The ocean and beach are directly in front of the condo. The grounds are meticulously manicured. The 5 mile biking/walking path goes in front of our condo and up and down the island for awesome morning and evening rides/walks. The condo is centrally located on the island (Kapaa) so driving time is minimized. Great restaurants and activities abound all over and we can mingle with the locals and not feel stampeded by tourists. Perfect Hawaiian experience.

This is the second time we rent from the same owners and we very much appreciated their efficiency and kindness.
We just returned from our trip wherein we stayed in B208. We have ZERO complaints about the unit or property and will use this review to provide some insights and perspectives to others considering renting this unit for their stay. Bulletized due to character length:
* Kapaa - centrally located and local vibe. Much better than touristy Poipu and Hanalei/Princeville IMHO. You can reach either end of the island in a little over an hour - without the Kapaa traffic - which there is - it's a bottleneck into Lihue.
*Pona Kai Resort - Older but nice, great location, everything we needed - except ice - that's for resort owned properties (which this isn't). Plenty of parking and BBQ grills. Standard pool and Jacuzzi, that the kids used once. Who needs a fancy lava pool when you have the Pacific Ocean 50 feet away?
*B208 - Great unit, well decorated, beautiful view, 2nd floor, 50 feet from water. Literally, the picutres of the view do not do it justice with how close tot he water it really is. Unit above has weak floor - you will hear them walking around. Beach in front of unit is a beach wall with sand to the right and to the left. Right is filthy with debris and the water is constantly murky - don't recommend it. To the left is much better, water is clear in the morning and murks up in the afternoon. Faces east so you get sunrise everyday, but also the wind (useful for cooling off the unit - just open the slider and the front door and you too can experience your own windstorm :) ). East also means ocean surge, which creates the murk and heavy current. There are pretty spectacular beaches not far away. Kapaa shops and restaurants all within walking distance from the unit. Nice beach pathway for walking/riding. We saw sea turtles and monk seals from the unit. Owner, Manager, and Caretaker were all as accommodating as they could be and very responsive to emails/texts.
*Roosters - or Velocaroosters as we called them are everywhere. Especially outside of your balcony window, at 5:45am, when the people below you think it's cool to feed them pre-dawn. Didn't really matter, as the roosters there are seriously confused and literally crow all the time - not at the unit - on the entire island, and I was up at 5:30am everyday anyway.
Great bang for the buck, would rent this again in a heartbeat. Loved the location and the unit. If we go back to Kauai, we will request this unit. Brian, Larry, and Allie are awesome.

A well provisioned and very clean ocean front 2 bedroom unit on the second floor.
The views were exactly what we expected.
The processes of reserving, arriving and departing were very easy.
Pono Kai is wonderfully situated in Old Town Kapaa with all of its restaurants and shops.
We can strongly recommend this unit.
This unit is an ideal location with a semi- corner setup and great ocean view. Very well equipped and clean. Furniture and beds were comfortable and in great condition. Many extras like coolers, beach chairs and towels, snorkel gear and boogie boards added a nice touch and was very nice for beach trips. We completely enjoyed our stay and hope to return!
We loved our month in this wonderful condo. The location is ideal, as we love walking through Kapaa town, swimming out front without having to drive to a beach, and close to everything. Nice to have nobody above you, washer and dryer in unit, oceanfront lanai. Pono Kai is an older property and the salt air takes its toll on things, but the owners have tastefully decorated this unit and maintained it well. It's not fancy, but it has everything you would ever need. I highly recommend this lovely unit at Pono Kai.
View was awesome. Unit is very dated and needs work. Hair dryer was never found even though manager said it was included.
