I love sports, gardening and to welcome guests in a great house
We speak English fluently!
It's a family house bought in 1958 by J.R.'s mother; she moved from Paris and so did we in 1990. Then I renovated the place and it's been a B&B for 19 years!
Stay and enjoy a charming, cosy, unique French listed home
Our four-night stay at le Belvedere was a friendly and comfortable introduction to our holiday in France. Over the course of the stay, Dominique and Jean-Renaud showered us with very thoughtful care. Arriving after a long drive from the airport in Paris, my wife and I quickly felt at home in Chambre des Dames in their nicely-restored historic house located in a quiet village. The off-street secured parking was a bonus, even if there is a small charge for it. Our needs for a gluten-free diet were nicely accommodated including a surprise cupcake with lit candle on the morning of my birthday. Breakfast was always ample and delicious, and Dominique's suggestions for the day were informative<<<; she gave us good tips on visiting the amazing Loire chateaux and suggested a nearby restaurant where we had the best dinner of our holiday. Late one afternoon they invited us to have a glass of wine and pleasant conversation with them in the lounge. On the last day we needed to fill up our rental car with petrol and when the local automated station would not accept my credit card, Dominique kindly put the charge on hers and we reimbursed her. Would every B&B hostess be so willingly thoughtful? By the end of the stay we felt as if we had been visiting old friends who would help us out in any way possible. Le Belvedere is among the best French B&Bs we have stayed in. Yes, we would certainly go back again8
The B&B is situated in a quaint town just a few minutes drive from Amboise, an ideal location for exploring the awesome chateaus and landscape of the Loire Valley. The B&B is a beautiful historic manor and the gardens and courtyard are wonderful. Dominique and Jean-Richard are teriffic hosts and offered great suggestions, brocheurs, etc. on attractions, restaurants and travel tips. Our suite was spacious and very clean, and the breakfasts were delicious. We would highly recommend B&B Belvedere as a base retreat for enjoying the Loire.
We wanted to stay in the heart of chateau country, and were happy to discover Blere, a charming village near enough to touristy Amboise, but nicely away from the crowds. Le Belvedere is an elegant Belle Époque-style home and garden hidden behind high stone walls and could well be the setting for a romantic movie. But while the home is country-formal, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Dominique, our hostess, speaks perfect English and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the area, which she earnestly wants you to enjoy. Plus, she serves a marvelous continental breakfast with her own homemade yogurt and jams. I would recommend it to friends and would gladly stay again.
But near enough to be convenient to the sights. Dominique was a gracious hostess and very helpful providing suggestions and directions for making the most of our time in the area.
This delightful house will surprise you. You find it in the middle of a developed town. When you enter the front gate, however, you enter a large garden, both in front and in back of a beautifully-restored chateau. Our room was spacious and the breakfast was more than we could eat. The hosts take a real interest in their guests and are eager to provide guidance to travelers. I would definitely recommend this bread and breakfast home to others.
Very nice place to stay with excellent breakfast! Dominque was an excellent hostess.
This is an absolutely beautiful 19th century house with beautiful gardens. We stayed in the family suite. Our bedroom window overlooked a rose arbor that was in bloom. The town is exactly what we imagined a small French town to be. We truly enjoyed walking around in the evenings. It is convenient to the sights of the Loire Valley. Dominique was very personable and full of good advice about what to see and restaurants etc. The breakfast was excellent with homemade yogurt. As a bonus it has parking, rare in France.
