Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Kent

This three bedroom (sleeping six) cottage is cheerful, newly refurbished and will provide an ideal base for a holiday in Margate! With one large double bedroom, and two with single beds, it will cater for most family groups and has a spacious kitchen and living room. The kitchen boasts ample workspace, a five burner hob (and pepsi light!) and is fully equipped - with a table seating six or more. The living room seats seven with TV, DVD, stereo etc. A private, sunny terrace garden to the side is great for summer barbecues and also for secure storage for bicycles. The house is a (brisk) 5/8 minute walk from the Old Town and Margate beach - and is also close to the Cliftonville beaches. Buses to Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Canterbury stop close by and there are 2 (!) supermarkets within a short walk.

Suitability:
  • Long-term Renters Welcome

loved margate!

  • 4 of 5

Lovely house, as described. We really liked the art on the walls. We had fantastic weather and really enjoyed margate, even more than we thought we would.

Only suggestion for the property would be somewhere to recycle the usual stuff.

Thanks again for a great stay.

Great space in a handy location minutes from the sea and Old Town

  • 5 of 5

Peter's home was perfect for our short stay. Plenty of space for a family, very well equipped, light and clean. We took our bikes and were able to store them safely in the shed/side courtyard. It was great to be able to stroll down to the shops and cafes of the Old Town - recommend pizza at GB Pizza and the Lifeboat and Harbour Arm micro pubs. It's very easy to get on to the Viking Trail cycle path along the coast - we made it to Botany Bay but could easily have gone all the way to Broadstairs. Hope to return soon!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments and glad that you all enjoyed your stay. Coastal cycling is great in Thanet - very flat! Easy day rides for keen cyclists along the Viking Trail are Herne Bay or Whitstable in one direction and Sandwich in the other. Broadstairs is also easy with a family - but you have to use some narrow and busy roads part of the way. Better to do it as a beach walk - but make sure the tide doesn't catch you out!

Spacious and well equipped house in a great location close to the Old Town

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay in Peter's very nice house in Margate. It's light, well equipped and clean with plenty of room for a family, and we loved being just a few minutes' stroll from the Old Town, the Turner gallery and the Harbour Arm. There is storage for bikes in an enclosed back yard with a large shed, and we enjoyed cycling the Viking Trail along the coast towards Botany Bay/Broadstairs. Thanks for the useful local information and recommendations. We had a great breakfast at Fort's cafe, just five minutes away.

A very well equipped property, well maintained, clean comfortable and exactly as described

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay over New Year. The property is close to all the amenities in Margate, just a short walk to Turner Contemporary with the old town just around the corner. My daughter enjoyed all the retro & vintage shops and the grandchildren loved visiting Dreamland as did the adults! The Scenic Railway is now up and running and a must for every visitor! Excellent fish and chips from the Parade and there are number of pubs nearby all within easy walking distance. With Lidl & Morrisons close by there was no problem stocking up with supplies. The house was very wam and comfortable and we were all impressed with the very well equipped kitchen and the provision of essential food items. Being able to park near the property was appreciated especially with small children. The firework display overlooking the harbour on New Year's Eve was very impressive. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. As always we are glad that you had a great stay in the house - and enjoyed Margate - even in December and January! One small correction - it's Aldi, not Lidl's, that is close by!

Cosy home by the sea.

  • 5 of 5

This house is well equipped, warm and welcoming. It is situated conveniently for the town and the sea. Very much recommended but be aware that you need to be able to climb stairs.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your great review - and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay in the house and - hopefully - the growing charms of Margate! You are right that the house is not suitable for wheelchair access - and the bedrooms are reached by stairs. It's a consequence of an old house built on a hill unfortunately. Hope that it didn't affect your stay - but we do explain all this in the house description.

A charming cottage

  • 5 of 5

A lovely, well presented property with very easy access to the town centre, old town, theatre and beach.

All essentials are present and our company really enjoyed their stay here.

The only disadvantage is not having any wifi for work purposes.

Thanks for a lovely stay

Car: recommended

Margate is a fantastic base for a holiday in Kent - recently voted amongst the best 10 global vacation destinations by the Rough Guide! Not only does it have wonderful and quiet sandy beaches (some of the cleanest in the UK) and great swimming - but there are some really interesting places to visit during your stay. Top of the list must be the Turner Gallery where there is always a stimulating show on - absolutely free! Over the last few years the picturesque Old Town has been transformed into a retro shoppers paradise with many quirky shops, bars and cafes. Yesterdays can be explored in the Museum or take a trip to the mysterious Shell Grotto and try and figure out it's secret. Margate has lovely beach walks, one of the best fish and chip shops in the UK and a historic jetty to watch the Turner sunsets from! Margate's neighbouring seaside towns, Broadstairs and Ramsgate are both worth a trip and the beautiful cathedral town of Canterbury is a short hop away. If that isn't enough Sandwich, Whitstable and Faversham will all reward a visit and are easily reached by bus or train.
