Nestled in the heart of the spectacular Dordogne Valley in southwest France, this carefully restored 19th century farmhouse combines traditional high-beamed ceilings and exposed limestone walls with a modern floor plan and interior design.

Downstairs, the light-filled eat-in kitchen features hand-crafted oak cabinetry, black granite counter tops, a 200-year-old farm table as well as barstool dining at a cooking island. A spacious, comfortable living room with couch, ottoman, armchair and chaise longue boasts a HDTV flat screen TV with full surround sound.

Upstairs the large master bedroom includes its own private seating area and both it and the second bedroom enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The bathroom on this floor features a teak floor, large freestanding bathtub and walk-in shower with teak bench.

The downstairs annexe offers a single pull-out bed option as well as a bathroom with shower.

The half-acre garden has cherry, pear and apple trees; table and chairs for dining and a barbecue.

It's an ideal place to enjoy outdoor activities and sports as well as peaceful relaxation. There are shops and a variety of restaurants nearby and many delightful tourist attractions including medieval fortified towns, museums, waterfalls, caves and castles. Whether it's the simple pleasure of a coffee on the quay at Argentat or a visit to the Lascaux Caves, the beautiful scenery of the region and the friendly relaxed atmosphere will make this a holiday to remember.

€875 per week and €725 per week in low season. Payment can be made in Euro, US Dollars or Pounds Sterling.

Séjour et maison très agréables

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans une maison très agréable et très bien équipée. La restauration a été faite avec beaucoup de goût et on se sent très bien dans cette maison avec un super niveau d'équipement. L'environnement est très beau et très calme et il y a vraiment beaucoup de choses à faire et à visiter dans la région.

Diane nous a très bien reçu et nous avons eu droit à un accueil fort sympathique.

Nous recommandons sans hésiter

Beautiful house in a stunning location!

A beautiful farmhouse which has been very tastefully restored inside and also has a lovely garden and views. The surrounding countryside is stunning and is great for cycling. We also went swimming in a beautiful lake not far from the house.

The nearby town of Argentat is a lovely setting on the banks of the Dordogne. St Privat is even closer and has a decent supermarket. Both towns have good restaurants and we also visited a fantastic restaurant in the nearby village of Servieres Le Chateau.

All in all would highly recommend!

Vacances magnifiques !

Une maison splendide dans un charmant petit village.

Magnifique jardin, vue sur les monts du Cantal, arbres fruitiers, tranquillité totale...

Décoration design, de très bon goût, cuisine parfaitement équipée, salle de bain magnifique.

Jolie piscine dans le village, cour de tennis.

Magnifiques promenades dans la campagne.

Tous commerces à 15 minutes de voiture.

Seul tout petit bémol : maison non adaptée aux jeunes enfants de moins de 4 ans (jardin non clos et escalier sans rambarde)

Nous avons passé dans cette maison de merveilleuses vacances, reposantes et ressourçantes.

Superbe !!

Superbe séjour dans cette maison au grand calme, très bien équipée, très agréable ! Restauration de la maison très bien réalisée : elle respecte le charme de l'ancien avec des volumes et du mobilier dignes d'un loft en plein downtown.

C'est un endroit idéal pour se ressourcer et prendre le temps de vivre.

La grande piscine extérieure chauffée à 28 degrés avec bassin de 25 mètres, où se côtoient nageurs et familles (une ligne sportive, le reste pour barboter et jouer) se situe à 5 minutes à pieds, j'ai pu aller y faire mes longueurs tous les jours : le pied !

Manque dans la salle de bains une poubelle et un endroit pour poser les nécessaires de toilettes (crèmes...). Dans la cuisine, un peu plus de vaisselle permettrait de faire tourner le lave-vaisselle moins souvent. Pour le reste, tout est de haut standing, qualité 3 etoiles voire 4.

Et attention à l'escalier qui ne convient pas à de jeunes enfants car pas de garde-corps d'un côté.

À essayer et à refaire !!

Charming and beautiful renovated holiday home!

An ideal house to relax and un-stress. Surrounded by hilly pastures and near the Gorges de la Dordogne, one can enjoy the calmness of the environment. The house itself, is well equipped with all the modern audio/video devices you need to relax and to be creative in the kitchen. The openness towards the neighbourhood gives you on the one hand the experience of space on the other hand a little more shelter by means of a hedge towards the road would make us feel a little more comfortable enjoying for instance a nice meal outside.

Overall we felt very much at home in this wonderful holiday house!

Lovely house in tranquil village

We stayed for a week over Easter with children aged 10 & 13. The house was as lovely as it looks on the website but we had under estimated quite how remote Bassignac Le Haut would be (15 mins by car from nearest shop, 30 mins from nearest town). However, after 24 hours to slow down to a more sedate pace of life, we realised to joy of this. It was wonderful to be in a part of France not overrun by tourists, where the roads were empty, the air fresh. There was plenty to do, canoeing down the dordogne, fishing, tennis on the courts in the village. Lots of great places for lunch and supper - you just had to plan to drive to get to any of them (tennis courts excepted). Would definitely return - especially if the weather was guaranteed to always be that good!
