Lovely Town But Avoid Renting From These People

  • 1 of 5

We stayed at this condo June 23rd through June 30th. This was to be a quiet, relaxing, comfortable, clean, beach vacation. Instead the house was not clean neither were the 2 patios which had not been landscaped since last year and the overgrowth of bushes, broken branches, and dirt is what we dealt with and prevented us from grilling and enjoying the patio. The house was infested with spiders everywhere including stove, oven, walls, living room furniture, bathrooms, and both bedrooms. The coffee table was covered with sand, the downstairs bathroom had a horrible smell of mildew and had black mold on the ceiling. The vents were full of spider webs and dust that my husband had to vacuum. The sofa was excruciating to sit on because all you felt were the springs, which was very painful. The refrigerator was warm and the temperature control knob was missing so we could not raise the temperature to keep our food cold. We had thunderstorms, rain and winds every day except for Friday. The locals told us that is why High Season does not start until the 4thof July week every year. We also had to endure the very loud noises starting at 7am from the landscapers prepping the property for High Season. Also 2 homeowners which I had not dealt with unexpectedly showed up Friday morning while I was in pajamas and I felt uncomfortable. On Friday which was the only day we were able to use the beach, we spoke with numerous home owners and renters who explained to us that High Season would start the following day on June 30th. They stated we were completely ripped off by being charged High Season rates during Low Season. We are very upset with all of the above mentioned and the fact that we were deliberately overcharged and already had problems with Danielle responding to us. They knew this was Low Season as per their own calendar on this site. We requested a refund for the difference of High Season vs Low Season and they had the nerve to decline stating we should have told them earlier knowing Danielle avoids your emails after she has your money. I would recommend this lovely town but I would never recommend renting this filthy condo from these deceitful people.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your letter. I am deeply sorry to hear that you came across so many troubles while on vacation the week of June 23-June 30, 2018 at our condo on Maushop Village. Please let me take a moment to clarify a few things. First, I wish you had called me the instant you noticed that the house was not clean. We have a cleaning crew service the house every Saturday and while they do a good job, sometimes connections are missed. I would have been able to solve many of your problems had I simply know about them. The condo has been a family vacation spot and rental since 2004. We have updated throughout the years and make every effort to clearly advertise what you are getting and what price you are paying. We determine when our high and low seasons occur. You were given the price of the condo for this week and you chose to rent it. Our high season begins on Father's Day, it has since we took ownership of the condo in 2004. You were the second week of our high season this year. The landscaping crew works during the week, every week of the summer. You are staying in a community and things like landscaping and trash pick up occur almost every day of the week throughout the summer. We apologize that you were uncomfortable when we stopped by to change out the propane tank and recall your comments regarding having a good week despite the bad weather. I'm sorry you are so disappointed with your stay, however, we will not be crediting your money or time in response to this letter. As I stated before, we can only control what we know about and we would have done everything possible to make your week better (save the rain), if we had only known.

Great time

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had a great time staying at this rental for a wedding. Only complaint was that the toilet paper supply was a little low!

Owner's Response: Glad to hear you had a great time! We try our best to think of everything you will need when renting our unit and give you starters of those items. While we provide the first roll of TP, you are in charge of supplying the rest! Happy summer!

Great place!

Stayed the weekend for a wedding at Popponesset Inn. It was so close and convenient. The townhouse was cozy and comfortable. Mom wants to buy her own retirement property there, she loved it that much!

Thanks!

PERFECT cottage for our weekend stay.

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a weekend at the cottage. Very cozy, clean, and extremely charming. We slept 6 comfortably, the location was fantastic, and the owners were super easy to deal with. We were able to get in a bit early which went a long way. Short walk to the beach and the Popponesset Inn. Would highly recommend this cottage if you're looking for a great weekend getaway.
