Overview

About the property

Rustic-feeling cabin for couples with warm personal touches

Recently built (finished in August 2017), this river-access cabin is built for couples or small families. Heaven's Hideaway was designed to be open and roomy while feeling warm and personal at the same time. Just look at the pictures and you'll instantly be hooked!

On the outside, there is access to the river - you can hear the water from the cabin! - with plenty of yard space for relaxing or exploring nature. There is also a beautiful roomy deck with a new, modern hot tub, a gas grill and ample sitting room. The sitting area of the deck has a gas fireplace for added warmth. Too many pests at night? There is also a large screened-in porch where you can sip wine and talk for hours.

On the inside, Heaven's Hideaway is filled end to end with warm rustic touches in every room. The full kitchen (including dishwasher) has modern appliances, an apron sink, beautiful colors and an island for added counter space. The sitting area is large and roomy. The bedrooms, the loft, the bathroom - you will love every room! Rainy day? We have a game room with bunches of board games! Sit by the picture windows with some coffee and a book.

Beautiful cabin and perfect rive activity location

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was beautiful and exactly as pictured. We loved the screened in porch and hot tub/fire pit area. It's also in a perfect river activity location, there's a great 6-7 mile river trip starting at Inskeep boat ramp and finishing pretty much right at the cabin. Beds and bedrooms were very comfortable, the AC units in the rooms were great. Kitchen had everything we needed. Only somewhat negative that we did not realize was the proximity to next-door neighbors, but it's understandable given the great location. Overall loved our experience and would definitely come back!

Everything you need in a wonderfully appointed cabin

  • 5 of 5

When looking for a great place to get away with friends, this house checked all the boxes. It is beautifully furnished/decorated, included our groups "necessities" for a vacation spot (gas stove, hot tub, indoor and outdoor fire element, remote setting) and was unbelievably clean! The owners were a pleasure to work with, responding very quickly. Although one out of the three of us had no cell service, this was not an issue. Nor was the absence of wifi. We really appreciated the paper goods, basic spices and good quality bedding and towels. We experienced lots of rain during our stay and sought refuge on the screened in porch...playing cards while sipping wine was never more relaxing! We'd love to return in cooler weather to take advantage of the firepit! One final note, the owners were very thoughtful when designing the space...there were hooks and shelves everywhere to hang/organize your "stuff". This kept our shared spaces uncluttered! Love this cabin!

The cabin was nice but no power.

  • 3 of 5

The cabin itself was perfect, but the power was out when we got there. We contacted the housekeeper Kevin in hopes of finding out when the power might come back on but he said he didn't know. There was a gas fireplace for heat, but no battery powered lights and Kevin didn't volunteer to provide us with any so we drove out to Walmart and purchased what we needed. We stayed the night and went to the caverns in the morning. When we got back, there was still no power. I called Kevin back to check on the power situation, got his voicemail and left a message. Two hours later we hadn't heard back so we packed up and left. We could deal with no lights, but couldn't stay another night without water. The power outage was mother natures fault, but we should have been notified that the power was out before we arrived and given an estimated time for when the power would be back on. If you stay at this cabin, and it has power, you will absolutely love it. It is clean and neat and everything you need with the exception of food and drinks is provided.

Owner's Response: It's very unfair for William to blame the power outage on us when it was completely out of our control. (It affected thousands of people all over the area due to a major wind storm). Also, he is not telling the truth. First, we did contact him the second we knew about it (or tried to at least) and got no response. Not only that but we brought water, ice and coolers to him and others in that area voluntarily. We also brought out some generators. When our team asked James about the items, he said "no thanks, don't need them". Had he allowed us to, we would have gladly brought him items to help. We fully expect a lot of guests to be unhappy after this weekend, give the damage and power problems from the wind, but blaming that on responsive and helpful owners is extremely unfair.

New Years Weekend Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Relaxing, last weekend in 2017. The reservation / deposit procedure is confusing with multiple emails on who (VRBO or Shenandoah rentals) / how to pay and follow up emails stating you still owed money when deposit had been paid. House is new, and exceptionally clean. Fireplace and Hot Tub were great - especially with near record cold temps and inch of snow. Satellite TV is very good as well. House Manager Kevin was very responsive to a very minor issue. Gas fireplace pilot light went out but we figured out how to re-light - good instruction in the house "book" . Kitchen was nice - Be sure to bring all the food, dressings, spices, condiments, you need - nearest grocery store is back across the river in Luray. There is no wifi and no cell coverage for Verizon - AT&T had some coverage. We enjoyed being "unplugged" for a couple days (there is a house phone for telephone calls). Shenandoah Rentals sends the "checkout" reminder list via email the day before checkout which we couldn't read without internet/cell coverage but i think we got it about right. Very nice house for 2-4 people, and relaxing way to close out 2017. I would definitely rent here again.

Owner's Response: Thanks for coming out, Howard. Very true that this is an away-from-it-all cabin with no wifi. We wanted it that way :-) but it's cute and well appointed and very comfortable. As far as the reservation procedure, we follow the VRBO rules and send an invoice after the guest commits to booking. I'm hoping Howard didn't dock a star just for that because there's nothing we can do about it. The "HomeAway payments" feature is a huge rip-off to owners, so we choose to use the invoice method. It is better for us and guests - google it and you'll see what I mean. At any rate, glad you want to come out again. Next time, let us know what else about the house or property, specifically, that you didn't like, and we'll work on it.

Peaceful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had such a wonderful time at Heavens Hideaway! It's a beautiful cabin, looks just like the pictures. It's in a great location, the river is just a short walk away. Close to the town of Luray and Skyline Drive and many other attractions but still far enough away that you feel secluded. Shenandoah Rentals is also great to work with! We hope to come back again!
