Tree Top cabin on the Shenandoah River

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,710 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

River front on the Shenandoah River, this cabin is gorgeous and relaxing

Tree Top is a brand new purpose-built vacation rental that just opened in August 2017. It's near our Fish Trap and Green Castle cabins and, like them, is also river-front, sitting up high above the river with an area to walk down to the river's edge. It's part of an 18 acre "fish trap" location that was used by ancient American Indians hundreds of years ago.

Tree Top is a large beautiful property with a modern beautiful exterior and interior. Hardwood floors, stainless appliances, flat-screen TVs - everything is new, luxurious and waiting for your personal enjoyment. The pictures capture some of the beauty, modern design, nature and open spaces. Take a look at those and drink it all in!

Something we're extra proud of - Tree Top was built with disabled individuals in mind. From the front stoop to the wider doorways and low-entry showers/sinks, we did our best to accommodate wheelchairs. The house may not be perfect for every disabled individual - ask us about it if you're not sure - but it was considered heavily ahead of time and incorporated into the design.

In terms of size, Tree Top can fit larger groups of 10 but would also work for a couple or small family. There are three (3) bedrooms and two (2) full bathrooms. The third bedroom is the large loft area you see in the living room pictures. There is a queen and two twin beds in that loft area. The main two bedrooms both have queen beds.

You're going to love your time here. As we work to enhance, expand and grow this property, we continue our mission to be your weekend river cabin of choice. Book now before your dates are gone!

Gorgeous Riverside Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The Tree Top Cabin was everything we were hoping for, and then some. The house was clean and had more amenities than I was even expecting, plenty of linens, stocked with all normal household supplies, trash bags, paper towels, utensils, even extra air mattresses for larger groups.

The views from the porch and out of the large windows were spectacular. The only thing I would give slight warning about is that it's a bit of a walk to actually get to the river from the house. While the river is truly right below the property, the hill makes it too steep to just walk straight down, so there is a path provided but it's a few minutes walk to reach the river.

That being said, once you get down to the river we caught fish left and right, and had a great time paddling around in the canoes provided with the rental.

Excellent experience and would definitely rent again.

Owner's Response: Patrick, thanks for the kind words and telling others! I'm glad you loved the view. You're right about the steepness, and we'll look into addressing that with other options. Glad you guys caught a lot of fish!

This cabin was so relaxing !

  • 5 of 5

When looking for a cabin I needed one that would be accessible for my wife who is in a wheelchair. This cabin accommodated every bit of her needs. The view and the sound of the river were so beautiful and tranquil. One thing that was truly enjoyed was sitting in the hot tub at night and seeing the glistening of the stars above. We would all like to go back!

I travel a lot with HomeAway

The house is beautiful. You feel nestled into the scenery. We were able to watch the sun come up over the Shenandoah Mountains. However, at night while trying to enjoy the fire there were renters beside us with children who would run close to our house and then would shine their flashlights on us. The bedding provided isn’t much to keep you warm at night. We had a flat sheet and a thin quilt cover. A comforter would be nice in the winter time. Also, you have to walk along the path on the side of the house to get to the hot tub. Be sure to bring a robe there are none provided. Our last morning at the house we were woken up by a tractor driving by the house and then a man using a chainsaw outside of our window early in the morning. There are fees to have the rental property remove your trash if you don’t wish to do it yourself. And by removed i mean literally drive somewhere to dispose of your garbage bags. Although actual house was nice I am not sure if it’s worth the price.

Owner's Response: Jen implies a couple things here that are a bit of an exaggeration. First, you do not have to "walk along a path" to get to the hot tub. The hot tub is on the lower deck right next to the house. You simply walk outside and down the stairs, and there it is. Second, the place to dispose of the trash is a nearby dumpster only a little ways down the same road. It is extremely close and we pay fees to provide the dumpster for guests. It is not inconvenient at all and this is very normal for all the cabins in the area. Third, there is very nice bedding provided - that is not something we skimp on. There are extra linens in the closets, and if Jen had mentioned this, we would have immediately brought over more or looked into a thicker comforter (as we are doing now). Everything is as advertised, though we will look into the extra quilts.

New Year's Family Gathering

  • 5 of 5

What a serene retreat to enjoy the wonder of nature. The silence...just the sound of the river...birds forresting in the trees...the crackling of ice on the river edge. We saw eagles, birds of prey...what a treat! Inside the home, it is warm and cozy. Everything you need is there...and what you forgot, you can pick up in an easy 15 minute drive to Walmart or Food Lion (they carry beer and wine by the way). Our favorite activities were building outdoor fires and braving the subzero cold to enjoy the hot tub. Away from the house, you can’t miss the Luray Caverns, hiking trails or rock scrambles at Shenandoah. Owners were responsive and nice. We will be back!

Beautiful property in a beautiful quiet part of the world, just what we wanted and needed.

  • 5 of 5

Staying at Tree Top was exactly what we wanted and needed. It was our first stay there so we didn't know what to expect aside from the written reviews and overall description. When we arrived it was in perfect shape, it was clean, the amenities listed were ALL available, and the hot tub was even ON and heating up for us. There was MORE than enough fire wood, and more than enough blankets to keep us warm at night. Thank you for the amazing weekend, we will most definitely be back next year.

Gorgeous river front cabin, perfect for families and with all the amenities!

  • 5 of 5

I almost don't want to give a good review, because then everyone will want to stay here and we want this place all to ourselves! This cabin was gorgeous - beautiful layout and we enjoyed the fireplace. Our teenage girls loved the loft, and the adults loved the hot tub. All the amenities were there - beautiful clean appliances, big kitchen for family cooking. Even the furniture was top notch (we wanted to take the dining table home with us)! The bath towels were soft and fluffy. Mattresses were SO comfy. Full size washer and dryer in a separate laundry room was very helpful. Wonderful view of the river. Took the kids down there to throw stones in the water - they loved it. My only complaint is that I wished we could have stayed longer :(
