We’ve lived and worked in Silicon Valley since 1982 when we moved from Texas. One of our many favorite weekend pastimes was the drive along 101 to the Monetary Peninsular and the surrounding areas. The vista that stood out most strongly to me was the vicinity adjoining the Red Barn. Trip after trip I’d tell myself that after retirement I’d love to live in that area. And guess what? I’ve not been able to figure it out, but it has happened. San Juan Road, right beside the Red Barn, is now my exit.

I’d love to share this comfortable hideaway with clean fresh air and exquisite, panoramic views with you. At New Vale Retreat you’ll relax and enjoy pure country living at its finest.

What makes this house unique

When the real estate agent asked what kind of house I'd like, I told her:

A duplex that was not a duplex. A house with in the country with panoramic views, including a pond. It had to be in the vicinity of the Red Barn off of Highway 101, and on about 2 acres of well-kept lawns.

And she said: Oh! So that it would be about an hour’s commute form Silicon Valley, and yet close to Santa Cruz, Moss Landing, and Carmel – country life with the bright city-lights, and all that?

And I asked: How did you know . . . can you find it within a couple of weeks?

It’s one of a kind, she said. I can’t promise, but I’ll give it a try.

And you already know the rest of that story. She huffed and puffed and brought this impossible house into a stunning, view. Please drop by and share the dream with me.

This house of approximately 3,600 square feet is somewhat like a duplex. On one side of the “duplex” are three bedrooms and three full baths exclusively for guests. That will be your own, private space.

The guest master bedroom has its own TV, private bath, ample closet space, access to the deck and back yard with stunning, panoramic mountain-vistas. The other bedrooms look out at the gardens in the front yard and vast, open skylines.

Guests also have the complete use of the formal living-dining area with a smart TV, the shared kitchen with modern appliances, a private guest-refrigerator, full access to the deck, the grounds, and gardens.

The owner occupies the other side of the "duplex “exclusively, and shares only the kitchen with guests.

For your additional comfort and convenience, hair dryers, clothes iron and ironing board, a private guest-refrigerator, coffee, tea, and a liberal supply of paper towels are also provided.

Guests will have full access to the internet while benefiting from the protection of a gated property and the security provided by ADT.
