About The Owner

The property owners Christopher & Susan, moved over to this part of Spain in 2006 to do a huge country house renovation. Chris is a dental surgeon and we lived in the North West of England. We have a grown up daughter. We have had many holidays in Spain and especially enjoyed exploring the Spanish inland areas.

The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Monòver

The property is located on the outskirts of the market towns Pinoso & Monovar. When we first visited this manor house we both fell in love with it. The property was formerly a working bodega owned by two sisters. The original wine press we kept as a feature in the large bodega.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The property has stunning panoramic views of the mountains and is set in an unspoilt part of rural Spain.

So impressed with this beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at Grapevine manor for a large family reunion. Its a beautiful place to stay and totally secluded with lots of privacy. The area is beautiful with villages to visit a short car journey away. We had everything we needed for our stay. Lots of space for everyone with beautiful bedrooms, bathrooms, cinema room, kids loved the pool table, lovely courtyard and then the fabulous pool area. We cant fault anything. The photos really dont do it justice its so much more beautiful in real life. Such a relaxing break, waking up everyday to those views. The owners are a lovely family and really friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for letting us stay at the beautiful grapevine manor! Maybe see you soon in Benidorm! Thanks from us all

We were a family group of 20 and we couldn't have imagined a better holiday.

The place is spectacular and more beautiful than any of the photos I saw beforehand.

We made so many memories there that we will treasure forever.

All I can say is thank you so much to the owners for giving us the opportunity to have a family holiday of a lifetime in their beautiful home.

Huge and perfect for big groups

  • 4 of 5

As with all villa bookings you are never quite sure what you are going to get! This property didn’t seem to have many reviews but looked perfect for our requirements (a party of 6 couples).

When we arrived we were greeted by Susan and daughter Jenny who were very welcoming. We dropped off our bags as we were early and then went off to get something to eat in a nearby restaurant. When we finished we went back to the property and Susan and Jenny showed us round. The house was like a maze! Fabulous. Plenty of places to escape if you don’t to be together all the time and also perfect areas to all eat together. Well equipped kitchen and great bedrooms.

The pool area had plenty of sun loungers and an immaculate pool.

Chris (Susan’s husband) popped over in the week to treat the pool and offered to take some of our party up the mountain .. four of our party did that and had a great time, was really kind of him to take the time to do that. He also offered to take us to the local winery but we decided not to go as we were going to make the most of the sunny day forecast for the next day 😊?

There are televisions all over the place and a pool table which we used every night! Had a brilliant break away even though there were a few cloudy days.

Thank you.

Excellent family holiday in a wonderful setting

  • 5 of 5

Fifteen of our family were here on the 26th May for a week. We had a fabulous holiday from the time we arrived and being met at the door by Sue and Jen who were absolutely lovely and very helpful in showing us around and giving us all the info we needed. The four grandchildren were ubelievably excited at seeing the Manor and spent the first twenty minutes running from room to room. The days just got better and better from then, we all thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pool area and the barbecues we had most night’s. The highlight of the week had to be our game of hide n seek in the house, I think the adults had more fun than the children.

We had one minor problem during the week which Chris came and sorted for us as soon as he could, I only mention it because sometimes things can go wrong and it’s good to know help is at hand. Overall we would all highly recommend Grapevine Manor to any group of people wanting to have a relaxing peaceful time together

Thank you Sue, Cris and Jen we will certainly be returning in the future

Upon arrival I would say that the villa was far more beautiful in the flesh. Copious amounts of space for everyone to do their own thing and then gather outside of an evening for drinks and a BBQ. We will be back next year.

In a fertile valley surrounded by vineyards is the town of Pinoso, It is a town that has a history of wealth not only in the financial sense from the fantastic wines and abundant harvests and also because of the Marble Mountain which helped this area to prosper and thrive. Moreover Pinoso has a wealth of history and tradition. The Fiestas are wonderful to see and also to be a part of. Pinoso is a friendly town where the lovely lanes and backstreets can be explored on foot.

There are many great bars and restaurants to enjoy. Pinoso has a modern, well equipped Medical Centre, and there are hospitals in all of the major cities. Most villages have a clinic where medicines are also dispensed.

Being surrounded by mountains with plenty of parks and walks makes the region ideal for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. From cycling to horse-riding, the region has it all.

There are many bars and restaurants offering a wide variety of food and drink from all over the world - both run by Spanish and foreign owners.

The history of Pinoso stretches back to the times of the Iberians and the area was later settled by the Romans and then the Moors during the Arab occupation of Spain.

After the Christian re-conquest, Pinoso was annexed by Aragon and was joined with the town of Monovar until it gained its independence in 1826.

The parish church of Pinoso was ercted in honour of the Apostle Saint Peter in 1743.

Pinoso is renowned for the production of fine wines, rock salt and marble. Pinoso has a population of 7,442 (2007 census) and a municipal area of 126 km2.

The Pinoso Bodega Co-Operative has a storage capacity of some 14,000,000 litres of wine, and sells to the general public at very good prices. The wines are good, and typical of the region.

In February [on the closest Saturday to the 12th], the 'Día del Villazgo' fair is held to commemorate Pinoso's independence as a Municipality.

Perhaps the best of all festivals is celebrated in August, a week not to be missed! The Grand Procession is held on August 6th. The festivities take place from 1st to 9th August.

Pinoso is approx 24km from the famous spa baths in Fortuna. Here you will find steam rooms and water therapy services, swimming pools, hot springs and massage facilities. Fortuna has some very interesting scenery, rather like a lunar landscape!

Day trips to the coast do not involve excessive distance, and living away from the beach does mean you tend to appreciate those visits a lot more. Similarly, many of the ex-pats take day trips to Alicante [by bus or by car] to go shopping in the city.

Murcia itself boasts huge shopping malls where you can buy almost anything you need for a comfortable life in Spain. IKEA has a huge superstore there, and Iceland can be found in La Marina and also in Torrevieja.

Pinoso, Jumilla, Yecla and their surrounding villages have a long history of agricultural excellence, which gives the region a more stable economy. Most noted for its wines, the region also produces Olive and Almond as well as many fruits and vegetables which you can buy at local markets at very respectable prices. Pinoso market opens on Saturday mornings in the Market Square. Algueña market is open on Sundays and has a larger selection of stalls

Fortuna lies to the south of us, and its twin town, Los Baños de Fortuna is internationally famous for its Roman Spa Baths.

Fortuna has a long history and is one of the earliest towns in that part of Spain.

The Baños date back to Roman times when it was a Roman settlement. During that period, the spa baths were built; much of it surviving today. This is a great day out.

Enjoy a day out at the lovely beaches of Guardamar / La Marina / Santa Pola.

Elda & Petrer lie to the east just off the A31 Madrid motorway. The town boundaries are conjoined, making iot difficult to figure out which town you are in half the time!

Elda has a modern, large Hospital which covers the entire area, large shopping centres and retail parks. Much of the town is architecturally diverse, and its narrow streets hide some very interesting buildings.

Elda (Spanish: [ˈelda], Valencian: [ˈɛɫda]) is a city located in the province of Alicante, Spain. As of 2009, it has a total population of 55,618 inhabitants, ranking as the 7th most populous city in the province. Elda joins together with the town of Petrer to form a conurbation with over 85,000 inhabitants. The river Vinalopó flows through the urban area of Elda.

Elda is known for its footwear industry, in particular for women's shoes. Tourist sites include the Footwear Museum, the Archaeological Museum, the Torre del Homenaje del castillo (a tower dating from the 12th century), Castelar Square, Count of Coloma Palace, the Town Hall and the church of Santa Ana. It also celebrates the important festival of Moros y Cristianos.

Petrer (Valencian pronunciation: [peˈtɾeɾ], Spanish: Petrel [peˈtɾel]) is a town located in the comarca of Vinalopó Mitjà, in the province of Alicante.
