|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
The house is divided into two family suites each comprising one king-size bedroom and one twin bedroom with adjoining bathroom. One bathroom has a walk in shower, the other has a large bath. The large kitchen/ dining room is fully equipped with modern energy efficient appliances. The living room has a flat screen TV, DVD CD and music system. The private courtyard garden is entirely enclosed with a view of the forest. A terrace with a barbecue is perfect for outdoor dining.
We are a Anglo-French family- François is French, Jennifer is British with two bilingual children Oscar and Alice. We live in the same street as our holiday home, Les Logis du Théâtre.
We love living in the historic centre of Poligny. We decided to renovate this property to rent as a holiday home as we saw its potential. It is located in a charming area in the historic centre of Poligny. The courtyard garden makes it a haven of peace and tranquillity. It is perfect for holidaymakers getting away from the noise and hassle of city life. The only thing to disturb you during your stay would be the bells from the neighbouring convent or Church and the birds singing in the forest behind the house. You can do all your shopping on foot with local shops providing Comté cheese, speciality sausages and meats, Jura wine and locally produced fresh groceries and a small market twice a week. A stay in Poligny will give visitors a taste of authentic French living unspoilt by the hoards of tourists in other better known areas of France.
The house has been renovated and designed to meet the needs of a large family or a groups of friends. It is spacious, comfortable and elegant with a tasteful mix of modern and traditional styles. There is something for everybody. Whether you enjoy relaxing in the quiet outdoor garden, playing babyfoot in the games room, surfing the internet with the free WIFI or enjoying the local specialities in the wonderful kitchen/dining room- the property caters for everyone.
We had a fantastic two weeks in Poligny this year, based on a recommendation from my sister who visited the previous summer. Jennifer is a wonderful host, on hand to answer any questions and to make recommendations, and also to help you get a taste of living in a French market town. The house really is beautifully decorated - each bedroom has its own character, and both the living room and kitchen are spacious and well-equipped. I would say that it surpassed our expectations. We loved spending time in the sunny garden, which is enclosed by a high convent wall and feels very secluded. Poligny is a good base for exploring Jura - we swam every day in the municipal outdoor pool or in the Lac de Chalain which is half an hour's drive away, and my husband went cycling every morning in the surrounding hills. All shops (bakeries, butchers, deli and cheese shops) and facilities in the town can be reached on foot within 10 minutes. Highly recommended, and I hope that we will be back in Poligny again before too long.
The property is excellent - spacious, secure, comfortable. It is a charming old building on a quiet street very close to the town centre and has been renovated to a high standard. Inside it keeps cool in hot weather, and the garden is enclosed within high walls, making it very sheltered and providing some shade at any time of day, while also retaining warmth on an evening, as well as providing lots of privacy. The owners Jennifer and Francois are lovely people and nothing was too much trouble. Poligny is a great location and a lively little town. Would love to stay here again.
The House is perfectly located (quiet road but near to the center of Poligny), has a very nice closed garden (very good for the kids) with a nice view on the forrest. Very good equiped for families as washing mashine, highchair, baby cot and even a lot of nice games for children of all ages are available. The house is very large and is build perfectly for a holiday with two families: Two bedrooms are each connected via one of the two bathrooms, all bedrooms have a door to living room resp. to kitchen and to the bathroom. Living room and kitchen are connected by the entrance-area, so you can somehow seperate from each other from time to time by staying either in the large kitchen or in the living room.
The whole house and garden are very, very bautifully decorated with all matching colours - without loosing the charme of the old walls for example.
Poligny is a very good starting point for hiking-tours. Shopping Possibilities for day-to-day needs are available by foot.
Everything was perfect, the contact with Jennifer was always very easy and very friendly!
This place is a welcome retreat in a quintessential small french town. It is a short walk from the main street where we visited the local butcher, baker, and of course, cheese shops. The owners welcomed us after a very long day of travel in which one of our two-year olds was car sick. The people we were traveling with had all of the clothing and the owners were kind enough to loan us some pajamas for the kids so we could get them to bed.
The kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms are well appointed with unique art and the twins slept like they were at home again. There was even a little toy closet they could rummage through which they quickly figured out.
This house made me truly believe that I could live in France! It was a true home away from home and I plan on returning again next year if possible.
One other charming note, every time the bells rang (which is often), my son would run outside and jump up and down singing, "The dingy bells!"
