Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday apartment in Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau - Monte Rosa Attic

3 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Sleeps 6

The Monte Rosa is a 3 bedroom Attic apartment, with a beautiful vaulted wooden ceiling. It has uninterrupted views of the north face of the Eiger. Light floods into the very spacious open plan 3rd floor apartment living area from 'floor to ceiling' windows. Take in the stunning scenery from the large south facing balcony. Enjoying evening meals from the comfort of the dining table, with a view of the sun setting on the Eiger vista, we are sure you will agree, is a very special experience.

The 120m2 apartment sleeps 6 (3 bedrooms), with two bathrooms (there is a bath, and a free standing shower), one of which is en suite to the master bedroom. Two of the bedrooms have double beds, and the third has 2 twin beds. The Monte Rosa has a fully equipped kitchen, with high spec appliances. The apartment has its own private covered parking space (under the chalet). There is wireless internet connection, satellite TV, and DVD player provided. There are laundry facilities downstairs. Both a cot and a high chair is available if needed.

The chalet is located in a very quiet private road. It’s both a short walk up to the town centre, and a short walk down to the Grindelwald Grund train station. Conveniently there is a ski bus stop very nearby too. Whether skiing in the winter, hiking in the summer, or just exploring Grindelwald and the surrounding area, the Monte Rosa Attic is a perfect base.

Spacious, modern apartment with amazing views of the Eiger from the huge floor to ceiling windows. Booking was quick and efficient, the apartment manager was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful apartment

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this very clean, well maintained apartment. Everything has been anticipated for the well being of the guests. There are enough trash bags, dishwasher tablets, cleaning products available for the stay. There's even a Nespresso coffee machine with some capsules. Wifi works great and there are plenty of local and international channels on TV. The huge balcony would deserve some lounging chairs to really be enjoyable. If we come back to Grindelwald, we would definitely (well..it depends if you add those lounging chairs... :-) rent this attic again

Magnificent view, spacious, modern apartment

  • 5 of 5

The penthouse ("attic" doesn't do it justice) was amazing. The views are stunning, just as advertised. There is a large communal area with plenty of space for resting and dining. The kitchen is new, but could do with a bit more equipment (baking trays, large pots, tongs etc). Some of us are pretty tall and knocked our heads occasionally on the roof beams at the edge of the kitchen (the roof is cathedral style) and the extraction fan - beware! The three bedrooms were smallish, but fine. The two bathrooms were well maintained. The whole place is clean and modern. There is a good sized balcony looking out on the Eiger. The apartment is on the 4th floor and there is no lift, but we knew that ahead of time. We did not drive, but there is undercover parking under the building. The apartment is a short (about 5 mins), but somewhat steep walk from Grindelwald train station and the bus stop (buses take you to First and Manlichen gondolas). Dermuid ("D" in many of the posts) gave us a great introduction to the apartment and things to do in the area. We stayed over Christmas and had a wonderful time. We highly recommend the skiing, train to Jungfraujoch (expensive - 180 euro, but awesome), visits to Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen (watch out - Trummelbach Falls were closed at the time we went, so we wasted a bus trip and about 1 hr) and Wengen.

Wonderful Attic apartment in Grindelwald

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice stay at this wonderful apartment which is modern and very comfortable. For 6 persons it is very spacious with 2 nice bathrooms and a fabulous and fully equipped kitchen. The views from the large windows and balcony are indeed stunning. On arrival, the apartment was very clean and well maintained. Wifi worked excellent (essential for 3 teenagers nowadays), a short interruption was fixed instantaneously by the property manager. He provided also very friendly and helpful directions, the children liked the First Flyer and the Seilpark in Interlaken very much. When renting this apartment, climbing the stairs to the 4th floor has to be taken into account s there is no elevator.

We certainly consider returning in the future.

Spectacular apartment and location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a brilliant week based in Monte Rosa.

The apartment was a 5 minute walk from the train station/town centre and has a fantastic view over the Eiger and across to Mannlichen. It is very well equipped with Miele appliances, good beds and bedding, TV and wifi. There are 3 good sized bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (good showers) and a huge open plan living area with full height glass wall so you can always take in the view. Large south facing balcony with furniture.

The Jungfraubahn pass meant we didn't drive the whole week. It covers the majority of the area, with the exception of the Junfrau and Schilthorn. There are a confusing number of travel passes available in Switzerland, all with different coverage, so do your research carefully!

D (apartment manager) was very knowledgeable and helpful.

The area has miles of well prepared mountain trails, spanning all abilities. They were really quite quiet. Lots of mountain biking, but there are also quite a number of road bike HC climbs from the apartment which are virtually car free. The Alpenbrevet route starts in Meiringen (in the next valley).

Our teenage girls enjoyed the zip wire and Trotti-bikes at First, the climbing parcours and swimming pool at the sports centre and the toboggan run at Pfingstegg.

Would highly recommend the apartment and area. We plan to return.
