Villa Maria is a detached house with private parking in a quiet farming village. It has a wonderful outdoor area with an enclosed patio with table and chairs leading to a barbecue and lawn with swings for the children.

All the bedrooms and kitchen lead onto balconies to enjoy the views of the mountains and forests.

There are 2 main bedrooms each with a large double bed and en suite bathrooms with showers. The third bedroom has a bunk bed and single bed for 3 people and the fourth bedroom has twin beds.

There is a further bathroom on this floor with a bath.

The main entrance area leads into a hallway and to the lovely open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge. The kitchen is fully fitted with a large fridge, freezer, hob, oven and dishwasher. There is all that you need to cook your own meals!

The dining area has a wooden table with a bench and chairs. The table can extend to seat 9 people. There is a further table to dine at with benches and chairs outside on the balcony.

The lounge has a wood burning fireplace for the chilly evenings and a corner lounge suite. There are large comfy bean bags to fall back into and relax!

A further bathroom with a bath and shower above it, is also on this level.

There is a second lounge/games room with a further television, dvd player and dart board. This room leads to the covered patio area which has table tennis and table and chairs.

In the basement area there is a sauna to relax those muscles after a hard day of skiing or hiking. A wet room with toilet and shower and a separate area with washing machine and tumble dryer.

A magical experience, similar to living in Narnia! A perfect family home.

We can not fault this incredible property and area within the national forest. The setting was stunning, the views staggering and the house was perfect for our two families. The house was well equipped, clean and spacious enough for 4 adults and 5 children to live comfortably. It was an incredible drive to get there, close to amenities, but far enough away too. Jackie and her company were exceptional and we will definitely be heading back again soon!

Excellent , well equipt, quiet , fun and clean. Truly remarkable place. Kids and adults had much fun and rest alike. The Location is a bit far from any town, but that said, the place is a base for an excellent vacation , worth its price and more.

Villa Maria

Villa Maria is an extremely well equipped, spacious and comfortable house. Blissfully quiet and with magnificent views of the Julian Alps. The letting policy is flexible, i e people may rent half the villa for half a week. The owners' agents are nearby in the unlikely event of any problem. It is suitable for all age groups, and there are excellent facilities for children.

A car is essential, though there are pleasant local walks nearby. Bohinj Bistrica, the closest town, has a very good supermarket, post office, and tourist information office.

Lakes Bohinj and Bled are both well worth visiting: highlights of our particular stay were the ancient town of Radovljica, a cable car ride to the ski resort of Vogel, and a strenuous climb up 510 steps to Savica waterfall.

En route to Ljubljana, the medieval town of Skofja Loka is full of fascinating buildings and has good restaurants. Ljubljana itself has much to offer.

The Slovenians are very friendly and helpful, and speak excellent English. The whole country is un-believeably litter free, and public lavatories are pristine everywhere.

Comfortable, spacious house in a peaceful location

The property is not far from Ljubljana airport, is easy to find and in a wonderfully attractive and peaceful location. It was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and very well kitted out - really comfortable bedrooms, nice bathrooms (and lots of them!) and sitting room, everything you could want in the kitchen, and a great games room, ping pong table etc which the kids loved. We had a great week, seeing Bled and Ljubljana and walking in stunning mountain scenery. We also ate very well at every restaurant we visited. We'd love to come back, in winter as well as summer.

Un sueño hecho realidad

Todos los años alquilamos dos casas, y ésta ha sido, sin duda, la mejor hasta la fecha. Se trata de una casa muy espaciosa, enormemente equipada y situada en un maravilloso enclave natural. Se pueden hacer muchas excursiones desde ella, siendo muy buenas las recomendaciones que nos hicieron al llegar. Si alguna vez podemos, volveremos a alquilarla.

The Bohinj / Triglav National Park area

The Triglav National Park is the only national park in Slovenia. It is named after the highest mountain in Slovenia which is situated in the heart of the park (2864m).

Lake Bohinj is a truly beautiful lake, with crystal clear water, full of fish and lovely bays, surrounded by the Juian Alps which literally rise up out of the lake making a spectacular yet tranquil setting with lots to do including boating, fishing, bathing, climbing, hiking, biking or simply feeding the ducks!

There are so many places to visit

The Gorenjska region

The Gorenjska region is one of the most popular tourist regions in Slovenia. It is an alpine region characterized by spectacular high peaks, sharp ridges, deep gorges, the gushing sound of waterfalls and lovely peaceful lakes making an ideal setting for sightseeing and outdoor pursuits. The weather is generally hot and sunny in summertime with plenty of snow in winter for winter sports.

For day trips the beautiful capital of Ljubljana is just over an hour's drive with it's lovely old town and endless bistros. The Skocjan Caves (a UNESCO world heritage site) are under two hours drive. The breathtaking Soca Valley is also a very scenic two hour drive (or a 60 minute train ride through the mountain). Austria and Italy are within easy reach with day trips to Venice a possibility.
