Freestanding cottage with own bathroom, kitchenette, living area and upstairs bedroom with super comfortable double bed. We have a baby cot available for a child put to 2.5 years. 2 bikes are included in the price!

The cottage is on the same grounds as our house, surrounded by our large beautiful garden, with open view over the countryside and next to the canal That leads straight into Amsterdam! We live in a perfect place just 10 minutes from Amsterdam and 15 minutes from lovely trips to Volendam or Marken and the rest of Waterland.

So it's the best of both worlds: close to the city and still you're in a nice and quiet area with lovely views over typical dutch landscape with meadows and grazing cows.

We have 2 bikes available included in the price for biking trips around Waterland, with it's cute historic villages, or you can rent a boat and explore this area from the water or even navigate your way into Amsterdam for a trip to the Van Gogh museum, Anne Frank house or see stunning new architecture on the waterfront of the IJ.

Coffee and tea are always available, as well as a few basics to get you started.

Nearby is / are a pancake restaurant, tea garden, organic farms to visit, dress yourself up in Volendam like a true fishermen or find yourself in Marken, a village like it was 100 years ago where you can watch How They carve wooden shoes or just enjoy the Amsterdam museums, restaurants and nightlife! Also the Zaanse Schans with its old windmills is well worth a visit.

There are lots of things to do and we would Gladly help you with tips, maps and planning.

Who are we? We are Bas & Margot, our children Bink and Pippa, and our cat Mimoun. Up till five years ago we lived in the center of Amsterdam, our beloved city. But Because we wanted more view and a bit of quiet, we moved here ... and have not regret it since!

Pretty cottage with lovely hosts!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage itself was kept amazingly and was exactly what we were looking for our break away! The host Margot was lovely and welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. The location of the property is secluded but is only a short walk away from the bus station which took us right into the centre of Amsterdam! The surroundings are also very tranquil and relaxing. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Amsterdam!

Beautiful and relaxing stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved our stay at Margot's cottage. The cottage is clean, tidy and nicely appointed. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and peaceful, with neighboring towns straight out of a storybook. We both felt we got the best sleep of our 12 day trip during the 2 nights at this cottage. We enjoyed use of the bicycles for quick rides to/from the bus stop into Amsterdam, as well as a morning ride through the countryside. You can also ride easily all the way into Amsterdam, or take the bicycles to the ferry---all lovely options. The location is ideal for what we were looking for, a bit of quiet countryside with easy access into Amsterdam. Our only regret is not staying longer!

Wonderful cottage in the country so close to the city.

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in this tiny cottage. This was our first Home Away experience and what a good start. Margot a lovely woman met us with keys & detailed instructions for the cottage. She was very helpful explaining how to get in to the city. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. It was quite hot the 3 days we were in Amsterdam & the bedroom was very warm, but there is a fan & with the windows open we managed. If you have a problem with stairs this won't be the place for you as they are quite steep. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Schöne, kleine Ferienwohnung mit allem, was man für schöne Urlaubstage braucht

  • 5 of 5
