About Marcelyn Campbell

We looked for 18 months before buying this house & my wife fell in love with it as soon as we walked through the gate. It's situated in a pretty village, surrounded by countryside but still within easy reach of the town & local amenities.

Marcelyn Campbell purchased this house in 2005

Why Marcelyn Campbell chose Le Pêchereau

It's spacious throughout, has lots of charm, provides for lots of activities & is very relaxing. Set in almost an acre of grounds . Although it can sleep 10 we try to limit guest numbers to around 7 to help minimise wear & tear.

What makes this house unique

It's in a traditional french village & within easy reach of local attractions, airports & village centre.

Massive property with lots of character

  • 5 of 5

Perfect for 10 people, lots of space inside and outside the property.

The house has great character and we welcomed the size of the place with two families staying there, the master bedroom is fantastic!

Not a great deal to do in the local area but perfect for relaxing and making use of the house and it's grounds which included lots to facilities for our children, basketball, swimming, bikes, trampoline, etc.

Only suggestion I would have is to provide Wifi.

Owner's Response: So pleased you enjoyed our home. The Internet access code can be purchased from the Orange shop or any of the local Tabacs so we will include a couple of options and directions with our welcome pack. Thanks for letting us know and hopefully we will see you again.

Stunning house in beautiful grounds

  • 5 of 5

This is a genuinely beautiful house and far surpassed our expectations. The quality of the furnishings and the decor is fabulous. We made full use of the house and the pool. The pool is well maintained and a really good size for swimming. The house is very well equipped and it's lovely interior meant that evenings spent watching the many DVD's and playing board games with the children was a pleasure.

We used the cycles provided daily to fetch bread and croissants from the local supermarket ( an easy 1km ride away along the pavement) The areas for sitting outside are lovely and we used the barbecue regularly. We ate out at the nearby Le Petite Roy restaurant; the terrace for eating outside, overlooking the river was beautiful and the food was excellent.

Argenton is a really pretty town and has all the shops you need. Gargilesse, a 20 minute drive away, is beautiful. We travelled as far as Bourges for a day trip. This was beautiful and worth the drive.

We stayed for two wonderful weeks and could have stayed longer. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone and look forward to returning in the future.

Beautiful house and grounds, great location

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with four friends in early June - it really is a gorgeous house, with lots of character. It doesn't feel like a rental property at all, and there was lots of space for us all.

The garden is huge, and the pool is the perfect size for swimming or relaxing. We also made good use of the barbecue and table tennis (which is in the basement - perfect evening activity!).

Argenton is a very pretty nearby town, and we also travelled to Le Blanc, which was also lovely - the house is very close to lots of lovely areas for running or walking as well. There are also some excellent restaurants nearby; we particularly enjoyed Le Petit Roy, about three miles up the road.

Gorgeous home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week with our 3 children and grandparents at the end of August. The house is wonderful, a home rather than a rental property. Beautiful furniture and atmosphere. We had lovely weather and spent most afternoons by the pool enjoying the lovely garden. Beautiful running/walking tracks in the hills behind the house with nice views over the countryside.

Very close to supermarket and the small town of Argenton, a nice provincial town but not much was open at this time of the year. We explored the villages further up the river and enjoyed kayaking at Croziant. It is an hours drive to some of the better chateau in southern Loire and 2 hours drive to Tours.

A wonderful place to relax as a family and only 5.5 hours from Calais.

Beautiful house near stunning town

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely house for a week with my mum & sisters in a large group. We had such a great time, the house is beautiful, the outside very traditional & rustic and the inside has been lovingly restored to a high standard. The house is huge so lots of space to relax, play games & dine together etc. There were two young children in our group who loved the garden, which is very large & fun to play in. We were a bit unlucky with the weather as all the locals said August is usually guaranteed sunshine & it was very rare to get cloudier cooler days, so this made the pool a tad cold! The pool itself is perfect, a good size & in good weather would be perfect for cooling off.

A great supermarket is about a 10-15 walk away & has everything you need, the town Argenton is a 5 minute drive or about a 30 minute walk.. Argenton is gorgeous with so much character & great for taking photos ... We also went kayaking there.

If you're looking for somewhere with character, near a stunning town that's only 5 hours from Calais then I can highly recommend this house!
