About the property

2 bedroom, 2 en-suite barn sleeps 2-4 with rural and mountain views

Teach na mBo is in a beautiful part of the Connemara National Park? The Wild Atlantic Way runs down our small lane to our local pier where we have one of the best views out to the Aran Islands and the cliffs of Moher.

Our traditional, 2 bedroom cottage, situated on our small working farm, combines the traditional cosiness of a thick-walled stone cottage with all the requirements of modern home living - including WiFi. PLEASE NOTE THIS PROPERTY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 5.

The main living area is open-plan with wooden floors, beams and a turf-burning stove which gives off the tantalising smell of Connemara. Turf (peat) is provided. Patio doors open out onto the small paved walkway to the house and give views of the shared garden and out towards fields bounded by the traditional stone walls found in this part of Ireland.

The main living space also includes a dining table seating four. Our fully equipped, contemporary kitchen area has granite worktops and the integrated appliances you would expect from a home of this quality, including hob, fan- oven, microwave, and dishwasher. A comfortable sofa, chairs and lovely soft furnishings complete the look. A small flat-screen TV is provided with satellite freeview channels, Irish channels and a dvd/blueray player.

The wooden floor is carried through to Bedroom 1, which has a traditional cast-iron framed, Kingsize bed with hotel quality mattress, topper and all bedding. There are plenty of built-in wardrobes and a hotel-style tiled, large en-suite with bath and large, separate shower.

Bedroom 2 is accessed via a flight of steep stone steps down to a twin room - again with high quality soft furnishings and bedding. This room also has a hotel-style, tiled en-suite shower room.

There is also a US-style laundry cupboard housing a new washing machine and separate condenser dryer.

Outside there is a dedicated parking space and extra parking in the shared farm yard - access to a garden, a small paved area, a BBQ and outside eating space with table and chairs.

We have aimed to provide a home-from-home and you are welcome to help yourself to anything else you might need from our garage which contains a shared table tennis table. If available you can borrow stuff for the beach - chairs, portable BBQ, fishing nets for rock-pooling - just help yourself.

At a glance:

Sleeps 4 adults in comfort

2 large bedrooms 2 en-suite

Not suitable for children under 5.

Hob, fan oven, dishwasher, washing machine, condenser dryer, freeview TV, DVD player

Top quality bedding and house and beach towels included.

A beautifully presented cottage making a perfect place to explore from.

Janet and Michael have a wonderful property to base yourself and explore a beautiful part of Ireland. Your relaxing vacation begins even before arrival as their communication is great and ensures you have easy to follow arrival info (A car is recommended) Along with this is a comprehensive pack for planning days out that they've actually experienced, days that they've yet to do. Restaurants, 'teach tábhairne' (practice with google translation :-) you are inn Irish speaking part of the island) and shops. Having this information beforehand allows you to start planning your stay early.

Janet and Michael were away during our stay, but Bernie is nearby and although everything is modern and well presented, we had a very minor issue and once mentioned to Bernie, was rectified immediately. Thank you Bernie.

The living accommodation has more than enough space for 2 couples which we had for our stay and the kitchen and equipment, perfectly equipped. The log burner for traditional turf is not only wonderful to relax by, but efficient too.

Janet and Michael's hospitality also extends outside with the sharing of their outdoor games and equipment, a nice addition.

Thank you again for sharing your property.

Wonderful property, attentive house manager

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary from 2-9 Nov 2016 at Teach na mBo. For us the cottage and the location were perfect. Janet provides plenty of information for planning local outings and the countryside of the region makes for wonderfully scenic drives in the west of Galway. If the owners are away you are well cared for by their local rep, a lovely lady named Bernie.

Cozy, clean, bright and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in late September. Roomy for 2 couples The windows and patio doors allow a lot of light and a view of Galway bay in the distance. We arrived later in the afternoon and had no problems getting into the property. It was good to have some food essentials There is a shop close by for groceries. We enjoyed the recommended pubs that offered great food and trad music A great location for exploring the area. Note that we did get 100% of our deposit paid and refunded on credit card back due to exchange rates.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review and I understand your frustration about the deposit refund being subject to exchange rate changes. Unfortunately this is outside our control as we use the Home Away booking and payment system and all payments and refunds are made by them. You are our first visitors to ever have an issue as currencies have been stable but unfortunately your visit coincided with Brexit and the uncertainty over the UK exit from the European Union has led to the euro/dollar rate fluctuating wildly. We are sorry this has happened but is entirely beyond our control. That said thank you for your 5star review and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Janet and Michael Conneely

We highly recommend this home. It was sparkling clean, well-appointed and roomy. Janet was kind and helpful with recommendations for restaurants and "things to see". This property will exceed your expectations.

Quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was a quiet retreat on a country lane near Galway. We picked blackberries and apples for a yummy dessert fixed in the modern kitchen. Comfy and cozy and a perfect locatio to drive around that part of Ireland.

Owner's Response: There were lovely baking smells coming from the cottage during your stay just right for the autumn weather we had in late August.

Very relaxing and gorgeous farm house

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay! The farm house had everything we needed and more. Janet has taken the time to give her guests all the information one would need to have a wonderful time in the area. The walk to the pier and beach is very nice. The whole week was excellent. Beautiful farm house!
