A charming early twentieth century cottage with three good-sized bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a spacious and airy living room opening onto a very sunny south-facing garden. There is a modern fully-equipped kitchen. With one king-size, one double and one twin bedroom, this house would be ideal for a family stay in London.

The house is in East Acton, a quiet and friendly residential neighbourhood with excellent transport options located in West London, close to Notting Hill and Shepherd's Bush. A three-minute walk from the house takes you to Old Oak Common, an open conservation area the size of Hyde Park. The area's an excellent option for anyone who wants the convenience of being next to a zone 2 tube station, but a quiet and open environment.

Getting around

The East Acton Central line tube station is three minutes walk away. It's then 3 minutes on the tube to the Westfield Center, Europe's largest urban shopping center, 5 minutes to the many amenities of Shepherd's Bush, 8 minutes to Notting Hill, or 15 minutes to Oxford Circus.

Great spot for a family visit to London

We just returned from a week in London with two aunts and two nieces (19 and 27 years). The home was comfortable and perfectly appointed for our needs. Spacious rooms and well-equipped kitchen, plus a charming backyard with patio all lent an air of home to our visit.

Things to know -

1) The subway is about 3-4 minutes walk from the house, so easy access. However, this is a stop with steps only to the platform, so take that into account when traveling with suitcases. It is about seven stops from the heart of London.

2) We used the Heathrow Connect train plus the subway and walking to get to the house on arrival and found it easy to navigate, even when tired from flights from the US. We used Uber on the way back, however, as we had a noon flight. The cost was about double due to rush hour traffic surge pricing (L63) but that less or about even for four people on the public transport route, and certainly easier.

3) There is a very large mall two subway stops away with a grocery store as part of the complex. Plenty of choices there for some morning staples to start each day.

4) The neighborhood is relatively quiet, as it all residential, and the house is nicely landscaped in the back with hedges and flowering shrubs for privacy.

5) There are two bedrooms upstairs with a large bath and one bedroom on the ground floor with twin beds, and another bath. Beds are comfortable and there is adequate storage space for clothes and toiletries.

I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a great base camp for their vacation to London.
