Expected rustic, not indoor camping with multiple fire hazards
We arrived at the residence 3am due to traffic and weather. Building was not with number on it so that made it difficult to find especially in the dark. No outside or inside lights were on either. Once inside we discovered the thermostat does not work and the owner had in her directions to us told us to use the space heaters provided. We plugged in and turned on the living room space heater and put our food in the refrigerator. Within 10 minutes the power went off in the kitchen. We opened the refrigerator and noted there was no power to the refrigerator plus we then saw it was not plugged in to any outlet. The only working outlet for the fridge was just outside the bedroom next to the kitchen. We moved the fridge there, plugged it in and went to sleep in the bed, exhausted after the 8 hour drive there. We also unplugged the space heater. Of note the residence was in major disrepair. Ceiling light in the bedroom was hanging by the electric wire. Bedroom closet doors falling off the tracks and the closet knobs coming off in our hands when we tried to open them. Upon contact with the owner later in the morning - as we did not attempt contact till a reasonable hour that morning-and in subsequent contacts for repeat power outage leaving us without lights/heat, we were repeatedly lectured about not having multiple appliances on as this she was sure was the cause of the breakers going offline and leaving us without power or heat. We in turn repeatedly told her this was not the case as we were not running multiple major appliances. The owner then blamed the tenant on the other side of the building for this problem, although the tenant was out and not running multiple appliances per her own report. The owner did have her property manager get the power back on, but then was of the bizarre belief that we had brought our own refrigerator to the property. We repeatedly told her that we did no such thing and that we arrived in a SUV - no ability to bring a fridge in that! The last straw was when we told the owner that it was cold and dark in the unit to which she asked “is it really dark there at 5pm?” We replied that for the rate paid/night we expected light and heat. I am in my 70’s and my wife in her 60’s. I do not believe having light and/or heat is unreasonable. We called the town building inspector who came out and was there for at least an hour due to the numerous hazards. We can attach his letter to the owner to this review…

Adequate but needs some attention
It was clean. Having kitchen facilities and a washer and dryer were great. However, there was no note with a name and address to contact to say I’d arrived or to call if I had a problem. Or what to do with trash. And for some reason this app wasn’t responding. Things needed: smoke alarm and window repairs. No smoke alarm. Is that even legal?Only 4 windows had screens and they all had to be propped open with a piece of wood. At least one window shows signs of breaking apart. Many neighbors are having their windows replaced, so there are businesses capable of doing this.

Worked Perfectly
This apartment worked perfectly for me and my cello as we attended Summerkeys. It is a short walk to all the places where my lessons/rehearsals were held. The apartment is comfortable, light and airy. While the owner is in the process of updating the space, the bathroom and kitchen worked well, and the living area has comfortable seating for reading in the evenings.

Beautiful small coastal Maine town!
Overall we had a lovely stay and the house is right in the downtown of tiny Lubec - a few minutes walk to the ocean and Lubec is charming and quiet and everyone we met was very open and friendly. The rental is one half of the downstairs of an old (late 1800s?) home so it has lots of charm. It was plenty big for my husband and myself and our daughter. And it is a great value!
