About the property

Double bedroom, shower room, open plan lounge/kitchen, parking, garden & patio.

These purpose built Suffolk Lodge holiday homes are set within 4 acres of private grounds within the medieval village of Coddenham. The Lodges have their own entrance and private off road parking area with paved footpaths leading to a decking ramp for the front door or continuing to the paved patio area for alfresco dining.

The Lodges have an open plan lounge and kitchen/dining area, which over look the paddock towards the village, with a spacious double bedroom and shower room. The lounge offers a sofa, freeview flat screen television that is PC compatible, DVD player . The kitchen benefits from having an oven with built in grill, 4 ring hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, built in fridge with freezer compartment, crockery, cutlery and all utensils.

Each Lodge has a paved patio, accessed through French windows, with table and chairs for you to enjoy the outdoors and lovely views along with a grassed garden area.

All linen and towels are provided.

The Lodges, and indeed Coddenham, are ideally situated for you to make the most of exploring Suffolk. We have numerous walks right on our doorstep, and wildlife galore visiting the property. Coddenham itself boasts the medieval St Mary's Church, Coddenham Food Store which provides fresh bakery, veg, deli, off license, gifts, outreach Post Office and cafe, then there's the Community Sports Hall with its tennis courts, badminton court and bowls green, the Country Club and the Duke's Head Pub. The heritage coast with the towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold are only a 45 minute drive, and Constable country with the towns of Flatford and Dedham are just a 30 minute drive. Don't forget to visit Lavenham and Long Melford, wonderful for an antiques hunt, again only a 30 minute drive.

In fairness to everyone, and to all the wildlife around us, we do not accept pets. If you haven't already visited Coddenham, why not? It really is a great place to base yourself for exploring Suffolk, and choosing to stay in one of our Lodges offers you comfort and privacy with the security of having an owner on site should you need anything. PLEASE NOTE : BOTH LODGES HAVE PRIVATE OFF ROAD PARKING WHICH IS ALMOST ESSENTIAL IN THIS VILLAGE.

Pleasant stay in lovely Suffolk

  • 4 of 5

Our cabin was perfectly clean, tidy and welcoming. The location was good for us as a base to explore the coast and country. It was shame the village pub was closed but the local shop provided all the basics, and a reasonable selection of wine and fresh produce.

Lovely Lodge. Clean and spacious. Warmly greeted by Grahame. Lodge in lovely setting, quiet and peaceful. A pretty village with lovely church but can be busy with traffic. Had a great time. An ideal base to explore all the attractions of Suffolk. Would recommend and return.

Everything we needed.

  • 5 of 5

Coddenham village is a little out of the way, and the roads are difficult, being narrow and hard to negotiate if there is even slight traffic. Care has to be taken when coming out of Love Lane and into the village. However, as a base for exploring Suffolk, it has good routes within reach. We recommend Sutton Hoo and Aldeburgh, Woodbridge, Martlesham Heath and the River Deben, the nearby Needham Lakes and Stowmarket.

The Lodge was clean, comfortable and had everything necessary for our stay. Grahame was the ideal host, giving us the option of contacting him at the house, then leaving us to ourselves. An added bonus was the coincidence that he was born in my own birthplace city and lived in the village where I grew up. Of course he was friendly: most of us from that area are! A very enjoyable holiday.

To those who have traveled along the A14 and experienced the horrible 40 mph delays from Cambridge to Newmarket: try junction 37 and the A142/A141.

Hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

This was our fourth visit to the beautiful Squirrel Lodge. What a delight! The lodge is superb - beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. Grahame, the owner, is the perfect host and has thought of everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing break. Set in fantastic grounds and nestled in the quiet village of Coddenham, yet within easy reach of Ipswich and Southwold, Squirrel Lodge is perfectly located to explore Suffolk.
