The house was beautiful, spotless, and well-equipped! The location was perfect for walking into town and getting in and out of town. We couldn't have asked for more!

Charming, peaceful base for exploring Arles

  • 5 of 5

The house is exactly as it appears from the photographs. It is really attractive, peaceful and comfortable, and a convenient base from which to explore Arles. Lise was very responsive and helpful about making arrangements beforehand and welcoming us to the house. We decided to visit Arles to go to the Ludovico Einaudi concert in the Theatre Antique, which was an incredible experience. Arles is lovely and we were very happy with our stay.

Great place for experiencing life in Arles

  • 5 of 5

I'll start the review by saying we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The home was great for our time in Arles. It had all of the attributes that matter to us (clean, 2 large beds, comfortable spaces for hanging out, sufficiently stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, great location and wifi). Lise is a wonderful and helpful hostess. She was very easy to communicate with and she was great at showing us around the house, explaining how everything worked and recommending sites/events to see. The entire experience was great for us.

There have been a few reviews that mention the adjacent road noise and parking. There are advantages and disadvantages to the location. For us it was an advantage since we had a car and took day trips to the surrounding areas. Being close to parking and a roadway made it very convenient for those trips. This was much better for us than if we had stayed in the center of town where there is no parking. Regarding the road noise and the noise from the patrons visiting the neighborhood bar a couple of doors down, I would describe it as background city noise. It was very similar to what we experienced in London and Paris. You hear the cars on the road and the people talking outside. That didn't bother us but it may bother some.

If you are looking for a place that allows you to become a resident of Arles, then look no further. You'll love the home, the fun/chaos of parking your car in front AND having the Saturday open market start in front of your door. The location on the edge of the old town meant for us that we got to know the homes/cafes/stores that we would walk past every day as we would head into the heart of the town. We would see the same faces and developed a connection with a few. We found the people of Arles to be very friendly and never felt uncomfortable or threatened. Lise's place is a wonderful home to live in if only for a short time.

Loved the Apartment- Location in Arles not good

  • 2 of 5

We really loved the beautiful apartment. It was well kept, clean and our hostess was so helpful. Unfortunately we did not feel comfortable with the location on the edge of Arles as it was across the street from the highway with lots of road noise and the parking lot in front of the apartment was trashy with concern of people hanging around that appeared transient. Our hostess reminded us to keep the door locked and this confirmed our feeling that the area was not as safe as we would like.

It was easy to walk to Arles center and enjoyed the city itself. All meals at restaurants in Arles were outstanding and people very friendly.

Taxi service was a little hard too as the companies we called as listed were either too busy or out of gas. Had we been able to speak French it would have helped us though.

You can walk to the train station if not too overloaded with luggage but 20 minutes walk.

Next time I would go on Google Earth for a better look at the surroundings of a rental I was interested in.

Owner's Response: Hello Victoria, Thank you for your appreciation for home. Certainly the town homes are more exposed to noise than houses in the countryside. Then Arles is an old southern town and the population walks and life much in the street. I've never had commented on noise and insecurity and I give advice to my clients to spend a pleasant stay. cordially Lise

Very comfortable apartment

  • 5 of 5

Our 3 night stay at this apartment was an awesome experience. Fully equipped with lots of old world charm.. loved the shutters on the windows.. they are also very useful to keep out light, heat, and street noise.. I want shutters in my house at home now..lol. We loved being in this part of Arles with the little narrow streets.. close to restaurants and the markets.. Would highly recommend staying here again.. but some very good advice is.. listen to the landlord when she says use the parking lot across the bridge on market days...!! Our vehicle was towed... not fun!!

Charming French house in Arles

  • 5 of 5

We (2 senior couples) rented this location for a week in October. This charming house made an excellent base from which we made day trips in the Provence region. It had all the amenities, including a washer and dryer (we were already travelling for more than a week so this was a plus) Three WCs were very convenient. We especially loved the terrace off the top floor bedroom. It was a secluded haven where we could relax, drink a glass of French wine and chat about our day's adventures. The location was within walking distance of restaurants, many sites and the Markets (don't miss them on Wednesdays and Saturdays) Parking was a little bit of a problem (as in most European cities) but we did manage to squeeze our rental car into a spot upon returning from the fantastic Provence scenic sites and Roman ruins each day.

The delightful Owner, Lise, met us at an appointed time upon our arrival to give us the keys and provided a wealth of information about the house and Arles, as well as maps. We strongly recommend this rental unit.
