About the property

This beautifully presented second floor apartment in Edinburgh’s Old Town is perfectly situated in the heart of the city to explore all that Edinburgh has to offer. There is a communal roof area with views of Edinburgh Castle - perfect for watching the Edinburgh International Festival and Hogmanay fireworks, or for having a peaceful drink at sunset. (Please note this is not a terrace, but simply a flat roof with a fence around it. There is a foldable table and chairs in the apartment that you can use if you want to sit on the roof).

Bread Street is a fantastic location in the heart of the UK’s favourite city (Observer Travel Awards 2012). The best of Edinburgh is on your doorstep. World-class tourist attractions, cutting-edge theatres and vibrant festival venues can be found amidst a throng of Michelin-starred restaurants, artisan cafes and leafy parks just beyond your threshold. This completely modernised apartment benefits from classic Edinburgh high ceilings and large south-facing windows, as well as a brand new kitchen and shower room. Comfort and convenience are high on the agenda, with luxurious Egyptian cotton bedlinen, a well-equipped kitchen, an iPod/smart phone dock and Wi-Fi throughout.

Check-in is from 3pm on the day of arrival and check-out by 10:30am on the morning of departure. Whenever possible, we are happy to arrange an early baggage drop-off or late baggage collection to suit your travel plans.

We provide a friendly and personal service, meeting all guests on arrival to provide keys and show you around the apartment. Our hope is that the apartment will be a home away from home during your stay in Edinburgh.

About Emelie & Owen Lima

We are a South African-Swedish couple who love travelling and visiting new places (especially hot and sunny ones). In 2005 we somehow found ourselves living in not-so-sunny, but spectacularly beautiful Scotland, where the idea of combining our passion for property and travel started to materialise. In 2012 we finally took the plunge, bought our first investment flat and spent several months giving it a complete makeover. In 2015 we relocated to Cape Town, South Africa (permanently beautiful weather!), and we now have a holiday let here as well, so if you ever decide to visit Cape Town, do get in touch :-)

Call us biased, but we think this is the PERFECT location to explore Edinburgh (if in doubt, have a look at the list of what's available within 10 minutes' walking distance!).

What makes this apartment unique

We love the view from the roof and the character of the flat, with its high ceilings, bay windows and even an old-fashioned clothes pulley. The layout is also really great and works well for three or four guests, since all rooms are accessed from the hallway, so there's no walking through each other's rooms to get to the bathroom or kitchen.

We can't say enough about how fantastic your flat is! If we could give it 6 stars we would. From the great communication when we first booked to having Linda meet us, everything has been perfect. We felt right at home immediately (as did the kids) and loved the breakfast items and chocolate you left for us. The decor is fresh, cozy and fun, and the flat has everything we could have needed. The location is AMAZING!



You do an amazing job with your rental flat and have made this last part of the trip for us stress-free and relaxing because of it. Thank you again and again!

Loved, loved , loved everything about my stay in your lovely flat

The location is central to so much. The attention to our comfort was well attended to. Linda made us feel right at home. She checked in with us in the evenings to see if we needed anything. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to come back again

A hidden treasure...

What a great place to stay. Despite a rather inauspicious entrance, the flat is wonderful. Linda was waiting for us, and showed us around. Everything was spotless and convenient. We were so grateful for the treats ( a loaf of fresh bread, a pint of milk, a litre of water, nice quality salt and pepper, a package of cookies, etc.) that awaited us in the kitchen The washing machine worked perfectly, and Linda was right: despite my reservations all the hung laundry was dry in a very short time. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was great. The television seems to have a personality all its own but we managed to get it on every night. All in all an excellent place to stay. So well located. We'd be glad to return.

Optimally located between tourist and non-tourist, cozy place, with thoughtful owners.

The flat is nice size pad for using as base to explore the city or the country. The place is cozy and perfect for making it feel like coming home in the evening. The owners provide everything that is needed and particular food supplies that make staying a little bit easier so as not have to create a big list for shopping.

It was easy to get to most anywhere in the city and was just outside the tourist area, which was nice because we will spend time going to the regular neighbors places the residents go. It also allowed for easier access to the west end of the city where there is a lot of hidden things to enjoy. We were close to Haymarket station, which prevents the need for a cab. Being in a regular neighborhood, after a long day of traveling to Edinburgh it was easy to go get a couple of pizzas, wine, and sioda to settle in and watch the season finally of Dr. Who and the headliner at Glastonbury. As mentioned, the coziness of the place made this feel like being input own place.

The owners are very nice and responsive to guests, at times being proactive. I don't tangible think there is anything negative to say about the owners or their place.

Great location and clean apartment

Loved this apartment. Walking distance to the Royal Mile, New Town, and Grassmarket with restaurants. Lovecrumbs is a sweet cafe around the corner. The owner and manager are beyond accommodating and were very easy to deal with.

I'd stay there again with my family. Thanks to Emilie and Linda again for a wonderful stay.

* there are a few dodgy establishments nearby--- they seem out of place as the neighborhood felt safe and friendly-- but I do feel like those who are ultra-conservative should note that they are there

Comfortable, clean and close to restaurants

We were met at the VRBO by Linda. She showed us around explained the workings of the appliances and TV. She had provided us with fresh bread and milk as well as some tea and jams for the morning. Everything was very convenient. Grocery store directly across the street, buses just around the corner and the Grassmarket (restaurants) within a five minute walk.

We had a very comfortable stay.
