This beautifully presented second floor apartment in Edinburgh’s Old Town has a communal roof area with stunning views of Edinburgh Castle - perfect for watching the Edinburgh International Festival and Hogmanay fireworks, or for having a peaceful drink at sunset.

Bread Street is a fantastic location in the heart of the UK’s favourite city (Observer Travel Awards 2012). The best of Edinburgh is on your doorstep. World-class tourist attractions, cutting-edge theatres and vibrant festival venues can be found amidst a throng of Michelin-starred restaurants, artisan cafes and leafy parks just beyond your threshold. This completely modernised apartment benefits from classic Edinburgh high ceilings and large south-facing windows, as well as a brand new kitchen and shower room. Comfort and convenience are high on the agenda, with luxurious Egyptian cotton bedlinen, a well-equipped kitchen, an iPod/smart phone dock and Wi-Fi throughout.

Check-in is from 3pm on the day of arrival and check-out by 10:30am on the morning of departure. Whenever possible, we are happy to arrange an early baggage drop-off or late baggage collection to suit your travel plans.

We provide a friendly and personal service, meeting all guests on arrival to provide keys and show you around the apartment. Our hope is that the apartment will be a home away from home during your stay in Edinburgh.

About Emelie & Owen Lima

We are a South African-Swedish couple who love going to new places (especially hot and sunny ones). In 2005 we somehow found ourselves in not-so-sunny, but spectacularly beautiful Scotland, and we are still in Edinburgh today. Combining our passion for property and travel, we always thought it would be fun to have a holiday let, so in 2012 we bought this flat in the perfect Edinburgh location and spent several months giving it a complete makeover. We hope you like it!

What makes this apartment unique

Call us biased, but we think this is the PERFECT location to explore Edinburgh (if in doubt, have a look at the list of what's available within 10 minutes' walking distance!). We also love the roof area and the character of the flat, with its high ceilings, bay windows and even an old-fashioned clothes pulley.

The apartment was in a perfect location and very convenient. We found it comfortable and cosy with all the mod cons. Loved the sound system. Also thank you for being such friendly and accommodating hosts - the extended departure time helped us get sorted out easily enough and without any fuss. Great location, comfortable beds, had everything you need

Would recommend, walking distance to evrything, convenient parking around the corner. Be aware the terrace is not useable beyond taking a picture for the view - no issue as the grassmarket has patios around the corner. AC wasnot working while we were there but a part was on the way. Fans would have been nice for sleeping

An Amazing Flat in a Beautiful City

When we arrived in Edinburgh we were warmly welcomed by Linda to the flat. The entrance is on a busy street; however, this was not an issue. The flat was gorgeous, well kept and a wonderful respite after a long day of hiking [up to Arthur's Chair] and driving [to Stirling, Pitlochry and beyond]. It was nice having a place to come back to and feel "at home".

The location of the flat is a huge bonus. It is directly across the street from a grocery store; a block from the Grassmarket; an easy hike to the Edinburgh Castle; and a quick walk to the Royal Mile.

Once bonus is that the flat has a communal rooftop space that has an amazing view of Edinburgh Castle. It was be an excellent garden/patio space, if it was maintained as such.

Overall we would highly recommend this property!

Very nice apartment

We stayed for an extended weekend at the apartment in Old Town.

It's a very nice apartment. I can't put a finger on anything. Linda was there to greet us at the arranged time.

It's very central you can walk to everything. I would recommend it's to friends.

Wonderful ! Clean ,welcoming and central

We arrived with a very warm welcome from Linda. Beautiful bread and biscuits on arrival. The apartment was wonderful with everything you could possibly need. Comfortable bed and very adequate kitchen. Wonderful !!

The only downside was the internal state of the building getting to the second floor. Unpleasant smell and dingy. However,then you walk into a spotless, modern apartment that was very welcoming.

Very central to restaurants, hop on hop off bus and walking distance to the castle. Car park around the corner,a bit pricey but that's what you pay.

Great value and wonderful communication from Emilie and Owen. Thanks Linda for your wonderful welcome.

Would definately stay again and will recommend to our Aussie friends. Good luck with it all

Owner's Response: Virginia, thank you so much for all your praise for the apartment. As you can imagine, having seen our standards, it actually breaks my heart that the stairway is the way it is. Unfortunately, with these old apartment blocks (tenements), no one is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the public areas. We have contacted the council about this in the past, but it's not an easy problem to address. It's still very much on our radar though. In the meantime, hopefully the final destination at the top of the stairs is worth it... :-)
