Nice apartment of the 18th century, newly renovated, two-room (plus kitchen and bathroom is 52m2) spacious, quiet, located in the historic center on the most beautiful square in Caen. Comfort. .All Pedestrian area shops and activities.
Near the Abbaye aux Hommes, the Ducal Palace, Castle and museums.
Just back from 2 weeks in Caen at this excellent flat. An unusual warning to would be renters-the photos do not do it justice. This is a very comfortably furnished and stylish apartment in a very central yet quiet location. Elegance is the appropriate word for the flat and the square outside. We went in very cold weather but heating was perfect.
The owners are very nice people who looked after us well and provide lost of small extras that are not expected in this type of renting but do make difference. We were given wine, beer, and things like tea bags and coffee, tissues and bread, milk and cakes and more that 2 toilet rolls!
I would recommend a nearby Boulangerie in Rue Caponiere ( OK I admit my sister in law) for excellent products of both France and England and English spoken.
Warm and inviting. Artistically furnished. Close to everything and great historic character with modern comforts
First, thank you Misuer Jean-Francois and Madame Jocelyn for the use of your wonderful flat. The apartment was the best, and so was the homemade pastry and the bottle of wine! Thank you.
The flat is very nice. Centrally located so everything is within walking distance. The street it is on is a pedestrian district so no car noise. This is a plus if you've rented apartments before.
The flat is very clean, all utensils were in good order, and plenty of room to relax after a day of touring Normandy. Shower facilities were larger than expected and very clean. The host's also provided ample supplies of soap, toilet paper, garbage bags, etc.
Parking is nearby and reasonable for France.
Jean-Francois and Jocelyn make this a 5 star. Their attention to your comfort and willingness to help with any issue or problem makes travel to this country so much easier. We can't say enough about how pleasant they made our trip. If you travel to Normandy, you simply must stay here. We would certainly stay here again.
Thank you again for your hospitality.
What a wonderful place to stay. Jean-Francois & his wife are wonderful hosts, everything you need for breakfast & more, place was very clean & tidy & charming.
Close to shops, restaurants, buses, tram, train & information centre to book any tours. Caen is a lovely little town.
I would highly recommend this accomodation
The apartment was amazing. The hosts were amazing. The location was amazing. We cannot say enough positive things about our experience at this charming, well equipped apartment. We should have spent longer in Normandie, but we will return!
We could not have chosen a better location or apartment for our stay in Normandy earlier this month. My wife and I, along with our daughters (a teen and pre-teen) stayed in the 18th Century flat owned by Jocelyn and Jean- Francois.
It was a small and cozy apartment that served our purpose wonderfully. While booking the accommodation, I inquired if the sofa sleeper would be adequate for both the girls. They responded by promising to place an additional mattress, which was there when we reached.
Upon arrival at the Caen train station, we rented a car and promptly got lost. It took us quite a while to get to the flat, where Jocelyn was waiting patiently for us. We were greeted by home-baked muffins and a bottle of wine. The kitchen was also adequately stocked with bread, butter, jams, a few eggs, milk.....
The location was just perfect. We drove all over Caen, the neighboring towns/villages and of course the Alied Landing Beaches over the next 3 days. We reached on a Thursday afternoon and Friday morning we saw a complete street market come up in the square......farmers market, souvenirs, street food, flea market and even a fish market. We spent a couple hours wandering in and out of various stalls. There are many cafes & restaurants nearby and one could easily spend a couple of days exploring all of them. The first night we were there, we got hungry around midnight and were surprised to see many restaurants open. My favorite was Cafe Latin.
At the end of our stay, Jocelyn saw how enamored we were with the old building and its charm, that she gave us a tour of her home upstairs.
You bet we will be back again; to explore more of the charm of French countryside.
