About the property

Built In This Secluded Spot, To Help Guard Against Smuggling And Invasion

Wake in comfort to the sound of the sea, explore the misty brooding Romney Marsh, then warm up in the many atmospheric pubs with intriguing histories, resident ghouls, roaring fireplaces, cracking ales and tasty pub grub, walk along our pebbled beach, look out across the shimmering blue sea and you’ll feel like you’ve discovered another world..

Stay at Coastguard's Beach House and discover a landscape full of myth’s and legends, surrounded by the haunting loneliness of Romney Mash. Built in this secluded spot, to help guard against smuggling and invasion, this beautiful renovated coastguard cottage is the perfect location for a holiday away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Here at Coastguards Beach House, you are surrounded by views in every direction - marshland designated an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) to one side and the sea to the other. This location is the perfect getaway with only your close neighbours for company.

Coastguards Beach House is a stunning luxury, self catering holiday cottage where you can happily make lovely meals for your family and friends, but it's also within easy reach of local amenities including shops and many excellent pubs and restaurants for your eating out, you are on holiday after all!

Coastguards Beach House has a contemporary and sociable open plan layout downstairs, ideal for enjoying the company of your holiday group, this cottage has all of the modern comforts you need, within a modified traditional coastguards cottage.

As soon as you step inside you’ll notice the huge amount of care and attention that has been given in the renovation from its former 1875 life as a Coastguards property to a cosy holiday cottage with log burner, comfortable lounge and modern kitchen – the perfect place for some well-earned R&R away from the monotonous grind of everyday life!

The newly equipped open plan layout kitchen, dining room and lounge in Coastguards Beach House has everything you’ll need. Nespresso Coffee Machine, breakfast bar and farm house style dining table where you can relax and plan the day a head over breakfast - why not visit Rye and buy locally caught seafood fresh from the boat or some Romney marsh lamb from the local butchers? Beside The Sea Holidays will be more than happy to recommend our favourites!

From the kitchen area you can see into the comfortable lounge area, with log burning stove that is the centre piece of this lovely space where you can enjoy the company of your friends and family, or relax and enjoy your own company with a good book or well deserved glass of wine.

Upstairs you’ll find a beautiful, modern, family bathroom and two bedrooms.

The large, comfortable master bedroom has a double bed with views of the sea, coastal garden and adjoining coastguard cottages.

The second bedroom has two 3ft beds and a single fold away bed with unspoilt views over the sheep studded marsh where the local smugglers plied their trade in years gone by, this room also benefits from an en suite shower room.

The cottage has a fully enclosed south-facing and quiet garden, the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring one of the many historical sites or taking a hike along one of the areas many a coastal path or marshland walks.

Coastguards Beach House is the perfect holiday cottage to relax and unwind in and do as much or as little as you want and only the crackle of the fire and the crash of the waves to disturb you!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We booked a last minute, much needed break through Beside the sea holidays and had a delightful week at Coastguards Beach House at Jury’s Gap. The cottage was delightfully furnished and decorated – and very comfortable. It was also spotlessly clean. The wood burning stove was a great advantage the first evening as we arrived in very cold and windy weather.

We were initially concerned about the proximity of the firing range and some construction work being carried out next to the cottages by the environment agency but that didn’t really affect our enjoyment or detract from the wonderful walks along an almost deserted beach. Our drive to Dungeness was a revelation and we much enjoyed our trips to Rye, Winchelsea – and a lovely lunch at Chapel Down. Salts Farm Shop was also a great find. The location and the cottage itself made for a very enjoyable break.

Great little Seaside get away!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to stay right beside the sea for a short break over half-term and this cottage delivered!

The welcome book (on-line) is really clear about how to get in and what to do, etc. so on arrival we turned up, got the key and in we went, to be greeted by a beautiful loaf of lemon cake (sooo good!) and a lovely bottle of Prosecco.

The cottage is traditional in appearance and had nice pictures, etc. on the walls. The heating system is a Nest and is so simple to use if we were cold. We didn't use the log burner as wasn't really cold enough but can imagine the heat it pumps out when using it!

All facilities you need are there, from great WiFi, Coffee Manchine and even Washing Machine.

It is so close to the beach, you can hear the waves crashing on the rocks at high tide. Walks on the beach and the sea defences were brilliant at blowing the cobwebs away either early in the morning, during the day or late at night in the dark!

The local area, especially Rye, is lovely and well worth a visit. Day trip to Dover Castle and Canterbury were no problems from here.

Highly recommend and should we choose to visit this part of the world again, we will look to stay here!

Beautiful comfortable cottage very nicely decorated and in a very quiet but convenient loaction

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Coastguards Beach House, the house is decorated very nicely and feels very homely, everything was very clean and the kitchen was equipped very well, and plenty of fresh clean towels etc. It was situated very well with the beach only a short walk away, in a quiet and peaceful location. Overall a very enjoyable relaxing week in this part of the country.

Very spacious and well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a couple of nights for my dads birthday and had a lovely time. It's was very cold so the log fire was loved by all the family.

Went to the local pub, the owl who were very friendly and accommodating.

Would definitely return

Bijzondere omgeving

  • 3 of 5
