About George & Karen Day

We have lived in North Berwick for over 50 years. We went to school here, married & brought up our family in the town.

George & Karen Day purchased this house in 1970

Why George & Karen Day chose North Berwick

This was my family home. When my parents passed away we decided to keep the house, do some renovations and let others have the fun of living in the area. We still live in the town as there is nowhere else we would want to live.

What makes this house unique

The main benefits are the proximity to all amenities. Everyone that visits North Berwick ,loves it. We have several islands offshore which can be visited. The beaches are world class, you can walk along the shore bird watching for at least 10 miles. There are castles, mills, old towns and harbours.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks so much for the amazing apartment. The place was perfect and at the center of everything we needed. We will definitely come back and we would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Scotland

cozy stay in the centre of town

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the house during the Easter holidays with our teenage daughter and retired parents. The place is an ideal base for exploring North Berwick and surrounding area, everyone can just wander off and do their own thing! It is very equipped and has a nice homely feel. The owner was very responsive and helpful.

Amazing! This quaint little village was just perfect.

Location, location, location! Perfect spot to see everything and close enough walk to the train station that we didn’t even rent a car. House was great, amenities were great, host was great! Definitely recommend to others!

A Treat in the Centre of North Berwick

  • 5 of 5

If you would like to stay in the heart of historical North Berwick, this is the place. It is located on charming High Street, and I mention this because one should visit the local shops to gather ideas and items for special meals before you visit the supermarkets.

It is a great place to stay while exploring the town and East Lothian, and we enjoyed returning to find ample parking directly behind the house. It is spacious and well equipped, and you should have a thoroughly enjoyable stay, as we did.

Now if only George will reveal the story behind the excellent copyright aerial photos of the coast and its islands that are hanging on the walls!

Thank you George and Karen,

Dave and Sally

Well maintained and convenient

  • 4 of 5

The property was clean, tidy and well looked after. The bedrooms were comfortable and there was plenty of room. Being on the high street, the property is very convenient and is also within walking distance of the train station. We would recommend to others.

Everything fine. Nicely fitted out. High quality furniture and appliances. Had difficulty with the Internet, which cut in and out. Not sure what the issue was.

Belhaven Brewery Visitors Centre is located approximately 1.5km west of the centre of Dunbar in East Lothian. It was founded in 1719 and remains the oldest surviving independent brewery in Scotland and one of the oldest in Britain. It is likely that brewing was originally carried out by Benedictine Monks on the land around 'Bele' (now Belhaven) granted to them by King David I (c. 1080 - 1153).

Glenkinchie Distillery, Scotland's only lowland malt whisky distillery is at Pencaitland.

There are three exceptional golf courses on and around Gullane Hill, with marvellous views across the Firth of Forth and the East Lothian countryside .Luffness is a challenging course with stunning greens located on the Western edge of Gullane.

Archerfield Golf Links comprises two fairly new golf courses in the Archerfield Estate. Fidra Course lies between the 8th hole at Muirfield and the 9th hole at North Berwick, and although only opened for play in 2004 the Fidra blends very well into the group of premium golfing destinations in this corner of East Lothian. Dirleton also offers a first class golfing experience and the estate also houses an enormous clubhouse constructed in a colonial style. North Berwick West is within walking distance of the apartment. The West course at North Berwick, which was founded in 1832 is famous across the world as a traditional links course with stunning sea views across to Craigleith Island and the Bass Rock.
