Photos and Description of this holiday cabin in Fort William - Heron Bay Holidays, Heron Bay

Lochside Solid Log Lodge With Views To The Hills Of Ardgour

Heron Bay lodges are substantial solid log lodge situated on the shores of Loch Linnhe, 4 miles south of Fort William.

On a family croft bordered by the Kiachnish River, it enjoys arguably the best view in Lochaber with unrestricted views across the Loch through Glen Scaddle to the hills of Ardgour.

The lodge is luxurious in size and appointment, centrally heated with 2 super king size double/twin bedrooms, both en suite with bath and power shower, and walk in wardrobes. The living space is a large open plan dining lounge and kitchen area. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher.

Both suites and lounge have separate patio door access to a large deck area with patio furniture and BBQ.

There is a drying room with a washing machine and a clothesline to the rear of the property.

Ample parking space for 2 cars and shore access.

About Sharyn Morgan

The croft on which the holiday property has been built has been in my family for over 300 years, when the clearances took place from Ardgour.

Sharyn Morgan purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Sharyn Morgan chose Scottish Highlands & Islands

This lodge has been purpose built for holiday lets and so has everything you will need for your holiday.

What makes this cabin unique

The view from the lounge and bedrooms are, I think, the best in Fort William, and many of our guests agree.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Everything about the lodge was spot on the cosy-ness, the fire (especially, which you could probably tell by there being no wood left), tv, kitchen essentials.

Thank you and hope to return in a warmer climate.

Stunning Cottage with Amazing Views of Loch Linnhe

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful cottage with stunning views of Loch Linnhe. Sharyn was a very easy host to deal with and check-in and check-out was very simple.

Everything you need is provided for your stay and the kitchen is very well equipped for eating meals in the cottage. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the showers were both pure luxury. We greatly enjoyed our stay (and the daily visit by the local stag who seemed to like to pose for photos) and would highly recommend the cottages to anyone planning on visiting the Fort William area. It is very conveniently located to many area including Glencoe and Ben Nevis, as well as many Harry Potter filming locations (if you are a fan).

Beautiful lodges - stunning views of Loch Linnhe!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and a group of friends recently rented both lodges for a long weekend as we wanted to climb Ben Nevis (which the location is perfect for). The description of the lodges on the website is very accurate and if anything underplays how beautiful and well-equipped they really are.

Sharyn, the owner of the lodges has thought of everything. I loved the fact that there were hairdryers, fans and dressing tables in both rooms as well as plenty of hanging space and the most incredible showers in the world!!

We loved the fire too and even though the lodges are really well insulated, we had to light the fire on one evening just to try it out ;-)

Slight warning is that there are smoke alarms in the cabins which definitely work and we managed to set them off twice while making bacon sandwiches in the morning but if anything this was a good way to wake up our lazier friends who were still dozing at 10am and hopefully we didn't bother anyone else as the lodges are quite remote!

Sharyn, went above and beyond for us. She was always helpful and quick to respond to any emails in relation to our booking.

I would 100% recommend this property to any friends or relatives for both winter and summer holidays and hope to return again soon!

Wonderful holiday rental in ideal setting

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful rental in an ideal highland setting right on the shores of Loch Linnhe with magnificent views of mountains and loch in all directions. Roomy accommodation and facilities very clean and well maintained. Perfect for our 4 day stay in the Highlands. Will recommend to friends and family. Very good value for money. Would like to return.

We stayed at Heron Bay lodge for two nights whilst enjoying the last of the snow.

The lodge was fantastic, both inside and out were of an excellent standard, spacious, warm and cosy! Could not fault our stay, it was very easy to find and before our arrival Sharyn was extremely helpful and prompt at returning any of my queries via email.

Would deffinately stay again!

Tranquil and peaceful location with superb views..

  • 4 of 5

Stayed for three nights, very picturesque setting at this time of year within easy reach of Fort William and Ben Nevis for skiing/snowboarding. Enjoyed the cable car ride!..... The lodge was cosy and well equiped and the log fire was bliss, there was four of us and felt plenty room.. ..plenty local shops and pubs. Had a nice meal in the Gruel and Grog. Indian was recommended or West End hotel but didn't have time to sample. Definitely recommend for a short break any time of year.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the lodge. The two nights we spent were relaxing and the view was incredible. Fabulous showers and overall very comfortable . We will visit again and spend some more time around the hauntingly beautiful glenfinnan to mallaig area.

Fort William is the Outdoor Capital of the UK, situated in Lochaber. There are many things to see and do including skiing, hill walking, cruising, mountain biking, fishing, an informative museum, great restaurants and live music in the bars. Gorgeous beaches at Arisaig just an hours drive away. Take the steam train to Mallaig in the summer months, or a cruise on Loch Linnhe to see the seals. There is a gondola taking you to the top of Aonach Mhor for magnificent views. Glenfinnan is 20 minutes away where the Bonnie Prince Charles monument stands at the head of Loch Sheil. where you can take a wildlife cruise and see Golden Eagles.

The world championship downhill mountain biking event is held at Lenachan every June, and the 6 day trials for trial bikes in May.

Glencoe is 30 minutes away for wonderful scenery and hillwalking. The National Trust for Scotland Glencoe gives an informative history of the geology of the area, as well as some history of the area. There is also a lovely museum in Glencoe and a nice walk around the Lochan.

Glen Nevis is a lovely place to walk and relax, and Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK is a challenging walk for those guests who are up for it.
