About Sharyn Morgan

The croft on which the holiday property has been built has been in my family for over 300 years, when the clearances took place from Ardgour.

Sharyn Morgan purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Sharyn Morgan chose Fort William

This lodge has been purpose built for holiday lets and so has everything you will need for your holiday.

What makes this cabin unique

The view from the lounge and bedrooms are, I think, the best in Fort William, and many of our guests agree.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Everything about the lodge was spot on the cosy-ness, the fire (especially, which you could probably tell by there being no wood left), tv, kitchen essentials.

Thank you and hope to return in a warmer climate.

Wonderful family retreat for Highlands holiday.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Otter Banks cottage. The house was cozy and plenty of room for our family of four. Sharyn was very helpful in getting us settled and answered all of my questions prior to arrival. We loved the location. Close to Glencoe and Fort Williams. So many things to do in the area. Our favorite part was walking down to the loch and enjoying the beautiful view. We were extremely lucky to see some spectacular sunsets during our stay. Definitely recommend this cottage and would stay there again.

Amazing property, great owners, 5 stars!

  • 5 of 5

We drove from Ehdinbruh to Ft. William, a few hours spectacular driving. On the lach along the way to town is this property, hidden away like the gem it is. The weather was wretched every day, with moments of sunlight between the rain, and it did not matter at all! Between the charm of town and the striking countryside (one day trip up to Lach Ness with many pit stops for Scotish games and other attractions), this home away from home fit our bill to a T. There is a lovely woodstove (wood provided) for warming up after hikes, full kitchen, two en suite bedrooms with wonderfully comfortable beds, a comfortable main room with big TV and comfy couch, plus a dining table off to the side. There is a full lach-facing deck that gives amazing views. Plenty of room for our foursome. There were a hundred little details that made our stay more comfortable than London or Oxford, both considerably more expensive. The only time we had any issue (our own dumb fault for not knowing how locks work in UK!) the owner was generous and kind. And such a great Scots accent! We would stay here again any time!

Be warned, this rental is best for people with personal transportation. It is about 10-12min drive from Ft William (shops, groceries, etc) on the main road.

Fort William is the Outdoor Capital of the UK, situated in Lochaber. There are many things to see and do including skiing, hill walking, cruising, mountain biking, fishing, an informative museum, great restaurants and live music in the bars. Gorgeous beaches at Arisaig just an hours drive away. Take the steam train to Mallaig in the summer months, or a cruise on Loch Linnhe to see the seals. There is a gondola taking you to the top of Aonach Mhor for magnificent views. Glenfinnan is 20 minutes away where the Bonnie Prince Charles monument stands at the head of Loch Sheil. where you can take a wildlife cruise and see Golden Eagles.

The world championship downhill mountain biking event is held at Lenachan every June, and the 6 day trials for trial bikes in May.

Glencoe is 30 minutes away for wonderful scenery and hillwalking. The National Trust for Scotland Glencoe gives an informative history of the geology of the area, as well as some history of the area. There is also a lovely museum in Glencoe and a nice walk around the Lochan.

Glen Nevis is a lovely place to walk and relax, and Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK is a challenging walk for those guests who are up for it.
