The "Heavenly Haven" you want quiet, solitude, and comfort, here it is.

Bedrooms 1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

The "Heavenly Haven" located on the edge of the Bay of Quinte, has the best of what mother nature can provide. The scent of the mature red (Junipers) and white cedar lingers in the air, while you gaze out from the open deck, or the screened in porch, at the water and magnificent sunsets. You can laze away the day reading your favourite book while the Canada Geese fly overhead or mother Swan swims by with her young in tow close to the shore. Watch the Osprey and Blue Heron stalking fish from their perch on the rocks, or flying by on their nightly quest for a snack. Many other creatures call the area home, mink, rabbits, foxes, raccoon and deer may be sighted in the surrounding cedar forest. They all keep their distance but are inquisitive creatures; they were here first. Your days may be filled with short journey's on the local county roads often used by cyclists , to the local wineries, art galleries, antique shops and restaurants. Three Dog Winery is just down the road and up the hill, 5 minutes away. You will find an Ontario Parks day pass for your use, to enjoy the wonderful sand beaches of the local Sandbanks only 20 minutes away. Your evenings can be spent lounging on the screened veranda at the water's edge listening to the waves gently lapping at the shore while you drift to sleep or enjoying a fire in the chimnea under the star filled sky. This cozy cottage has been renovated throughout, this spring; all rooms painted, new flooring, new 3 piece bath, new hot water heater, windows, etc. The sleeping arrangements are a spacious bedroom and a pull out sofa (both are queen size). The kitchen is fully equipped with all of the dishes, pots/pans, cutlery, fridge/freezer, microwave oven, toaster oven, kettle, for those who love to cook. The cottage is equipped with satellite TV, drinking water dispenser (free), stereo, and a desk for those who are so inclined.

About The Owner

I was born and raised in Picton , my partner Shell-lee a short distance farther east in the province. After many years in BC I wanted to return to the County so I bought our 10 acre property. Our house is on the southern edge of the property near the road. Shell-Lee works in the area; it is just the 2 of us and the wild life around the property. Shell-Lee will be your host as I grew up on the water and allowed the seafaring life to take a hold of me at young age and as of yet it has not given up its grip, I make sure I am home for either July or August to lend Shell-Lee a helping hand, and while I am away the neighbours help out.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2016

Why The Owner chose Prince Edward

We have owned the neighbouring 10 acres since 1999. The cottage is nestled in the NE corner of the 10 acres, our house in the SW corner. We acquired the cottage last year to make the 10 acre block complete. Our friends often comment favourably on the park like setting, only a 5 minute walk from our house. We enjoy most all the elements mother nature has provided on this property, wild animals and wild flowers, winter weather not so much. It is just so quiet at the waters edge. The county is my home. My mother said you better get a piece of the county before it is too late, they are not making anymore of it, so I did. The cottage was were my mother took me as a baby to see my US relatives who owned the cottage until last year. I looked forward to the annual visit of my relatives so I could go swimming and fishing with my cousins as we grew older. My extended family would gather at the cottage every year - it was the place where they all wanted to be.

What makes this cottage unique

being able to sit by the water or under the tree's without anyone bothering you, no neighbouring cottages on either side or on the opposite shore , private entrance, superb sunset viewing, very very quiet.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We so enjoyed our time in your peaceful cottage! The sound of the water - from fast waves to gentle lapping - sitting out back and staring across at Ursa Major in the clear night sky - everything was lovely. Thanks for the map and the tip to take the back roads! We loved the drive on tiny roads to Sandbanks every single day! Thanks for everything!

A beautiful, peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is an outstanding property. We came to the County looking for quiet and beauty, and we couldn't have asked for a better place. This house is beautifully set up, with everything we could think of, from maps to guides to a well-stocked kitchen, and much more. We spent hours sitting outside, or on the incredible screen-in porch watching the water and the sunsets, and relaxing.

It's also situated in a lovely spot, far enough away to feel secluded, but just a short drive to any convenience you want. We had beach days and farm stand days, and country road days, and it was perfect. Our hosts were incredibly helpful, kind, attentive and thoughtful. We can't recommend this place highly enough. We will be back.

My husband and me totally fell in love with this place. It was very private and so beautiful sitting on the water. The place was extremely clean and had everything we needed. Thank you Shell-Lee for how easy it was to cook from the kitchen, it had everything. The screened in porch was our sanctuary having coffee in the morning and eating our meals out there(no bugs).

Looking forward to going back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words Barb. My sister and I did put a lot of thought into the kitchen because I realize how disappointing it is when you have to purchase items for a rental unit in order to prepare meals. I am also pleased that you appreciated the privacy and seclusion - it is hard to find a single cottage on a large waterfront lot in the County. It was a pleasure having you at Heavenly Haven. Cheers, Shell-Lee

Heavenly Haven is a Perfect Name

  • 5 of 5

Dear Shell-Lee and Les,

Thank you for a relaxing and enjoyable stay at your lovely cottage. Beautiful inside and out, and there really was not a thing lacking. The screened porch is priceless! It was a shame about the cordoned-off shoreline, but of course that couldn't be helped. You were great hosts, the setting was thoroughly peaceful and relaxing, and we will definitely book again next time we come down to the county. Till then,

Cheers and warm wishes,

Judy, Terry and Romeo

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words about Heavenly Haven. We did put a great deal of thought into our purchases for the cottage and made every effort to ensure our guests would not find anything lacking. Personally I find it frustrating when I rent anything with a kitchen and you only get the bare minimum and you end up purchasing a number of items to make it user friendly. As for the shoreline, it is unfortunate that the extremely high water and flooding in the Bay of Quinte resulted in a good deal of erosion and until the safety of the shoreline is fully assessed we prefer to keep our guests safe. Hopefully things will be back to normal next year and the dock will be down and the shoreline safe. Thanks for understanding. Shell-Lee

Wonderful view, quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It is newly renovated and Les and Shell-Lee have provided everything you would need to relax and make meals.

The view from the screened in deck and out door deck of the Bay of Quinte is wonderful especially at sunset.

It's a short drive to the towns of Picton and Bloomfield. Both towns have small wineries, local craft shops and artist's galleries. The restaurants are also very good..

Les and. Shell-Lee are excellent hosts and they helped make my special birthday

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, fully equipped cottage. We loved the view and the option of sitting out back in the sun on the deck or in the shade in the screened in porch, both overlooking the bay. Shell-Lee was very accommodating and made us feel welcome. The location was great for short drives to golf, wineries and restaurants in various locations. We hope to return soon and thank Shell-Lee and Les for everything!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind word Arlene and Jeff. It was lovely meeting you and the way you left the cottage was unbelievable. I am so happy you enjoyed the peace and quiet, the kingfishers, and of course the "swan swim by" - they are lovely. The gift of wine was unnecessary but much appreciated. Hopefully we will see you next year and get to play a round of golf. Cheers, Shell-Lee
