My brother and I stayed here a week while touring the Loire region. What a great little house this is! But a bit unconventional. There are two floors, the main floor and a lower floor partially under ground. The bathroom is in the basement and is accessed through the second bedroom in the basement. If you can live with that for those inevitable late night trips, then you can get along with this house. (There is also a low arch that you will have to bend your head to go under – see photos. If you make the trip in the dark, don’t forget. The surface your head will connect with is quite hard!) The kitchen is adequate for simple meals. The wifi reaches out to the patio, a great place to catch up on your wine sipping. It is somewhat hard to believe that the tiny street outside is two-way, but you will see the occasional car pass in either direction. The location is good, but you want to avoid driving through Tours during the morning rush (as my GPS wanted us to do each morning). My brother and I were able to tour two chateaux a day – and we didn’t run out of things to see during a one week visit. I have nothing but positive things to say about my stay at La Petite Maison. I would certainly consider returning. (I gave the place 4 stars instead of 5 just because I like to reserve a perfect score for uniquely perfect rentals.)
We used this nice house for our base while making day trips to Chambord, Amboise, Chenonceau, and at Corrine's suggestion Langerais. The town of Saint-Emilion and the rest of the Loire Valley were wonderful as well. Especially liked the radio station that the living room radio was set to. Take the time to listen to Corrine & Xavier's vocals on the CD in the jacket of the children's book that Xavier wrote. Talented couple. They, and their daughter, were quite helpful. Wish we had more time to spend with them. We're happy we made that choice and not a place in the city of Tours where we had originally planned. As previously stated, car is a must.
Corrine and Xavier are outstanding hosts. My husband and I stayed at this beautiful little house, with everything you need. Very ,Very comfortable, clean and just perfect. Corrine and Xavier are a great help and very good hosts. Corrine even dried and folded my cloths when we had a small dryer problem. The kitchen was wonderful and the fireplaces great. I wish we had stayed longer so I could savor the petite back yard and weber grill. You do need a car, but if you jus want to stay in the village there is restaurants and groceries in the village. We traveled in France an additional two months after our stay , but i wish I had stayed in the area longer to enjoy this little piece of Loire Valley heaven. Thanks again to our hosts Corrine and Xavier.
