Their concept is to share their oasis with other families and people who appreciate exclusivity, privacy and first row locations, good books, good food, good wine, gourmet and wine tours, culture tourism, swimming, hiking and excitement through sports!
Tanja Gutenmorgen purchased this villa in 1900
Viganj sits on the azure clear Adriatic sea, 120 km north from the city of Dubrovnik (where the nearest airport is), faces the 'mini Dubrovnik' medieval little town of Korcula, which is easy to reach by the water taxi that leaves just 200m by foot from the Villa.
Viganj is famous for its windsurfing and kite surfing scene, with plenty of opportunity to learn or improve your skills with the various companies that offer tuition.
On the other hand if you like to enjoy more sedate forms of relaxation, the region is famous for its vineyards with tasting tours with wonderful gastronomic surprises!

- no need for a car
- near cultural attractions

- fully serviced (all kind of additional services can be arranged in order for you to really feel the local way of life)

It's good to let the guests know, that you do not necessarily need a car, since 1) quite low cost to have a taxi from Dubrovnik, 2) food store close, 3) some restaurants close, 4) boat taxi option to visit Korcula.
Don't know whether having appropriate wood available for barbecue would be an option.
As there are bikes available, why not also couple of sup-boards.
It exactly matched the vacation we needed (on the sea, comfortable, everything nearby, no car, beautiful environment, nice people and great food). We felt welcomed and everyone we met in Croatia seemed happy to share a bit of their country/culture with us.
The villa is really beautiful; I would only remove TV’s in the rooms since they were unnecessary & spoiled the integrity of the decoration. And I suggest you talk with the host and let her know that there is no need to press the guests on the way out 1-2 hours prior to departure time.
Croatia/Adriatic is the spot for vacation in Europe; it combines great weather, warm sea, delicious food, great people and rich history.
and Croatia is beautiful country with friendly and helpful locals. We enjoyed in great views from our Villa. I loved the fact that villa had a ground floor bedroom for my mother and that all bedrooms had en-suite bathrooms.
I missed larger coffee mugs, instructions for the TV and a microwave but I'm being really really picky.
Apart from the confusion as to our expected arrival, our host Kate looked after us really well.
The location of the villa was superb and the booking process was easy and uncomplicated. Price performance and the organization of Adriatic Pearls were perfect (thumbs up for sending us the list of best restaurants in Viganj and Korcula) and you really get what you expect and see on the pictures.
We enjoyed in a great company, delicious local food (great restaurant in the vicinity of the villa) and sunny weather. Viganj is a good starting point for trips to Korcula, Loviste and Orebic.
The only thing I missed was mixer and better lightening in the living room and kitchen. It would also be great if you add a few more channels on the TV, since the most of them were Arabic, which was a little bit weird.
Our trip to Croatia was a nice adventure to a totally different culture. The weather, the views, the relaxed atmosphere, the sense of peace in the village was amazing. We enjoyed learning about the history of Croatia and the surrounding countries. I have never been to a more beautiful place, and we enjoyed the most perfect weather imaginable. We were expecting a clothes dryer in the villa, but since the weather was so nice, it was no problem to hang the clothes outside.
I believe we were the only Americans there and it was nice to get the feel of a totally different culture. It was great to have the bikes and all the umbrellas and chairs for the multiple seating areas. We took advantage of all the outdoor spaces. The garden was lovely and the plants looked very well cared for. Love the lavender!!
We thought transportation might be a problem, but we had an offer of a free ride to Orebic from the people at the water sports area, took the public bus one time, and enjoyed the ferry rides from Ploce and across to Korcula.
Villa Nelly is a beach front villa only 5m from the sea. You just need to cross the little local road to reach the beautiful pebble beach and refresh yourself in a turquoise clear water - or start surfing directly at the doorsteps of the villa!
Just a short walk away (5 minutes) is a main beach named Punta, from where you can launch your kite, enjoy the beach, drink a cocktail at the beach bar or just listen to a relaxing chill-out music.
There are other little beaches all along the waterfront, so you won't see crowded beaches in Viganj.
The centre of Viganj village is a 1 min. walk from Villa Nelly, where you can find ATM and a little supermarket.
Orebic town, where the doctors are is a 15 min. drive. Korcula Island is a 15 min. ferry ride from Viganj. Korcula Island has a charming medieval Venetian town, also named »little Dubrovnik« because of the resemblance of the Dubrovnik town, one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Europe - Croatia. It is a must see once in Viganj!
Loviste village in a beautiful quiet bay is a 15 min drive over Mount Iliya from Viganj and there you can find one of the finest local restaurants »Barca« (sorry guys, the owner is not a Barca fan, the resemblance is only a coincidence, famous for its delicious sea specialties and home grown eco-vegetables!
There are many vineyards along the Peljesac Peninsula and the area also offers sailing, mountain walking, climbing to the Mountain St. Iliya, biking, kite-surfing, windsurfing and fishing. The protected waters (a pretty wide channel between Peninsula and Korcula island) are very popular for sailing.
You can hike (3-4 h walk) to the top of Mount Saint Iliya (961m) that provides wonderful views across the Peninsula and Korcula Island – but do take your trekking shoes with you!
