The true Jewel of South Padre Island! Stunning beach to bay views (Sunrise to Sunset) surround you from every room of Dahktari where a collection of exquisite eclectic antique chandeliers, fixtures, antique doors and accessories comes together with unique architectural elements to create the ultimate fantasy beach retreat. 15 foot ceilings in the living area & master bedroom, wood like floors, granite counter tops and an open loft are just a few of the unique elements.

Incorporating an industrial & rustic interior for a truly original and luxurious look, Penthouse Dahktari is in a class of its own. You will enjoy spectacular views from your 3 10th floor balcony's.

This unit has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.Totaling 1800 square feet, the floor plan is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath, plus a kids sleeping loft. The space can accommodate up to 12 people.

The condo complex is truly beach front (within 50 yards) and boasts one of the largest heated pools on the island. There are 3 charcoal grilling areas with picnic tables, they are available at a first come first serve basis. The penthouse floor has only 3 condos and the complex offers 24 hour security. The complex is located towards the southern end of the island and most local shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance.

Master Bedroom:

A king size sleep number bed provides for a luxurious, restful sleep. Sit on your private balcony for a spectacular view of South Padre Island. Your private bathroom has both a deep soaking tub and 2 person shower.

2 Guest Bedrooms: 1 w/ a king size sleep number bed, 1 w/ a queen sleep number bed.

One has a balcony and the other is a corner room with windows on two sides. Both have spectacular views of the island.

Children’s loft: The loft is set up with kids in mind. They have their own TV. two twin beds, and 2 full sized beds make for a slumber party atmosphere. An ideal getaway regardless of the weather. Your kids will love this space! The 3rd bath is also up here... be careful.. only 5' 9" head room.. :)

Balconies: Take in the spectacular views of South Padre from three separate balconies. Enjoy sunrise and sunset views & the fireworks during the summer.

I went to Spring Break in 1988 fell in love with the Island. Returned in 2003 for a fall vacation. On a nice day decided to stop in an open house just for something to do. The realtor showed us a few pictures of the Penthouse. We had no plans of ever buying a vacation home. The Penthouse was just so unique we had to have it. Besides the incredible views, the Penthouse has a great layout. Over the years we have updated the interior, but have kept & added our own unique elements for a truly one of a kind atmosphere.

What makes this condo unique

The best views on the island from our 3 balconies. Have a cup of coffee & watch the Sunrise, or have cocktails on the Master balcony for Sunset.

Just got home last night from a fabulous 2 week stay at the Dhaktari penthouse. We hated to leave, the location is wonderful, views to die for, and the weather was great! There were 11 of us in total, from 2 to 52. We hope to go back next year and stay longer. We had no idea what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised. Excellent value for a beachfront vacation.

Wonderful Family Thanksgiving

Perfect place for our family gathering. Six adults and two children had plenty of room and the views from the three balconies were amazing. The island weather was sunny and warm during the day and jacket weather at night. Even if it would have rained the whole time, the penthouse would have been the place to stay out of the weather and still enjoy our long weekend. We will definitely consider renting for our next visit.

Great location, beautiful view, a few problems

Our stay was enjoyable, though we likely won’t return.

Pros:

*Sleep Number mattresses! The beds were very comfortable, and the bedrooms were well equipped with extra linens and pillows.

*the location is great and the beach is wide and clean

*the condo is huge and comfortable for large groups, decor is pretty. The loft was perfect for kids, and the bedrooms have lots of closet and storage space. The master bedroom and bath is beautiful and comfortable.

*the condo is well equipped with beach toys, cutlery, everything you need to cook

*the washer and dryer were really convenient with a high capacity

*the balconies afford beautiful views of the beach and bay. We enjoyed sitting with our coffee or cocktail.

*the staff in the building are really nice and helpful. The pool and grounds of the building are really clean and well-kept. Plenty of parking space with security gates.

Cons:

*there was horrible roach infestation when we arrived. We called to complain and the condo was sprayed the very next day, which helped a lot. We still had to clean everything we took out of the drawers and cupboards, and still saw some small roaches in the morning and evening. For the amount we spent per night, it seemed like a huge inconvenience and pretty gross. This was the deal-breaker for us regarding a return trip.

*there is no real boardwalk to the beach. They’ve laid down mats across the footpath, or you can go through the parking lot and out the automatic gate to access the public walkway. Dragging coolers or wagons is a pain.

*the AC in the large master bedroom smells very strongly of mildew. Perhaps this gets better as the season continues and the AC is used more frequently.

*the drains are slow, and the water pressure is terrible. That probably has a lot to do with being on the top floor of an older building.

Owner's Response: I'm so sorry you had problems! The sticking bathroom door has been fixed. The Building manager is making sure the Pest Control is taken care of. The Spa was not working for a couple of days but has been fixed. The king & queen beds are sleep number beds and you can adjust them firmer or softer. If you ever have a problem please let us know right away so we can fix the issue while you are there. I'm glad you enjoyed our great view. Thanks Bill

Wonderful location. Great views

While the building is a bit dated, you can't beat the view from this penthouse. Five lovely ladies enjoyed every minute of our beach vacation. First time SPI visit for us and we hope to be back!!

Welcome to South Padre Island! Beautiful beaches, warm gulf waters, fishing, boating, bird watching, shopping and a diversity of year-round activities. Drive Dune Buggies or 4x4's on the Beach north of the city. South Padre Island is one of the most fantastic vacation destinations in the world. Catamaran dinner cruises, Dolphin watch tours, Kite boarding, Jet ski, & Parasailing are a few popular activities. Fishing is great on the bay or deep sea. I personally like fishing off the jetties at Isla Blanca Park. Sea Turtle Inc is a must! They rescue & rehabilitate injured Sea Turtles, then release them back when they a well again. There is a free Island Metro service that takes you all over the Island & to Port Isabel, It also connects with the free shuttle service to Brownsville Airport. There is a large water park on the south side of the Island. With only approx 5 miles of the Island being developed nothing is far.
