About this property

2 blocks to historic downtown Martindale and 3 blocks to the river

Nestled between the rolling hills of Austin and the historic sites of The Alamo City, Hen House Cottage is a private, rustic residence situated near the San Marcos River in Martindale, Texas, a quaint town known for its tight-knit community, interesting personalities and scenic views -- which have made it to the set of more than one Hollywood production. With a full kitchen, modern amenities (high speed internet, cable television) and enough room to accommodate four guests comfortably. Hen House Cottage is the perfect headquarters for an extended expedition into the many wonders of Central Texas, a haven for souls who enjoy river life and recreation, a convenient spot to get away from the pressures of the big city in a more relaxed environment, or simply a better alternative to impersonal, inconvenient and cramped hotels while doing business in the area. Local attractions include the well-trafficked outlet malls of San Marcos, nationally acclaimed barbecue restaurants of Lockhart, the original Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels and Texas State University -- home of the LBJ Museum, honoring one of its most famous students, our 37th president Lyndon Baines Johnson. The location offers easy access to San Antonio and Austin by the interstate or toll road. For those who would like to stay close to home during their stay at Hen House Cottage the cool waters of the San Marcos River are a short walk away, and you can enjoy the city park with river access, take a float with one of the tubing services, rent a canoe from a local outfitter, or enjoy a beer or coffee from our very own Martindale River Café and Mercantile within walking distance of the cottage!

Just what we needed
Atlas provided the cabin and comfy accommodations we needed for my husband, myself and aging 4 legged family member… she is close proximity to cabin but we felt we had the privacy we were looking for as well… all good!

Hen House Cottage
The host was amazing. She extremely considerate and helpful. This was a great place for us to use as a base for a bit of kayaking in the area. We would happily stay here again in the future.

Nice little house in town
Hen house was a neat and orderly little cabin in small town Martindale. Had everything we needed for a weekend stay. Owner even left the lights on for us due to our evening arrival. She had also contacted us to make sure everything was good. Which it was. If you need a quiet place to recharge it will not disappoint. Stay here.
