Everything was so cute & nicely appointed... we were very comfortable. We tried a little of everything., the outer and inner fireplaces and the hot tub were all fun... I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit Asheville."

Our brand new rustic modern cabins allow you to reconnect with nature and loved ones, and stay within a short Uber ride to fabulous downtown Asheville. Relax on the expansive porch with seating and dining areas, and a retro-modern cone fireplace (firewood provided). LIsten to the babbling Shope Creek, steps from the front porch. Take a dip in our pristine hot tub under the stars, and be spoiled with extra towels and cozy robes. Play yard games. Have a fire pit cookout and s'mores roast. Sit and read a book at benches along the creek. Take a nap in an Eno hammock under the towering trees. Enjoy mountain views, wildlife and the many native plants.

The cabin's interior features an open floor plan and modern conveniences. The master suite includes a new queen bed with luxurious linens, and closet with washer/ dryer. Our spa-like bath includes fluffy towels, organic bath products and a large tiled shower. The main living space features rustic modern furnishings, a large flatscreen TV, and fully-stocked kitchen with new stainless appliances.

For foodies, we recommend Buxton Hall Southern BBQ and neighboring microbreweries in the South Slope District, Night Bell featuring James Beard awardee Chef Katie Button, Chai Pani Indian Street Food with MG Road cocktail lounge downstairs on Wall Street, En La Calle Mexican food on Eagle St, and Bouchon French Comfort Food and Creperie on Lexington Ave.

About Mae

Modcabins is a family owned business. We designed and built rustic modern micro houses just 7 miles from downtown Asheville. We are passionate about the tiny house movement, a cultural shift to live a more self-sufficient, environmentally friendly and financially secure life. We love hosting visitors at the cabins in a beautiful mountain setting.

We recognize that on average, our guests have only a few weeks of vacation time each year. Therefore we spoil our guests with a relaxing and luxurious experience that allows them to reconnect with nature and loved ones, and feel restored and when returning home.

Why Mae chose Asheville

I am an Appalachian native, and love being a part of our mountain community. We chose this property because it is located conveniently only 7 miles to downtown Asheville, 4 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and 1 mile from dozens of hiking trails in the Pisgah national Forest. The property also borders the beautiful Shope Creek, with mountain and forest views.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was conviently located near everything including downtown and the Biltmore. It had everything we needed and wished we could’ve stayed an extra day to really enjoy the cabin more. The hot tub and fireplace on the porch were the highlights of our night every night. I’d recommend this cabin to any couple needing a romantic getaway to just reconnect and relax.

Fantastic Cabin!!!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin in Asheville is so super cute! It is a perfect size for a couple looking to get away. We absolutely love the style. While it is simple, it is very well appointed and I loved the details. The owners include all the little touches to make you feel welcome like a s'mores kit and flannel plaid bathrobes. Loved the outdoor seating area with the couch, long table and fireplace. We had breakfast out there in the mornings. The bed was SO comfortable. What isn't clearly shown in the pics is the nice little river that runs along the cabin/property. We slept with the windows open and could hear it all night which was very soothing. Great relaxing weekend in the woods!

My husband and I stayed in this wonderful cabin for a weekend getaway! It was the perfect, cozy atmosphere for a couple. It is also very close to all Asheville has to offer.

great little place, so clean and welcoming. neighbors are closer than I imagined but it's so quiet it didn't matter at all. Owners were so responsive and helpful and the whole experience was lovely. I would happily stay here again!

Beautiful, clean, hip getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with this tiny house mod cabin and can’t wait to return. It was close enough to downtown but tucked away enough to just enjoy the beautiful and quiet surroundings. The design and functionality were perfect and the amenities were great. Love the fireplace and the hammock!

Hot tub in the snow

  • 4 of 5

It was a great little place to stay! We got lucky with a bit of snow while we were there and decided to spend that time in the hot tub. The fireplace is great and they provide plenty of wood. Only downside is it is not as secluded as I thought initially, the other cabin is on the same property. Still a great stay though! Would highly recommend for a getaway.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the positive feedback, Clarissa! We’re glad you had a chance to experience the hot tub in the snow - that is a rare treat. You are right - these cabins are less remote as they're only 7 miles from downtown, and in more of a cozy mountain community. We show this with our photos of the neighboring cabins, along with the listing number for our cabin. We're glad you still enjoyed your vacation!
