About Alison Jackson

I grew up in Swansea and moved to Lincolnshire in 1980. I am a retired teacher now living in a village near Louth, which is a lovely market town in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Alison Jackson purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Alison Jackson chose Anderby

I bought Antoinette after spending many happy years visiting nearby Wolla Bank and Moggs Eye to picnic and swim. I did a complete renovation, opening it out to let in the light, and painting the floorboards. I bought the land in front to make a garden and to make room for my antique living van and added a verandah to sit out in any weather.

What makes this cottage unique

Everyone covets the houses on the top of the dunes with sea views, but mine is tucked away in the shelter of the dell, away from the wind. A few steps up and I am on the beach. I can sit and watch the sunset or the rabbits hopping by. I have managed to find which plants they will not eat so they are welcome to chew the grass.

Relaxing, quiet and friendly

  • 4 of 5

What a pleasant little cottage to stay in. We booked from New Zealand and everything was as expected (Alison even let us pay cash as the banking from NZ was complicated). Lovely beach only a minutes walk away. Would recommend - Graham

Owner's Response: It was lovely to meet you as I don't always get the chance to meet guests. My cleaner, Angie, is always on hand to meet their needs.

Lovely place

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely stay here, the locals were friendly and the beach was 5 minutes away. My boys enjoyed staying in the workers van. We would definitely return again.

Very dirty and old

  • 1 of 5

The property is very quaint and quirky, however it is in need of a makeover. The washer and dishwasher are both antiques and full of dirt. The bath room ceiling needs cleaning from the mould deposits and rusty radiator. In essence it needs a deep clean before I would return.

The cleaner lives across the road, I think but even if we were to say anything it would have taken too long to clean the cottage up so we decided to come home early.

The reason for my review is to check the property before unpacking and go and see the cleaner before you start your holiday

Owner's Response: I am very surprised that these guests stayed for almost the whole week without saying anything about these issues. The cleaner had spoken to them after a couple of days and asked if everything was alright and got a thumbs up. Her husband spoke to them in the pub and they said everything was fine. I am just sorry they didn't follow their own advise and go and see the cleaner at the start of their holiday or contact me.The cleaner's details are in the cottage. Antoinette is over 80 years old, as it states in the listing, but the washer and dishwasher are less than 10 years old, as are mine at home. This is a property that appeals to people seeking to get away from the pressures of modern living, as previous reviews testify. It is particularly popular with dog owners and it is cleaned thoroughly after each visit.
