Hello! I am a French national married with an English man..When our children were about 6 or 7 we thought of getting a place on the coast which would be a way for them and us to get closer to nature and experience a simple way of life..We were so happy to find this cottage which used to belong to a single gentle old man, very close to the church, who died there.Straight away we felt it had a peaceful atmosphere. We have spent many happy holidays there , looking for fossils, walking everywhere, making objects for the cottage with driftwood picked up on the beach after a storm..painting pebbles when it rained and eating caught fish .. The children still love going there to get away from the rat race and we try to meet up there together for special family reunions ( although it is a bit small for all of us at the same time now!) ....or just as couples to recharge our batteries. It is a place full of Love and happy times . Some friends use it as a refuge when life is tough ..and the good vibes in the cottage plus The power of Nature bathing in the pure sea air ... do the trick! We hope you will benefit from Half Pint Cottage benevolent atmosphere...Have a Good Time! .
Jocelyne Blower purchased this cottage in 1990
I have said it all above !!
friendly , natural , intimate, at walking distance from e-ve-ry-thing , =lots of wood around the place and home made objects, lots of good vibes from the past...+ a PARKING PLACE ..which helps !
This is a really good place to stay in Lyme Regis. It is great to be able to walk easily to shops, the sea, the Cobb and along the river. The parking place is a real plus. The cottage is well equipped .The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of storage space. The living room and dining room are spacious and there are 2 televisions. The garden area is sunny and there is a sun room which is great when the weather is wet. Lyme Regis is a good base for exploring Dorest. There are lots of great walks and interesting National trust properties to visit. There is a really nice Italian restaurant Italia which serves excellent pizza! We had no problems with the Saniflow toilet. There is a good shower and small bath.
All in all, a quiet and peaceful place to stay. We miss the sound of the seagulls!
Enjoyed the time at the cottage. Weather was good for the time of year. We went to the swannery at Abbotsbury and feed the swans the sub tropical gardens were lit for Halloween my daughter really enjoyed this. We tried some places to eat in the town and the pizza place on the beach was really nice with an unusual children's menu ( not the usual fish fingers chips and beans).
A perfectly located cottage with tons of character. A short walk to the seafront and even closer to the artisan quarter (bakery / brewery / art galleries etc.)
We used Half Pint cottage for a week long family get away with our young (2 1/2 years) daughter and absolutely loved it. There's tons to do in Lyme and it was great to have a close at hand base to head back to at lunch / tea time when fatigue started to kick in and nap times to recharge batteries were required (for all of us!)
Would highly recommend and would definitely visit again.
We had a lovely stay. The cottage was comfortable and very charming and had everything we needed. We loved the area, too and will be back.
Fantastic location close to the sea and the artisan quarter and a delightful place to retire to at the end of the day. Although small had enough different spaces for the family to spread out in. Perfect for a family of 4 (with bunk bed aged kids). Brilliant holiday.
Half Pint is in a perfect location, just a brief and picturesque stroll to the centre of Lyme Regis and the shore, but on a quiet street.
The cottage is obviously old, with thick, slightly wonky walls, tiled and wooden floors, quirky, plenty of original features, and completely charming! It has been sensitively decorated, very comfortable beds, and a sun room is great for cooler evenings.
The garden is sheltered and catches the sun all day. A parking space is rare and a great bonus in Lyme.
Jocelyne is a great host with attentive customer service and personal touch, Half Pint feels like a beloved home we were priveledged to 'borrow' - highly recommended this is the perfect place to stay in Lyme.
Ideal location and place for a small family, or a group of friends, or a romantic break,or a retreat for Peace or painting..Walking distance from the beach or the country side, water sports, fossil hunting!, glorious views on Jurassic coast, boutiques, restaurants, pubs, cinema ,excursions, Art...and your own parking place...you will forget all your worries...
