About Rose

Tel: 07752059460. My husband grew up in nearby Barrow and, as a family we have explored the area with our children for many years. Keen to continue this even when his parents were no longer around, we fell in love with this cottage which we think is in the most idyllic location imaginable. Although we live more than 200 miles away, we get up whenever we can - our dogs are in their element at the cottage and run for miles across the sands. Our children as adults visit with their friends - taking the opportunity to go for long walks, bike rides, paddling their kayaks and flying kites.

Rose purchased this bungalow in 2006

Why Rose chose Kendal & South Lakes

We had no intention of purchasing a property but it was one of those moments where we both fell instantly in love with the cottage and location and knew we must have it. We've had no regrets and, besides letting it out, ourselves, family and friends have had many magical holidays at the cottage.

What makes this bungalow unique

Location, location! stunning views from the conservatory and gardens over Morecambe Bay with the hills of the Lake District in the distance. The seclusion and tranquillity of the cottage - no near neighbours. Pubs (and food) 5 mins walk away. Vast sands to walk out on (ideal for dogs). Amazing bird life in Morecambe Bay can be viewed from the property. Ideal base for exploring Southern and Western Lake District or just going for walks and bike rides from the property.

This was our third visit to Maskel Beach Cottage and it was by far our best visit.....my partner and I decided to get married there this time! What can I say apart from we love the location and the cottage just feels like home from home (but with far better views!). I think it will be very hard to beat the overall package this cottage has to offer. Thank you Rose and Bob for your lovely card and bottle of bubbly for our special day and for giving us the chance to get married somewhere very close to our hearts.

Quaint & Quirky Chalet beautiful peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

We loved the quirkiness of this chalet, (eg uneven floors, old curved window), Whilst we would not describe it as luxurious it was clean, homely, very comfortable, well equipped, and in a lovely peaceful location. The view across the bay to Morcambe and beyond (fully visible from all of the front windows when standing and from about half of the conservatory when sitting) is stunning and from just outside the gate you can even see blackpool tower through the binocs when it is clear! Our dogs loved the beach and we loved the quietness as they were shattered at night. There is lots of useful info in the chalet and the owners answered emails quickly and provided lots of really useful information - the "locals" were really friendly and Rose was a pleasure to deal with - thank you:)

Lovely location

  • 4 of 5

Just back from a lovely week. Weather was really hot one day then monsoons and storms the next! Position of the property is fantastic - overlooking the bay. Probably not the best choice for 90 year old dad as he's not brill on his feet. Our fault, not the property! Puppy loved the beach though. Nearby pubs with great food and one dog friendly. Property Obviously been updated - now with dishwasher and fairly big TV for dad! When sat on patio though you can't see the sea which was a shame, especially for dad. Conservatory was nice with a good view, but too hot to sit in most of the time - maybe some blinds??? Sainsburys delivered food - but road is so narrow! Tesco refused to come down the lane - but should have been ok as there's plenty of turning room at the bottom. Nice contact from owners about some cracked tiles - customer service very good! Little things like a few more mugs and some more cutlery would have been great.

Enjoyed our stay very much - didn't know the area at all, but it's great and certainly worth a visit!!! Thanks Rose and Bob

Owner's Response: Many thanks for this constructive review I shall point out to guests that the top of the beach is pebbly and therefore could be difficult for people not too sure on their feet. We didn't realise Tesco don't deliver down the lane - Asda do as well as Sainsbury's so it's Tesco's loss! We will review whether to put blinds in the conservatory if we have more days as hot as you had, it was extremely hot that week. Usually you can get it cool enough opening the windows but it's certainly something we will consider. We thought the cottage was well stocked with mugs and cutlery - maybe a few have been lost along the way so we'll check and stock up. And the cracked tiles have now been replaced! Rose

A little bit of heaven on earth!

  • 5 of 5

Despite have all four seasons (mostly Winter!) thrown at us during our week's stay we had such an enjoyable relaxing week in this lovely peaceful cottage. It was our first visit and we certainly weren't disappointed-comfy beds, chairs and settees; everything to hand in the kitchen, fires to keep us warm and views from the conservatory to die for. Step outside and all you hear is birdsong, sheep in the fields and sea sounds - and the night sky is amazing. What a wonderful place. Thank you Rose and Bob-we had everything we needed-except perhaps sunshine...maybe next time!
