John Owens or Barbara Owens purchased this apartment in 2003
It has great views. It has parking and is in a quiet area without being too remote (only 1 kilometer from Vernet village centre).
Rent in comfort whether you are walking, cycling, mountaineering, skiing or just chilling.
Have French/Spanish/Catalan culture all around you, listen to the birds warble or walk 5 mins to the newly enhanced and really good swimming pool complex, complete some of the VTT routes over the hills and through the forests --- and then return to hot water, good cooking (and entertaining) facilities and comfortable beds.
Vernet les Bains is in the foothills of the Pyrenees, specifically Mount Canigou a 'sacred' mountain to the Catalans. It has Spa Facilities - many French people visited for 'the cure'. It has an Art-Deco Casino and a history of cultural visits by Rudyard Kipling and others. There are even Renee Mackintosh museums nearby and links to the Da Vinci trail a bit further away towards Carcassone.
Within the area there are examples of Cathar Castles, Vauban's fortifications and vineyards, peach growers etc. An hour to a range of Mediterranean beaches, an hour to the skiing. Some say 1.5 hrs to Andorra (shopping AND skiing).
The little yellow train (petit train jaune) is an engineering marvel wending its way into the mountains and the high plains beyond. There are many walks that are close to the route of the train and this is a good way of returning to a start point.
Cycling, whether on road or mountain biking, is very popular. There are many V.T.T. trails marked out.
