About Susan Coburn Weinberg
My husband and I have traveled long and far and hope to continue making many journeys to exotic destinations to experience life as locals in as many places as we can and enjoy sharing our home with people looking for a unique experience in our second home country. We speak English and Spanish.
Susan Coburn Weinberg purchased this Guest House in 2008
Why Susan Coburn Weinberg chose Panamá Oeste Province
A visit to this section of Panama is unique as you are in a colorful local neighborhood where you can walk to a kiosk that sells fresh garden fruit and vegetables, or buy fish right off the fishermen's boats on the beach.
What makes this Guest House unique
For independent folks who like to explore the surroundings, the mountains are practically across the highway and provide many scenic drives and another climate. El Valle is a mountain town that welcomes visitors with an open market of handicrafts and fresh garden fruits and vegetables. Zip lining, walking, seeing how the locals live, souvenir shopping (ever seen a mountain scene, or parrot or iguana painted on a tiny feather mounted in a frame?) unique and different handicrafts - get them if you see them; they don't last.

The pictures and the owner are somewhat deceiving. First off never rent anything that doesn't have reviews. Susan the owner listed on this property is supposedly the owner, but when you contact her she is not the owner, Josh is. I rented this property a year in advance. When I asked her about no reviews she stated that the long time renter had just moved out. That seemed plausible, but the neighbors dispute the longtime renter and stated that the unit has been a revolving door of people staying in the unit, so it is curious that there are no reviews. When I got the statement she had charged me for an extra person even though I had told her it was for 2. She stated she would refund that charge. I have reminded her that she owned the amount back to me which she has ignored. After it was too late to cancel the reservation she informed me that her husband had suddenly sold the property, but assured me everything would be just fine. Upon arrival we found there was no water pressure in the kitchen, NO stocked pantry, 2 cooking pans and ceiling fan on patio non functioning. The lovely view of the beach has an abandoned building in the middle of it and the beach is only accessible down a pothole rock and dirt road. On the plus side the patio always has a nice breeze. The water situation went down hill, for 3 days we had to collect water to flush the toilet and wash dishes as we had no water. We were told it was the city's water problem but everyone in the complex had water so that didn't make sense. We were told, " it's how it is here." On the 3rd day the neighbor discovered that the valve was turned off as they had no water either. As for who owns the property that is questionable but Josh is the contact person and lives locally. They were responsive to the problems and did buy the needed cook ware and replace the ceiling fan which is needed in the hot time of the day. I really had no issues with Josh and his wife as I think they were unaware of the real water issue. If you need to rent a car he is a good resource. I have request a partial refund from Susan due to the inconvenience of no water for 3 days, as who would stay anywhere without water, but there again no response. The positives: A/C works well, the beds /linens, towels are fine and swimming pool is nice. Things that could be better: comfortable furniture. This property is more remote than we realized and you do need a car, but you can call for a taxi. Taxi cost $12.00 round trip
I am terribly sorry this guest had such a disappointing experience. Unfortunately for us, this review is filled with misinformation. We have always represented our property honestly with pride and care for our guests. By the time of this guest’s stay, this property had been sold and was under new management. Unfortunately, a number of problems happened unexpectedly at the beginning of her stay, and although we couldn’t take over and resolve the issues for her, I did everything I could to get her help. Even though it wasn’t my responsibility, she had initially reserved with me and I wanted things to be right for her. We have always been very responsive to our guests and when unexpected things happened, we were always on top of it right away trying to make it right for them as quickly as possible.
Almost at the end of the road, this private villa community sits on a small rise providing an infinity pool and lovely ocean view. We offer a luxury apartment in a natural setting, surrounded by large private homes.
