Cute and Cozy Home
I didn't give 5 stars for this location only because it is an older home, and comes with older home quirks, such as loose door knobs, etc. However, this home met my families needs perfectly, it was a clean and extremely cute older home. The location was perfect, quiet but close to everything. We would definitely recommend this home to family and friends, and would love to stay again if the need arises.
Cute place, it’s a little farther to down town than we anticipated but it was easy enough to grab an Uber into town and back. Walking would have been an option if it wasn’t so hot. Has a nice fenced in yard for the kids to run around in and is very near a park.
The lock box on the entry door was not working properly. Had to call for code on the second lock box. There was only 1 key in there and it takes 2. Our point of contact was out of state, and had never even been to the house. The other was away for the weekend(hopefully she had a better stay). The house cleaner finally came and was able to wrestle open the first box. She took the 1 key that we didn't have to make a copy for the other lock box and we never saw her again. The wifi didn't work. No cable TV. Sprinklers were running both evenings when we came home from our evening out, at 9:00 and had to wade through them because our 1 key didnt work on the front door. Couldn't find the reserve parking(there really wasn't any unless you wanted to park in the alley) The house was older but clean, and the kitchen was appointed very nicely.
It's a cute little house, very thankful for the air conditioning. Had a few minor issues-not able to connect with internet and no cable, but we weren't there very much so it wasn't a big deal. Not a fan of the upstairs bathroom door having glass panes and unable to shut door, anyway, due to carpet. But really, these were all things we were able to cope with just fine.
The home does not have cable, but we do with the guest had called about the internet so we could have made sure that amenity was working for them. The owner will be working on solutions for the bathroom door. Thank you!
It was "fair"
The positives: Location was good. Quiet neighborhood
The negatives: The door for the upstairs bathroom is a clear glass door, so there is absolutely no privacy. The water pressure for the house is very low. Taking a shower is a challenge. Wifi is slow. There is a TV, which is listed as an amenity in the homeaway "amenities section", however it is not hooked up to any service, which SHOULD be stated, just to be clear. There is a DVD player, but you have to go out and rent your own DVDs. There is no DVD library in the house. There is a clothes washer, but the settings dial is broken and stuck on only one setting. There are contact numbers for the management company, but when I called to ask questions, no one was available to take my call. I emailed my questions to the management company, and received an automated response that someone would get back to me in 24 hours, which was disappointing.
So, to sum it all up, if you are only staying there for a couple of days, and you want a quiet place in a good location, and you only read books and don't watch TV, or do laundry or take showers, then this is the place for you!
We are sorry to see our guest was not thoroughly pleased with their accommodations. The home is not listed with cable, though it has a DVD player. Please note there is not a movie library at this rental. WiFi is slow in this area due to the provider, and there are not other options at this time. Again, we apologize for any inconveniences or disappointments.
Cons Outweigh the Pros
My in-laws, husband, daughter and I stayed at this property for four nights. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and the location allows for an easy walk to downtown. It was nice to have a kitchen and dining room to gather and talk. However, the house feels unkempt and dirty from the cat smell when you first enter to the forgotten trash, dirty trash can, and dust accumulation in the window sills and baseboards. The doorknob for one of the upstairs bedrooms came off in my husband's hand and some of the electrical outlets seem plain dangerous. The beds appear to be older. My in-laws noted they rolled to the middle of the bed, and the futon bedroom did not contain a set of sheets for both futons. The stain on one of the futons made me wish for the second set. There is one shower in the house and the water pressure is very low. My mother in-law had to get down on all fours to rinse the shampoo out of her hair under the tub faucet. This house has potential but in its current state, I would not stay here again. A final note- there is a friendly cat next door for those who love cats.
We appreciate receiving this review. The housekeeping issues are being addressed, and the other issues are being shared with the owner. This is a very basic home, but we're hoping for some upgrades this fall. Thanks!
