Great property with lots of character for extended or larger families

Our extended family stayed over Christmas. Both heat and hot water were in abundance. The owner has installed a new boiler and also replaced the Aga with a new range cooker. There was plenty of space for us all to sit up to the dining table and also to sit together in the larger of the two sitting rooms. It was great to have the smaller sitting room for those who wished to escape the noisy games, and having the piano was a bonus. We all slept well in comfy beds. The large kitchen made it easy to cater for large numbers and the house has 2 fridge freezers. The house is full of character and has beautiful features such as the large wood-framed conservatory and some lovely window frames. it is in a huge garden and also in a prime location in Scarborough in the pretty village of Scalby, yet not far from the sea or the town. The listing told us that some of the furnishings are not the latest, but if one can live that it's excellent value for money. We would definitely return. The shower in the main bathroom could do with re-tiling and a new shower tray but I'm still giving 5 stars as the few deficits are reflected in the price for this property.

Owner's Response: It's very pleasing that this party were so satisfied with the accommodation. As mentioned in the review, the house has recently benefitted from a new boiler, which means reliable and efficient heating and hot water supply. The new range cooker has replaced the old aga, and greatly adds to the cooking options available. The kitchen has been re-decorated since this party stayed at Xmas. There is always more that can be done, but The Croft does offer a comfortable stay at an affordable price. S.J.Dawson, owner
