Beausejour Rustic House

Bedrooms 5
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 3 nights

About the property

Stunning rustic hideaway in between the Pitons with amazing ocean views.

A cozy, hilltop house nestled between the Pitons. Stunning views of the Caribbean Sea with wrap around decks and outdoor seating areas. This is a very old family home and has slight imperfections that add to its island charm. All the rooms are attached with outdoor walkways giving each guest complete privacy. Have a swim in the pool, lounge on the decks and dine under the stars.

This house is off the grid so things like ac/electricity and water are temperamental, they usually work great but sometimes have defects. I will always try to get someone to the property as fast as I can however, this is an island and we are in the countryside so things take a little longer.

Local cook onsite. Private meals as requested for an additional fee.

You can walk just 10 minutes away to nearby beaches or you can drive and explore the whole island.

Please keep note. Though we welcome families at our place we do not have high chairs or baby cribs at the house, so please come prepared.

Check in: 3-7pm

Check-out: 11am

If you have only reserved a portion of the house, there may be other guests staying in the other guest rooms. I will let you know before booking.

Visit our beausejourbnb website for more information.

Paradise in the jungle

  • 5 of 5

We have been to many beautiful places in the Caribbean, but villa Beausejour has them all beat! It is located at a very private location between the famous St. Lucia Pitons, in the middle of a tropical forest and a five-minute walk from the best beach on the island, Sugar Bay. The villa a is a work of a master architect and the way it is positioned in the forest with a breathtaking views of the water and the Pitons is absolutely unique.

There were four adults and four children in our party and we occupied 4 out of the 5 bedrooms, cooked in the kitchen equipped for a professional cook and dined in a Indian-decorated gazebo overlooking the sea. Bought fresh fish at a market in Soufriere, or directly from the fishermen on a nearby beach. We collected breadfruit, mango, papaya and other fruit growing on surrounding trees. Swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving at a gorgeous beach was just 5 minutes away.

Overall, a fantastic vacation!

A word of caution: the villa is accessible by narrow, winding, steep and often broken-up road. Driving (on the left side!) there can be quite adventurous and takes some getting-used to.

Breathtaking spacious villa spread across beautiful grounds with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

This is a truly magical place to stay. We were a large group (9 people) of friends who arrived having spent a week sailing the islands. The villa was the most perfect place to retreat having spent a week at sea. Everyone was blown away by the luxury and beauty of the place.

Gloria was very accommodating and responsive to all of our requests. I would completely recommend this property to anyone looking for something special

Stunning, unique, and private escape

  • 5 of 5

Our group was four couples and we were all completely mesmerized by this amazing property. Each couple had their own private place to retreat to while the central communal areas offered the perfect arrangement to enjoy one another’s company. The views are spectacular as the estate in nestled between the dramatic, breathtaking pitons. The style of the place is so tasteful: architected to be attuned to the local landscape AND ornate in its international flair, creating a truly one-of-a kind location, unimposing and elegant, to offer a refuge in which you will relish the beauty of this island. The gardens and pools are gorgeous, the well-equipped kitchen helped us host many enjoyable meals, the bathrooms were all very spacious, and the many decks and nooks gave us a variety of places to eat, read, nap, and enjoy each other’s company. Mary is lovely; in fact, everyone we had the pleasure of meeting on this island was so kind and helpful.

Right from the house we enjoyed Sugar Beach, and despite the heart-stopping roads one must traverse to get to this idyllic house, we ventured all along the coast and hiked to the dizzying views of the Petit Piton (must be in great shape and have no vertical fears to summit), went on a sailing and snorkeling expedition with Mystic Man, went scuba diving with Adventure Divers, explored the bright streets of Soufriere, visited the botanical gardens, ate at the delicious Martha’s Table, and found many more lovely spots to enjoy ourselves. All were absolutely wonderful and we highly recommend them. Thank you to Gloria and all we had the fortune to meet; we all are trying to figure out how and when we can return to this paradise!

Our favourite place on earth!

  • 5 of 5

We've been to St.lucia 6 times now and stayed in 10 different villas all over the island. We think the north is beautiful but it is totally different from the south part of the island, particularly Soufriere. We tend to stay there to capture the true beauty of the island. It is more lush with its incredible rain forests and has more going on in terms of its flora and fauna. Beausejour villa is the ultimate place for us, as it has it all. We've been to Beausejour a couple of times now, and no other villa on the island compares to its location and stunning beauty. It is situated in the middle of both Pitons. What more can you want. The house itself is an architectural marvel. Its 5 bedrooms are sprawled out over the mountain side, giving each guest total privacy. There is a large commercial kitchen by the pool area, which is a gem for me since I love to cook. They have a housekeeper named Mary who will make breakfasts, but we chose to make all of our own meals, when not eating out. That was the only draw back to this place. We felt like Mary and her son ( who said he was there to clean and do maintenance and actually never did anything ) were constantly there. We asked them not to come as much since we were not needy guests and their phone number was there in case we needed anything. Some guests like having someone there to cook their meals and to give them fresh towels and linens everyday, we are not those people, so if you don't want house cleaning there constantly, be sure to request this in advance. Also, don't get suckered in to eating at all the fancy over priced local restaurants. Ladera and Boucan (Hotel Chocolat ) are nice for a try, but we ate at Fedo's most of the time. Authentic, cheap and incredibly tasty!

The grounds are incredible with their amazing array of plants and flowers brought in from all over the islands. The smell is just unbelievable in the morning, when the dew is still on the flowers. The cannonball flower in particular was so beautiful and aromatic. They have a lot of acreage and different trees on the property, such as coffee and cinnamon trees. The cocoa trees and plantation is just a 5 minute drive up the hill as well.

My favourite spot on the property is the balcony off to the Copra house, where I would sit every morning and listen to the dozens of humming birds in the tree off to the side.

Beausejour is a mystical place steeped in history and beauty. I cannot wait to come back to this magical place next year.

Absolutely stunning location!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Beausejour House Febuary 9-18, 2018. We were a family of 6 (2 parents and 4 teenagers). We booked all 5 rooms, not realizing each room was totally self-contained, so the kids really enjoyed having their own "space". A lot of the time, however, we spent together lounging by the pool (it was shaded and very comfortable) or on the deck over looking the property, with beautiful ocean views, listening to music and playing cards.

Most of the time, there was no hot water and just a small trickle coming from our shower (the adults stayed in Cherry Tree). One time I just heated up the electric kettle and had a spit bath to wash my hair! I chalk that up to part of the adventure. The location is a bit difficult to find (we tried following the directions Gloria sent us)-it was after dark when we finally arrived. Mary graciously stayed late until our arrival to show us around-she is the best! She folded our laundry that we left in the dryer overnight, made sure we had clean beach towels. She even texted us when we were on our way back to the airport to let us know we left our iPad behind, and then walked over half an hour to meet us on the road so we wouldn't miss our flight! We did make our own breakfast a few times as we got a bit tired of the eggs, toast and cereal. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need to prep meals, as well as a large fridge and freezer for groceries. We walked the short walk to Sugar Beach, and were stopped when we got to the resort 'guards'. We politely but firmly said they had to give us access to the public beach and they let us through. We did not use their private road, but did go along the rocks. However, when our teens tried to go on their own, the guards absolutely refused them access. They were quite disappointed with that.

One of our daughters got stung by a scorpion in her room, so just be aware. It was on the floor near her bed, and fell out of a piece of clothing she was packing up, then got her big toe. This one was not venomous. Had some little frogs, lizards, and a few monster spiders join us in our bathrooms but this just adds to the charm of the tropics.

It was a beautiful tropical hideaway that is decorated with lots of charm, and really has everything you need!. A lot of the outdoor adventure activities and great snorkelling are located near by (within a 20-45 min drive). Take advantage of hiking Petit Piton-it is only a 10 minute drive up the road and although tough, its so worth it!

Amazing doesn't do it justice

  • 5 of 5

This is the coolest place you will find anywhere in the Caribbean. We had 10 people and had more than enough room. The place is gorgeous and the pictures, while great, can't capture how amazing a property this place is. Mary, who cares for the property, cooks you breakfast every morning. Internet does not cover the whole property but is strong in some of the rooms and in the common seating area overlooking the water. Easy 10 min walk to the beach. Gloria the owner is great and has a lot of information. Go on the boat tour with Solomon, whom she recommended, and use Deighton, whom she also recommended, as a driver. They are both super cool and will take great care of you. We will return someday. Thank you for an amazing visit.

Our home is very secluded and there are no street names in our neighbourhood. I would suggest hiring a driver to/from the airport to the house to easily find your way. If you have any questions about the house directions, I will guide you.
