NOT WORTH THE MONEY
This condo is spacious and in a very nice complex that is exceptionally clean and in nice spot on the beach but 514 has many shortcomings...I am a house flipper and this condo needs flipped. Living room furniture is old, uncomfortable and outdated...blankets in the closets were from the 70s, literally fuzzy with satin trim and paper thin.. beds not comfortable and bedding cheap as cheap can be. The bath towels are the size of a towel you would use for your hair or a bath mat. I had to wash all the towels every night we were there because there weren't many for the 5 of us. The patio furniture when we got there was the biggest disappointment. Our Chase lounge was broken and lying on the ground, the table and chairs were from the Dollar Store and completely cheap & worn out. I immediately contacted the owner Terry and asked him if he'd get us new furniture. He said he could do a work order for the lounger and it wouldn't be in til later in the week. He then told me I could get a refund and leave if I wasn't happy. I explained there had been a mix up with my condo I originally booked or I wouldn't be staying there and I didn't have anywhere else to go. The new lounger came a day or two before we left and he wanted my husband to go to the building next door, lug it over there and put it together. I declined...the table and chairs would barely hold us up out on the balcony. I stood out on the beach and looked at all the other balconies, ours had the worst patio furniture in the entire complex. He told me he can't have anything heavy or nice because it has to be moved inside during bad weather...wonder how others manage? There are no beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas or beach toys so take your own. We tried to rent an umbrella & chairs when we got their and all 90 were reserved for the week. The door out on the balcony is so old and heavy you can barley open and close it. The thermostat must be consistently turned back down because if unoccupied it goes back up to like 79 degrees...we would come in from dinner and it would be burning up. He sent housekeeping to change the dirty air filters and my husband said it was overdue. I was very dissatisfied with the price we were charged for this condo. You can stay most anywhere and get more for your money. It is way overpriced. The pool and the gym in the building are nice. The Palms is located close to many good places to eat & only about 30 minutes or so from the outlet butI give it thumbs down 👎🏻.
We typically don't use heavy blankets and only order lighter weight blankets due to being at the beach and not usually needed. In our instructions we don't furnish beach towels only normal size towels and they are not to leave the condos interior. We require you to bring your own exterior beach towels, toys, chairs, tents etc... We have eight bath towels inside the condo and after that we furnish a washer and dryer for you to do laundry. We can at an additional fee provide room service daily. The condo was checked prior to your arrival and there where no damaged chairs however in good faith we ordered a new one and shipped it there and our maintenance man set it up. We actually replace the HVAC filters every two weeks, and I'm sure its hard to understand just realize these units run most all day and night. Next year, I suggest if going during summer peak you plan and reserve your beach chairs in advance online thru a local beach service as they sellout quickly. We have nothing to do with the local beach rentals. We choose to use plastic outdoor furniture due to the constant moving of these in/out all season. As I'm writing this response all patio furniture has been mandatory ordered to be removed from the balconies and stored inside the condos with the current guests due to a current Tropical Depression in the Gulf. When this is required by the City, its very difficult for a guest to occupy the condo with patio furniture stored inside the condo. We do require that someone be inside the condo when using the HVAC system.
Thank you for your suggestions and we are always trying to improve.
Good condo in a good area.
Dusty, thank you and we hope to see you again.
With some work the unit has potential
Unit looked like it hadn’t been used in a while. Toilets had rings in them from standing water, fake plants all over unit were dusty. Fridge/freezer was running but not super cold, so called owner and was told to give it 24 hours to run right which seemed odd unless it had been unplugged prior to our arrival. Ended up losing $50-75 worth of groceries. Finally had new fridge delivered on 6th day of our stay, and lost beach time because had to be in unit to accept the delivery. Came in to no toilet paper or paper towels-usually find a starter set of necessities in condos we have selected in Orange Beach before. With some cleaning, updating unit two ups have rated higher. Building itself doesn’t have any automatic doors making entry and exit w beach carts or groceries very difficult. Only one ramp down to beach between 2 buildings otherwise have to take steps. Pool isn’t ideal for young swimmers, have to be on steps to stand up as water depth starts at 3feet although felt deeper than that. Overall, for the same price we have stayed at much nicer and newer condos in Orange Beach with way more amenities.
Amazing beach. Great accommodations.
Very enjoyable. Thanks Terry for sharing your little piece of paradise with our family.
Thank You Kimberley we enjoyed having you and hope you return soon.
