Casa Ciotta was born in 1887 as a summer residence of our family and is the first kind in the Gulf of Punta Grande. It has a splendid sea view and direct access to the beach and the surrounding Mediterranean greenery .
Our house was built in 1887 by Francis Ciotti, our great-grandfather. Since then it has always been inhabited for summer vacations from four generations that have followed
Our house has been inhabited various guests over the decades but it was also closed during the two great wars of the '900.
Calogero's grandfather, was consular representative for Sweden and Norway.
Had important relationships with foreign countries was an educated man and a fine pianist. On several occasions it distinguished guests enjoyed the moonlight with a glass of wine cheered by the sound of a grand piano still present on the upper floor.
We really like to have contact with the people and this activity allows us to make good friends.
We want to keep us in line with the tradition and share with others the pleasure of enjoying our sea.
The location of the house is privileged: right on the water and on the beach. It makes you feel at hand sea even if you stay on the terrace. Summer evenings with starry sky you enjoy particularly.
The house is old and full of history. This makes you immediately as soon as you cross the threshold.
The fact that it always belonged to our family makes it special because it gives a very clear identity.
Our family is very attentive to the needs of guests who can express their wishes without fear of causing trouble. It always happens that we entertain pleasant to drink good wine or a snack together.
The area is also very rich in cultural attractions.
The Valley of Temples is known to everyone, but you can not forget that where born Pirandello and Camilleri whose writings are inspired by typical human characteristics of the place. unique characteristics in terms of sympathy, intelligence and life philosophy.
Staying in this 19th century villa was the best part of our holiday in Sicily. The house has its specific, historical charm, it is just 20 meters from the beach, you sleep excellent and hear the sea waves in the vicinity. But what is more important are the owners, Eugenia and Mauricius, and Gabi, who will make you feel at home. Always helpfulful, but never intrusive, provdiing the best tips and often small surprises as a piece of fruit or a nice glass of wine. We enjoyed our stay fully!
We stayed for a week in the comfortable small apartement with a nice bedroom (kingsize bed), a perfectly equipped kitchen (gas), ensuite bathroom and private patio where we had breakfast in the sun. The apartement and the linen were clean, hot water for showers always worked (boiler).
The clean sandy beach is literally just 20sec away and has a beach bar, also the Scala Dei Turci (white-washed cliffs) could be reached in walking distance (10min). The car can be parked just off the house.
Our hosts Maurizio, Eugenia and Marco were overwhelmingly friendly and helpful with anything, it was a real pleasure meeting them.
We had a very very pleasant time and would recommend this apartement to any couple who want to enjoy a lovely holiday.
Nadine and Sven from Germany
We had a great time and enjoyed the hospitality of Eugenia and Maurizio very much.
The place is great, clean, quiet and good equipped.
There is a nice beach in front of the house and actually one could just be at the sandy beach or hang out on the two patios around the house the whole time and relax.
The villa with a great history is also a good hub to make trips to the temples and museums in Agrigento or the other beautiful beaches some minutes away by car.
And it is just around the corner of Scala dei Turci, there you can enjoy a nice sunset every evening.

Christmas in Casa Ciotta
Coming from the Cold in Germany we found a wonderful place in the South of Sicily, the Casa Ciotta with two extraordinary gentle hosts, Eugenia and Maurizio.
The house is very charming and additionally was beautifully decorated with a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere. At daytime we enjoyed long walks at the beach in warm sun light or visited the Scala dei Turchi and the Valle dei Templi, in the evenings the villa was heated and warm even if it became a little cold outside.
Eugenia and Maurizio are very helpful, showed us around and gave us the insider tips that make you feel like home. The dolci, the fruit, the limoncello, everything was delicious and delightful.
Again a huge Thank You for your hospitality, dear Eugenia and Maurizio!
We spent an amazing time here. The villa is located directly on the beach, you walk through the gate and there you are. We had 2 apartments, both were very beatiful and everything was clean. The hosts(family Ciotta) are very kind and always helpful.
The location is also very convenient. You can reach the "scala dei turchi" within a 10 min walk.
I recommend this place to everybody that loves to be near to the beach in a beatiful house& and likes to have nice company.
I hope to come back again.
The splendid setting of the Scala dei Turchi frames Puntagrande Beach, which our house overlooks. Only a few steps down the driveway and you are on the beach. There is also a bathing establishment very close by (50 meters,) with a restaurant-bar and musical entertainment on Sunday afternoons. The sea is particularly suitable for families because it is shallow and sandy and lends itself to the amusement of children. Lovers of rock are just a few meters' walk from coves and cliffs of particular beauty, in particular, the Scala dei Turchi, a brilliantly white cliff that rises above the sea, in the shape of a natural staircase between two sandy beaches. Its name derives from past raids of Saracen pirates, who found shelter there. At 500 meters (walking along the shore to the east) are the remains of a Roman Villa. In the small adjacent establishment, you can practice spinning, zumba, beach volleyball and water aerobics. In just a few minutes by car, you can reach the town of Porto Empedocle, to which in 2003 was added the name Vigata, the imaginary place where Inspector Montalbano, the protagonist of Camilleri's novels, lives. Lucky tourists may meet the famous writer in the streets of his home town. Continuing towards Agrigento, you will find Caos, the birthplace of the great Pirandello. A few more kilometers and you will be immersed in the Valley of the Temples, a thrilling excursion into history and the origins of Western culture.
