We found Trullo Serena a lovely property in an Idyllic Italian country setting.
The Trullo is located about a 10 minute drive from from the world heritage town of Alberobello. It should be noted that having access to a car is essential. The Trullo itself is well maintained and is authentic. By this I mean that the arches inside the Trullo that lead to the kitchen and master bedroom are a bit low so taller folks need to watch the height. We felt that the intimate interior added to the charm of the place. Once you enter the kitchen, and the master bedroom ceiling height and space are not at issue.
That being said, Trullo Serena is meant to be enjoyed outside (Al Fresco).
The design of the outside covered eating area, the beautiful pool, the lounge area (shaded by olive trees), the built inn BBQ and the lovely automatic night lighting have been well thought out by the designer.
There was even an adjacent storage area that housed the clothes washing machine and a wine fridge (which received a lot of use during our stay). We thought it was pleasant request that the we were asked to leave the driveway gate open in order to allow a farmer access to his olive groves which were just west of the Trullo. We were also impressed with the local agent who manages the property as any questions we had were immediately addressed.
There are many adjacent towns that are a pleasant drive and are well worth a visit. The Adriatic sea and beaches are about 25 minutes to the east.
In summery, we enjoyed out stay at Trullo Serena and we can recommend this property to anyone who would like the experience of staying in an authentic and updated Trullo.

We had a wonderful time
There is a wonderful sense of space and tranquility but so many things to see nearby such as Matera, Alerabello and some wonderful restaurants
Our two families with three teen girls stayed here for a week in July. The house provided a perfect base for our Italian vacation. The staff was very accommodating with our larger group and managed to squeeze a cot into the third room so the girls could sleep together. With the heat and teenagers who loves sleeping we ended up spending less time out and about and more time enjoying each other's company poolside. The pool was perfectly clean (cleaned once while we were there even), big, and a comfortable temperature. The house is well appointed so making our own meals was easy even with two cooks in the tiny kitchen. There was room for visitors for dinner outside with places to relax and chat. The beds were comfortable and the house clean on arrival. The house is very private in a beautiful countryside making it hard to leave.
The Trullo was very comfortable and well equipped. Clean and well maintained and the agents were very helpful. Lovely situation in amongst olive groves and very quiet. The pool was a good size and warm, and consequently well used. Good access to very good restaurants in Alberobello and Locorotondo, all at very reasonable prices. We would go back again.
Trullo Serena met all our expectations for a very relaxing holiday! We (two couples) stayed for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet, countryside location and great proximity to Alberobello (5 minute drive). The trullo which is wonderfully landscaped and nestled among olive and cherry trees, is central to several interesting towns and about an hour’s drive to Matera.
With the wonderful weather, we were able to make daily use of the pool and patio areas. We really enjoyed BBQing and eating all our meals outdoors on the covered patio and found the kitchen to be very well-equipped for meal preparation. We were delighted to be welcomed with two bottles of wine and Italian taralli (crackers), upon our arrival!
The trullo was well-maintained/clean and the beds were very comfortable.
Jan did a great job of ensuring we had all the details we needed including directions from the airport to our meeting-point in Alberobello, prior to our arrival. We were met by Chris, as arranged, who guided us to the trullo and answered all our questions. All went very smoothly!
We would highly recommend Serena to anyone looking for a relaxing get-away in a beautiful locale.
Trullo Serena was a slice of heaven. Even better than we had imagined. The location, facilities and amenities were terrific. Property was extremely well maintained and clean. Customer service by Jan and Chris and their team were second to none. The location is so close to a variety of towns and beaches which are all within 30-60 minutes away. Our only disappontmnet was leaving. We would highly recommend this to families or couples looking for a true Italian experience where you feel welcomed from the outset. Food and wine are incredible satisfying any budget. We will definitely return.
Puglia stretches from the stiletto of Italy's heel to the spur further up the boot and has a sunny Mediterranean climate. The region is very 'Italian' and boasts over 50 million olive trees producing 10% of the world's olive oil. It is also the largest wine producing area with vineyards in abundance.
Trullo Serena is situated in Capo di Gallo, a few km from Alberobello, the main town of the Trulli region. Home to around 1400 Trulli clustered together forming narrow cobbled streets; there are many excellent restaurants, bars and shops selling local handicrafts.
Alberobello lies in the picturesque Itria valley and is a fascinating town to explore, market day is a must. Locorotondo and Martina Franca a short drive with Ostuni a little further away. The rocky Adriatic coast is around 20 km to the east with small sandy inlets, crystal clear water and many wonderful seafood restaurants overlooking the sea. The Ionian coast is around 50 km away and has long sandy beaches worth exploring
There are no additional charges.
