The apartment is a characteristic penthouse apartment in the historical complex of "Villa Riccio".
On the fourth floor of a house (no lift) it is composed of a living room with a large fireplace, a kitchen, two bedrooms (one double and one single) and two full bathrooms, one with bath l ' other with shower. Large windows, good quality fittings and furnishings of elegant simplicity complete the apartment making it bright and cozy. We prefer not to have air conditioning.
The terrace, surrounded by greenery, furnished with a dining table and comfortable lounge chairs, is a space to live pleasantly in all seasons.
The other reviews are spot on for the convenience and comfort of this apartment, and Matteo was very nice and accomodating. It is a quiet haven from the noise and bustle of Rome, yet a short walk to to the tram takes one to the Piazza De Popolo, and a short walk over the Tiber brings you to the buses which go to the Vatican and Trastevere, and beyond. The Rome transit system is quite good, watch your wallet, but that is true anywhere. The Bar Du Fontane is literally half a block from the apartment, and is a great place for a latte and cornetto in the morning. Lunch is good there too, Rahim, the manager, is a very nice fellow. Not sure it is mentioned in the amenities of the apartment, but there is a small shower in one of the bathrooms. We were there for the month of June, and were comfortable with the fan. Small shops are around for most everything, including a mercado with booths of vendors of all sorts, and the urban supermarket that was mentioned by another reviewer. We always felt safe. We would absolutely come back.
We visited our friends who were staying at Villa Curly and we left very jealous because we were in a hotel and our friends were in an apartment. We visited the local markets and our friends made dinner and were served in on the terrace. The next time we visit Rome, we are going to see whether this rental is available. It is a bright airy penthouse apartment with lots of enormous windows and an inner court yard. The apartment had two great bedrooms and two bathrooms a clothes washer and a kitchen with everything you needed to cook and serve adequate meals. We will never stay in a hotel again when this apartment was 1/3 the price of our noisy hotel in Rome's historic district. Live and learn.
My husband and I stayed in Villa Curly for 6 days. Matteo the apartment owner came to the airport for us, making our stay in Rome much less stressful. The neighborhood is rather loud but the apartment is on the 5th floor, with thick wall and great windows to lock out the noise. There were good views on the top floor patio and we spent many great nights eating dinner and having wine unwinding from hours exploring Rome on the patio.
The apartment is three block from the tram to Piazza De Popollo, making it convenient to tram to the Metro which we caught at the Piazza. The Piazza is a short ride and is one of Rome many beautiful Piazza's. At the top of the Piazza are the grounds of the Borghese.
There is a larger neighborhood grocer only 5 short blocks from apartment, and since this is a Roman neighborhood and not located in a touristy area, the restaurants are truly Roman. There is also a center courtyard connecting all the apartments making it perfect for night walks away from the noise.
The apartment is 5 flight upstairs and you have to remember that there are 75 steps to get there, but once you do, its worth it. Thank you Matteo.
This apartment is perfect for a stay in Rome. The living room with the terrace are very pleasant and it is a real pleasure for your breakfast, lunch or dinner. The area is very nice, there is a covered market with high quality products and many other shops, bakeries....There is a tram N2 very close, going to Piaza Flamimia/ Piazza del Popolo, and there you have the metro and many buses for all the city.
The owner is very kindand the apartment is very cosy, with all you needfor a perfect stay!
The historic complex "Villa Riccio", villas and gardens built in the early years of the last century, is located along the Tiber in the heart of bustling Flaminio a few steps from the new Bridge of Music, from Maxxi, the Auditorium and the Olympic Theatre. Particularly well connected by public transport with the other focal points of the city center (in just 5 minutes by tram to get to Piazza del Popolo) the district also has shops, market and cheerful bars and restaurants that make it vital and attractive not only for local residents but also for the rest of the city.
