The villa is on a 3000 sq m plot in a quiet residential area, in Areias dos Moinhos on a gentle hill, with panoramic sea views all the way round from east to west and views to the Monchique mountains. It is situated within 1.500m of the beach and a seven minutes walk to the centre of Carvoeiro. This villa has three bedrooms, all of them have a direct access to a large terrace with wonderful sea views to the Atlantic over the swimming pool (10 X 5 Metres). The villa is equipped with all amenities including a large well equipped kitchen, dining room, lounge room with International TV via satellite (ASTRA) and an open fire place and a barbecue area at the terrace. A central floor heating gives comfort in winter. A large garage that is provided, makes sure that your car is always kept to a comfortable temperature.

Travel : The villa is situated in Areias dos Moinhos, a 45 minutes drive from Faro airport. A car hire is not essential, but will enable guests to visit many of the more secluded beaches and villages nearby. From Lisbon, Carvoeiro is about 3-4 hours drive on the motorway. For those who do not wish to drive while on holiday, there are frequent buses and cheap taxis into the town from Rocha Brava, and courtesy coaches to the water-slide park (Slide and Splash) just the other side of the town. Rocha Brava also runs a courtesy bus into town and back a few times a day.

Nearby Attractions : Carvoeiro has very many bars and restaurants, with varying styles and prices, but all are good value. You can take a boat trip from the town beach to see the nearby caves at Algar Seco. There are two water slide parks within a short drive, and a small marine theme park (Zoomarine) about 30 minutes away. 'Krazy Golf' is a fun day out for the family, a short distance inland. Silves is a historical walled town just 15 kms inland, and the fishing port of Portimao is about 20 minutes drive along the coast westwards. This town has many larger shops. Further inland is the spa town of Monchique where you may take the healing waters.

A Love Affair?

We have just returned from our fourth holiday at Casa Buganvila and, unusually, we would like to write a review for the benefit of others. This is a lovely traditional villa set in extensive well tended grounds and we are already booked for our next holiday!

All three double bedrooms, plus the generous lounge open directly, via sliding patio doors with security shutters and fly screens (we haven't had mosi problems!), onto the large, covered, south facing terrace, which is ideal for outdoor dining and pre-dinner drinks. This terrace gives direct access to the enormous pool and pool terrace, ideal for swimming, sunbathing (beds all provided), barbecuing (built in bbq) and built-in alfresco dining. There are extensive views to the sea on this sunny, private, south facing pool terrace.

There is a good sized, well equipped kitchen, two full bathrooms (both with bath and over-bath showers), and a substantial dining hall which gives access to an enclosed, sheltered, patio, which, in itself, gives access to a large roof terrace. There is also a garage with electric door to keep your car cool.

The villa details as provided by the very helpful agents, Borboleta, are comprehensive and all equipment is in good order - if you have problems, they will sort it out! The photographs on the HomeAway site are also genuine and reflect accurately on the property.

Other issues, which should be kept in fair proportion are;

1. The location of the villa is great for us but you may find the walk to "restaurant hill" a little far (particularly if it's a bit warm!) and a rental car or taxi (which are plentiful and relatively cheap) might prove more practical. Incidentally, there are many good quality restaurants in the town - we particularly like A Marisqueiro (great bbq fish! and next door to the friendly Accordian sports bar!), Algarvia and Maxime - but you will no doubt find your own favourites!

2. TV and entertainment equipment in the villa is quite good but we would prefer more English TV channels, particularly for sport (having said that, we don't go there to watch tele!).

3. Depending upon time of year and prevailing temperatures, the villa is normally cool and comfortable (particularly if there is the usual light Atlantic breeze!). However, maybe for a villa of this quality and size, the installed air con, or part air con should be included in the price and not provided as an additional extra.

Excellent Villa with a beautiful garden

What a find! Casa Buganvila is every bit as lovely as the photographs and description suggest - if anything even better. It is spacious both inside and out and is very comfortably furnished. We breakfasted each morning on the delightful veranda and on those evenings when we dined in we did so in the comfort of the dining room. The kitchen is amazingly well equipped with absolutely everything you might need. The garden grounds are extensive and beautifully planted and the swimming pool, whilst unheated, is sizeable and inviting. The maid service was superb - the ladies friendly and very efficient but not the least bit intrusive. Similarly the gentleman who came to tend the swimming pool. The Borboleta property management team were exceptionally professional, helpful and responsive (the information pack for the villa was missing when we arrived but the internet password was sent by text to us within minutes and a replacement pack delivered early the next day). Whilst we had no problems during our holiday it was comforting to know that the Borbeleta team were on hand to assist with anything if we did.

The owners of the villa have made the property a home from home and sought to ensure that every comfort is provided. A card welcoming us to the villa, signed by the owners was a very nice and thoughtful touch, as was the provision of some food (milk, cheese, ham, bread, jam, juice, eggs) to get us started until we had time to find our bearings and settle in.

The villa is located in a very attractive residential area with views across Carvoeira to the sea, with fantastic sunsets to be seen. It is within very easy walking distance of the nearest restaurant - Martin's Kulinarium, which we recommend - and within reasonable walking distance of all the restaurants and facilities of Carvoiera itself. We ate at two other restaurants in Carvoiera (A Rede and Prima Vera, both of which provided meals of good quality ). Supermarkets are within a short driving distance and we found the Intermarche supermarket provided a fairly extensive range of goods and excellent customer service.

We so enjoyed our first stay at Casa Buganvila that we are planning to return there early next year - and this time for a month not just a week. We wholeheartedly recommend this villa.

Tolles Haus, super Lage, sehr gepflegt

Wir haben einen tollen Familienurlaub in der Casa Bouganvila verbracht. Das Anwesen war sehr gepflegt und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Alles tiptop sauber. Unsere Kinder (4 Jahre und 7 Jahre) liebten vor allem den Pool.

Wir haben uns häufig Abends selbst versorgt und dabei die umfassende Ausstattung der Küche sehr geschätzt. Einen Holzkohlegrill gab es draußen auch, Kohle dafür haben wir im Supermarkt gekauft. Abends haben wir häufig auf der wunderschönen überdachten Terrasse gesessen und konnten den Blick auf das Meer geniessen.

Der Garten ist riesig und war prima für unsere Kinder zum Toben und Ball spielen. Ein kleiner Spielplatz im Garten (Spielturm mit Rutsche und Schaukel) kam auch gut an.

Eine Putzfrau kam zweimal in der Woche, das hat auch völig gereicht.

Beautiful family villa in a peaceful location

This is a beautiful villa and easily lived up to our expectations. The villa is large with a good sized pool and lovely gardens surrounding it. We had two children with us, a ten year old and a 1 year old and they loved it. Mosquitos were a problem but doors could be left open all night because of the sliding mosquito mesh attached to all the doors, very useful!.Air con is available at extra cost if required but we didnt find it too hot in June, it was lovely. It was our first villa holiday as a family (Grandparents came too) and we would definitely return and recommend to other families or couples.

The beach is within walking distance, roughly 20-25min and is a bit hilly. We would recommend hiring a car for lovely drives in the area and also trips to the well stocked supermarket which is too far to walk.

We arrived late on our first day and the hosts thoughtfully left some food supplies such as milk, bread, etc. If you are thinking of renting this villa, dont hesitate, just book it!. Its beautiful and we had a wonderful stay here.

Casa Bouganvilla

This is a fantastic villa in a stunning location,its wellaway from the crowded beaches and high rise appartments that are available a bit further up the coast.The villa its lf was immaculate and extremely large!!!!! My 2 children had a ball in the pool which is just outside the back door!!!! You really need a acar to get around as the villa is a fair walk to the town centre.We had a fab holiday there and would recommend this place to any one without hesistation.

Carvoeiro has grown up around a small fishing village in the centre of the Algarve, 7 kms West of Portimao. The village has its own pretty beach, where small, restored fishing boats offer trips for tourists. There are lots of restaurants, bars and ever improving shops in town and surrounding countryside, plus one small disco open in the summer months only. There are no high-rise hotels or large apartment blocks in Carvoeiro. There are 3 golf courses within 10 Minutes drive Gramacho, Pinto & Vale de Milho. Tennis in Monte Dourado–3 Min Walk. David Lloyd’s& Rocha Brava Tennis Complexes & Fitness Centres 10 Min. drive. Boat trips from Carvoeiro beach to Grottos. Cliff walks by Algarve Seco.

Golf: Vale do Milho, a 9 hole par 3 course, is within walking distance. Two 18 hole courses - Vale de Pinta and Gramacho - are at Carvoeiro (5kms). 40% discount on green fees at Vilar do Golf, 20 minutes away. Championship courses are available at Penina (25 minutes) and Quinta de Lago (30 minutes). Many courses are within 30 - 40 minutes drive.
