About the property

Luxury home with hot legs and old fireplaces.

The House of Carmen has more than four hundred years of antiquity, since it consists in records previous to the year 1647.  Its restoration was total since only the exterior walls of the house were conserved. It respected in its rehabilitation the proper configuration of a house of a fishing village, with its floors and wooden ceilings.

At its entrance, a stone arch reveals its past. On the ground floor we will enjoy the fireplace in the living room, kitchen and bathroom with shower with light and rain effect.  On the upper floor, we have a fireplace and an ancient footstool in the room, and in the bathroom a hydromassage shower. From this floor we access a small patio with outdoor furniture facing south.

- A room with a 1.50 cm bed with a wood-burning fireplace and an old leg bath in the room.

- Hot and cold air conditioning in all rooms, flat-screen TVs.

- Two bathrooms with hydromassage shower and shower with light and rain effect (with hair dryers and toiletries).

- Living room with wood-burning fireplace.

- Fully equipped kitchen (kettle, coffee machine, toaster, microwave ...) and dining room.

- Terrace and outdoor furniture.

- A double sofa bed in the living room and possibility of an extra single bed.

just perfect!

Even before we left home Ana and Jose were very helpful finding out information about buses for us. Jose also met us at the bus stop which was so kind. The house is beautiful, comfortable and clean. It has everything you need and more, including a beautiful homemade cake, biscuits and very nice cava! We were made to feel so welcome and really enjoyed our stay.

Corcubion is a charming, relaxing small town with spectacular scenery and lovely walks, and everyone is so friendly that it doesn't matter if you don't speak too much Spanish - by the end of your holiday you will know un poquito Galician!

Our favourite restaurant was the Degustacion de marisco MercaMaris where the chef shared with us her recipe for her clams and sauce. Also O Pirata in Fisterra is worth a visit. We did not use the beaches as it was mostly raining but Quenxe looked the best option.

We would most definitely come back and when we do, we want to stay at Casa De Carmen. Thank you Jose and Ana for a most hospitable welcome.

Beautiful Hide Away on Galician Coast

  • 5 of 5

We (two mature experienced travellers) stayed in Ana & Jose's cottage for one week in late September. It is beautiful, decorated to details, comfortable, homey, close to everything in the area, including several beaches and Fisterra. Do walk Carnota beach, and park in Fisterra and walk up to the lighthouse.

Jose met us and provided lots of information on the area, activities, driving distances etc. There was a lovely orange cake Ana made, a bottle of Cava and water and milk to start our stay. Soap and shampoo, laundry items and everything you could possibly think of. They are only a phone call, or msg away, and were available if we needed them. Both are very hospitable, knowledgeable, and great hosts.

The house itself is about 400 years old and they have taken the time to finish every detail to keep the era alive in the house and make it very livable and comfortable. Even electronics.

Thank you to both Ana & Jose for a wonderful week in our tour of Spain. You are both very special.

Seguramente volveremos!

Abrazos y besos!!!!!!!!LL!

Elena y Dmitry.

Stupenda, intima e molto romantica

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

We suggest you visit Casa de Carmen in Galicia and specifically an area still little known in which we have the pleasure of living called the Costa da Morte. It is located in the westernmost part of Galicia, on the Atlantic Ocean in the province of A Coruña. It is not clear the name Costa da Morte, but may be due to any of the following reasons, the first, and that seems the most real, would be named by the continuous shipwrecks that occurred in this area so battered by temporary and still produce the death of fishermen and sailors, the other, more poetic and the more we identify is referred to this end of the earth, the place where the sun dies.

It is an area not yet fully discovered by tourists although some and we are fortunate to enjoy long. We will find beaches, mountains, trails, towns, routes ... where worth spending a few days and even holidays. We suggest some interesting places to visit.

The first would be the climb to Monte Pindo, a hiking route of approximately four hours of medium level that will take us to its highest point, the Moa, there we can enjoy spectacular views. It is the most mythical of the Galician mountains, with its legends, sacrifices, excommunications, petroglyphs, rites of fecundity, fortresses ... we will also contemplate the strange forms of its rocks in which we will guess all kinds of monsters and animals.

Very close to this mountain have a quiet little village called Ézaro, it is the mouth of the Xallas river plunges into the sea in a cascade of 40 meters high.

A beautiful town is a historic Corcubión considered one of the best preserved of the Costa da Morte. We recommend that you visit it in the second half of July because in it the feast of Carmen, patron saint of sailors and also the medieval market that fully engage its neighbors by dressing in vintage clothes is celebrated.

And speaking of people with remarkable historical and artistic center cite walls, preserving the marine air and where we can find arcades, narrow streets, traditional houses, cruises and squares. Good entertainment is read the names of its streets, namely: Hope, Patience, Soledad, Leisure, Bitterness, Retirement, Health ...

The beach Carnota with its endless miles to walk, where entrance is the granary of Carnota (typical Galician building that was used to store grain grown) and is now national tourist monument.

Villa of Camariñas, with its famous lace from its lighthouse Vilán part a route of 19 kilometers with beautiful views and runs along a track of land and well conditioned that leads to Xaviña and Arou. In it we see the English Cemetery (where they are buried 175 deaths from the sinking of the British ship "Serpent"), the beaches of Reira Thirteen and ending in the fishing village of Camelle.

El Faro Finisterre, we have reached the end of the world, here we will enjoy the sunset, place full of all kinds of beliefs and pagan rites, in which the Romans (s. II. C.) was startled to see the huge sun disappear into the water. According to legend beyond this spooky creatures lived out ... We have reached the end of our route in which the ancients believed guess the end of the known world and is also the end of the Camino de Santiago as always many pilgrims decided to extend his trip here for several reasons, all different.

To regain strength we can visit any of the restaurants in this town, we suggest clams and grilled sea bass accompanied by good Alvariño. Would you like to come?
