A great apartment centrally located in the heart of Amsterdam!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful city at Fem’s apartment. She is a delightful person and a gracious host who left us goodies and wine to enhance our visit. She even took time to join us for dinner and drinks at a local pub and restaurant. We will definitely stay there again if we are lucky enough to return to Amsterdam.

Best part of Amsterdam is the Dutch people

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was the best we have enjoyed in our VRBO experience. It had everything we needed except a television (I wouldn't be surprised if Femmy would make one available if we had really wanted it, but we were fine without it). It was a spacious, comfortable and well appointed space. But what really made it special was the friendliness, helpfulness, interest, good sense of humor and generosity of Femmy. We arrived to a dining table set with flowers, fruit and wine. The refrigerator was stocked with fresh and delicious cheeses, bread, milk and other very helpful items for our stay. I was touched. I have asked to PAY for such things to carry us through at least the day of arrival at other VRBOs but to no avail. Femmy asked us on occasion if we were enjoying our stay and if we needed anything. Plus she's just a fine person to converse with. And we were given a ride to the airport at the end of our stay. I would recommend this apartment for the space and what it contained. But the addition of a great soul puts it over the top! OK, it had narrow stairs that require attention, but so probably do most houses in Amsterdam. Then there is Amsterdam itself which has plenty to offer. Be sure to converse with everyone you encounter in Amsterdam. The Dutch are some of the most enjoyable conversationalists I have encountered anywhere! I heartily recommend staying here!

Nice apartment in a great location, with amazing hosts.

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Fem. She was an exceptional host and even filled our fridge with food for breakfast snacks and wine. The unit was spacious and comfortable. The location was exceptional. Fem invited us to her local pub, which had a great atmosphere. Restaurants, central, shops were within a 15 min. stroll if not less. They even provided bikes for the stay. Safe neighborhood. About as close as you could get to being in a touristy area while still being in a real neighborhood. There was construction next door, but at no point did it affect our sleep.

Amsterdam cozy well appointed apartment.

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at Femmy and Ruuts apartment. It is conveniently located to the northeast of the centre, away from the hustle of the centre but close to walk or bike to. A short walk to Amsterdam Centraal station. It is cozy, well appointed, (2 bottles of wine), and all of the required condiments. It is nicely furnished in a vintage type of fashion and is comfortable. Femmy and Ruut live in the building and look after you. They also provided two bikes to cruise around as an Amsterdam biker. They are very friendly and welcoming. We would highly recommend it. The only issue one has to consider is that the building adjacent to this one is currently under construction, and there was noise at 6:30 am, and as late as 10:30 pm. Mitchell

great location on a quiet street- not a touristy area

  • 4 of 5

Fem and Rudd were very welcoming when we arrived a bit earlier than expected. We left our luggage in their place on the first floor and left to explore the area while they cleaned our place from the previous tenants. Fem walked us to a FABULOUS breakfast place (a bit pricey but WELL worth it!). Our son was going to stay with us for just one night before he went to school. We didn't think that it would be a problem, but apparently the Amsterdam laws are VERY strict on the number of renters in a place, so we decided to get a hotel for one night so that there were no problems! All worked out! Fem and Rudd were very accommodative while we made this decision. Anyway, the place was nice...old, but nice. It needs some updating, but we aren't high maintenance travelers. The bathroom is TINY (no lid on the toilet and not much space to even change your mind!). There was no hot water during the last two days of our stay. Something was broken. The solution was to walk to the broker's apt down the street and shower at his place at 6:30 am on departure day. For us, it was not a big deal...for others, it could be a serious issue.

The other reviews are spot on when they talk about the welcome that they received. After we walked around the city for a bit, we returned for check in to find the table set with a beautiful spread of rolls, crackers, jam; we found in the fridge milk, cheese, eggs, butter and salami. We didn't have to food shop for the apt at all (we ate out for lunch and dinner; we WERE on vacation after all!). I would recommend this place to travelers who enjoy a quiet walk to wind down after a busy travel day (about a 10-15 min walk from the main train station) At no time did we feel unsafe or unwelcome while we were in Amsterdam. I don't think that we will book here the next time- but ONLY because we will have too many people with us!!! Thank you, Fem and Rudd, for your wonderful hospitality during our first time in Amsterdam!
